Chapter 30: Chapter 30
Ray finally looked at Alexa who was still standing nearby, accidentally seeing Fillo's eyes peeking out from the hug he was holding.
'This bastard, now wants to teach me how to take care of children?' Alexa said to herself. She pulled Fillo closer to her. "Mr. Sanders, you can see it, he's so scared!"
With those words, Ray glanced again at Fillo. His face was completely planted.
"I'm sorry, we shouldn't raise our tone in front of a kid," he sighed.
He tried to get closer to grab Fillo, but she stepped back preventing him from touching his son.
Being rejected like that made him understand. "I actually meant to make lunch for Fillo. Sorry, if I scared him."
He knew from the start that Fillo was different from other children his age. He was very quiet and sensitive, Ray shouldn't have said something to hurt him. Maybe it was true that he scared him.
It's normal for a child his age to make mistakes.
"No need to bother, Ray. You can go first until things get better," she suggested him.
"No!" Fillo let go of his arms around his mother feet. "Daddy can't go."
Wait! What's this?
For a moment she was confused as to what had just happened. About how this kid hugged Ry again and acted protectively as if she had just hurt that man.
"Daddy, are you leaving?" Fillo asked with teary eyes. "Don't go, please. I'll share my ice cream with you again, okay?"
Just like Alexa, Ray was also confused by the little boy's attitude. His soft, quivering milky voice pleading made him melt.
"Who's going, huh? I said I'd make you lunch, didn't I?" Ray rubbed the kid's head affectionately. "Look, it's lunch time in an hour."
"Mn! I am hungry."
Ray tickled the kid's stomach. "Of course! But don't eat much else, okay?"
"Mn."
"Now can you help me put away the groceries?"
The little boy deftly opened the shopping bags, he shouted out several types of fruit that he knew. Looked very happy. It was as if the commotion between the two adults was just dust that had been blown away by the wind.
Alexa finally didn't mind it, seeing Ray stand up and roll up his sleeves. "You will cook?"
"I will be responsible until he recovers, then I can't trust anyone else for his food intake," he answered.
"Even if it's me?" She narrowed her eyes in displeasure.
"Look, Alexa. You misunderstood my words again."
Before she could reply, he had gone into the kitchen without permission. Together with Fillo arrange the ingredients that will be used on the table. Then told the little boy to sit tight and wait.
What she couldn't understand was why Fillo's attitude changed when Ray was around?
Why does that kid become spoiled, excitable and talkative?
This is indeed the curse of father and son, isn't it?
Almost an hour later, all the dishes had been finished by the impromptu cook. The small rectangular dining table was full of various processed foods. They are all healthy foods made completely without oil. Suitable for people on a diet.
But the food was too much of a feast for her eyes.
"Ray, he can't possibly eat everything," she said with a blank look.
Ray was still wearing an apron as he answered, "I made enough for three people. Of course, I'll eat here too. You certainly don't mind."
Very. Object.
She paid him no more attention, ignoring all the food; pasta salad, gluten-free oatmeal, mashed potatoes, chicken breast fillets, pan-fried salmon, yogurt, bun sandwiches—ah, this is really a healthy menu that is in the weekly women's tabloids.
And he provided it in an hour!
"Are you sure you didn't secretly order take away from the restaurant?"
"What do you mean?" Ray asked back. "Fillo has a weak stomach, so is mine, I'm used to eating this kind of food."
Oh—she who is used to eating instant noodles and cheese toast can't compare to him!
Father and son are indeed similar.
"Does he have an allergy to this food?" While asking, Ray saw Fillo's eyes sparkling at the colorful food in front of him. "You can try the pasta first, Peanut. The pasta is made from avocado and baby spinach. Meanwhile, the filling is sweet fruit and a few pieces of green vegetables. Do you like cherry tomatoes?"
Fillo nodded.
"No, this food is fine," she answered the previous question.
Ray spooned some onto a white porcelain plate. "Then it's safe. Come on, try it. It's delicious."
Fillo excitedly tried a small bite and agreed. "Daddy, it's delicious!"
After that, he also tried chicken breast and salmon, these were the ones he liked the most. Even though he didn't say he didn't like salad, Ray understood that it was a bit difficult to get children to eat vegetables. This way at least he could eat it.
"Fillo, eat slowly." Alexa reminded him.
The child nodded indifferently, busy with his delicious food so that his cheeks were puffed up.
Ray limited Fillo's food portions well. For a man, he is indeed better at managing food. Hard to believe.
"Has the pain in his stomach gotten better?" He asked her.
"It's better. Just need to watch him not eat carelessly."
He nodded.
She suddenly remembered something and hesitated whether to say it or not. If this was her usual self, she might be very reluctant, but for the sake of her goal of revenge, she might have to lower her self-esteem a little.
"Ray, um, what are your plans after lunch?" She finally asked it.
"I don't have any plans."
"I saw Fillo was so happy when he met you. I was thinking about it for a while, would you like to come with us to have fun?" She stared at her food as she asked this.
She deliberately didn't look at him, so as not to look cheap and too hopeful.
"Of course, you don't need to hesitate to invite me." Ray then thought of several plans. "There is an artificial snow ride on deck 13, want to go there first?"
"That's fine too."
After saying that, her face didn't look enthusiastic, he wondered why. Could it be that she still feels uncomfortable, but she doesn't want to express it?
"Ray ..."
"Hm?"
"Aren't you on holiday here alone? What about your girlfriend?"
Finally she said it. Which also made he understand what made this woman uncomfortable.
He explained, "I'm here with Hailey, but she is going to have a party with her friends. I think she'll be gone late into the night."
When she heard he say that, she glanced at him to see his sad expression, but found none.
'Oh, party?'
