Chapter 29: Chapter 29
"When did this photo get into my coat?"
Hailey crumpled the photo of herself and Halen in her hand. That photo was what caused her to feel uncomfortable all day yesterday. She didn't remember that there were bad people around her who had the opportunity to slip the photo—
Hold on!
There is one person! That poor old granny!
"It turns out she's not just anyone! How could I be fooled?" She turned back and forth restlessly, biting her nails.
What should she do? Investigating the old woman?
Ah, right, she had to!
As she turned around and carried her bag, she saw Ray just coming out of the bathroom in his bathrobe. His hair was still a bit wet. Seeing him like that, even if he was a poor man, she would probably still fall in love with him.
The man was truly handsome.
Hailey hid the photo immediately. "Babe, are you finished?"
"Mn. Do you want to go out?" Ray asked while rubbing his hair with the towel.
"Yeah, at first," she said, pulling him to sit on the edge of the bed, taking over his towel. "But, I don't think so now."
"Why?"
"I met my friends by accident yesterday and they were having a party. It was all women. I wanted to go, but I felt a little confused."
He still didn't understand and asked, "Then what's the problem?"
Her eyes fluttered a little. "They're a group of women, I don't know if I invite you along whether you'll be ridiculed. You'll get bored there too."
After the last sentence, he understood. "I don't mind if I don't come. Whatever makes you happy then do it."
"Are you serious?"
Ray nodded.
"Babe, you are the best!" She rushed to hug him from behind and kissed his cheek. "I promise just one day."
The corners of his lips turned up in a smile. He rubbed her arm which was on his chest. Meanwhile his mind wasn't completely there, somehow he was thinking about Alexa and Fillo.
At first he had intended to meet Fillo to help nurse that kid until he recovered, and was thinking about what reason to tell Hailey.
However, fate seemed to make things easier for him this time.
He didn't tell her about Alexa because Hailey had already said that she didn't like her because of the incident at the nightclub event last time. So, he also didn't want to hurt her by mentioning Alexa's name.
Hailey let go of her hug and turned gloomy suddenly.
"Hm, what is it now?" A small frown appeared on his forehead.
"When I meet friends, I usually lose track of time so—"
"So you're going to spend quite a long time with them?" He interupted her.
Her head nodded, but then shook her head. "But I don't think it will be that long either. You know, parties wouldn't be fun without you, Ray. It's just that my friends really can't be ignored. They definitely won't let me go easily."
Seeing her continuing to be gloomy, Ray sighed, held her hands gently and said, "You're too busy working to have free time for yourself. What's wrong with having fun with your friends? Make time for them, don't you guys rarely meet?"
"Babe, really! If you weren't there the party wouldn't actually be fun."
"So, are you going or not?"
"I am! But—"
"Then go." Ray took the towel from her hands. "I'm fine. Our purpose here is to have fun. Don't think about anything else."
"Then can I go now? I want to buy clothes," she said.
"Why not?"
Ray took his wallet and gave her his credit card.
It was clear that Hailey was very satisfied with the card he gave her. She stood up, adjusted the red span skirt on her thighs, then turned around. After only a few steps, she remembered something and came back to him, who was confused when he saw her.
"What's ..."
Ray didn't finish his words because Hailey immediately kissed his lips lightly like a dragonfly sticking to water.
"I love you, Ray. Really, really, really love you."
After she left, he touched his lips, but his heart was very empty. His engagement to Hailey was carried out five years ago in Canada at the suggestion of his grandfather. However, for some reason his heart never really wanted her.
How could he have been dating for so long and finally got engaged, but he didn't feel like he loved her?
Do they really love each other?
His head throbbed as he thought about this again. As usual, he would take two pills at a time from his medicine bottle and swallow them. Only then did he feel a little calm.
Then, he took out his phone to make a call.
"Can I get Mrs. Alexa Greisy's room number at this cruise?" Ray paused for a moment before continuing, "I'm Ray Sanders."
After easily getting the room number just by saying his name, a few hours later, he was in front of Alexa's room. He laughed to himself, not realizing that their rooms were only two doors apart.
Another coincidence.
The nurse at the health center told him that Fillo had returned this morning, he must be in the room now. He finally took the initiative to bring in lots of groceries from the convenience store to prepare lunch for Fillo.
He couldn't wait to see his little peanut.
After knocking on the bedroom door several times, the bedroom door finally opened.
"Ray?" Alexa was surprised, she was still wearing her pajama and didn't seem to intend to go anywhere. "What's wrong? How do you know my room?"
Then she remembered that he was the second largest shareholder of this cruise ship, he could do anything with just his orders.
But isn't this rude? High class service can still be manipulated by rich people?
Absolutely no respect for visitor privacy!
She accidentally noticed that there was another person next to Ray, still in the shadows because the hallway was rather dim. The person looked like a hotel servant.
"Can I come inside? If you're not comfortable, I might just leave some things for you here."
'Of course I'm not comfortable inviting a jerk into my room!' She thought, but she said otherwise, "It's okay, Fillo will be happy to see you."
The 'stuff' that Ray meant was several shopping bags that were full of contents. The servant actively placed it in the living room. After receiving a tip from him, the servant withdrew.
"What's this?" she asked.
Before he could answer, Fillo came out of the room and ran to hug him. "Daddy!"
"Hey, Peanut, you can't run like that! Will I run away from you, hm?" Ray caught the kid just in time as he almost tripped over the floor.
"Daddy, I dreamed about you," Fillo said in a low voice.
"Dream?"
Fillo nodded.
Alexa helped explain for him, "He said he dreamed of being carried by you when he was sick, after that the pain disappeared."
"Wait a minute, before that tell me, do you still feel sick? Are you alright now, Peanut?" Ray asked, remembering something. "Why do you have a stomach ache like that? Did you eat something wrong?"
Fillo's head nodded again. "I didn't listen Mom. I was wrong."
The little boy's lips pursed, clearly feeling guilty and worried about being scolded. Ray immediately calmed him down. "Then, in the future you have to listen to your Mom, okay?"
"Mn!"
"Have you apologized to Mom?"
Fillo looked up to see his mother, Ray followed him to see her. Meanwhile, Alexa, who was suddenly stared at like that, felt awkward, how could she show an unfriendly face again.
"Fillo, you've apologized to Mom. Why not be honest with Uncle Ray?" Alexa said softly.
"If you apologize, that's good," he concluded.
But Fillo suddenly broke free from Ray's embrace and hugged his mom legs, not saying anything. She suspected that the kid felt depressed because his guilt was being brought up again and became afraid.
"Ray, he has already apologized to me. Don't force him anymore. You scared him," she intervened.
His forehead furrowed deeply. He didn't feel like he was forcing Fillo anything, he was just asking, okay?
"Teaching children to apologize is the right thing, isn't it?" Ray, without looking at her, started to open his shopping bag, feeling a little guilty.
Alexa, "You didn't teach him anything. I think you brought up his mistakes and made him depressed. He's still a kid, making mistakes is normal."
Ray, "I know, but I didn't bring anything up. I asked whether he had apologized or not. Is that called bringing up a mistake?"
