Chapter 50: Chapter 50

Stefan must've carried her to bed Rella deduced by morning when she woke up in bed covered with the duvet. She must've been bone tired after their bout of lovemaking to not be aware of being carried. By the time she stopped her musing and became aware that the other side of the bed was empty Stefan was already carrying breakfast to her.

Her eyes narrowed.

"Did I miss something, is there any special event today?"

"Nothing. I just felt like treating my beautiful wife to a sumptuous breakfast in bed."

Rella scanned through the beacon and eggs and her mouth started to water.

"Hmm, looks delicious. I thought you left already." She said taking a bite and chewing slowly to savour its deliciousness. It was just as tasty as it looked.

"I have an afternoon flight." He was going to Vancouver for business.

Her phone beeped to signal a text message and Stefan grabbed the cell from the night stand and handed it to her. Her countenance changed suddenly and Stefan noticed it.

"Is something wrong?"

It was the same text she always gets from an unknown contact since New Caledonia. Rella thought that since she didn't go to the meeting place it would've been obvious to this mysterious person that she was not interested in any shenanigans and leave her alone but they didn't get the hint. She was going to tell Stefan about it before but because she stopped getting those texts she thought she'd finally gotten rid of them.

Clearly she was wrong.

She handed the phone to Stefan. After reading it's content he looked at her in confusion.

"What is the meaning of this?"

After Rella finished explaining how the whole thing started a storm was brewing in Stefan's eyes.

"Why didn't you tell me any of these sooner?"

"I'm sorry I thought I thought I could handle it on my own." Stefan's anger seemed to be simmering down.

"did they tell you anything else?"

" No they've been vague at most and I must confess that there was a time when I got curious and I almost went to meet them."

Stefan's temper flared again.

" Are you crazy! After I told told you there was nothing between Jenny and I it was all in the past why don't you believe me you prefer to hear what someone out there has to say instead not to mention you could've gotten hurt."

Rella had never seen Stefan so angry before and he looked scary. But he was right, she could've gotten hurt. She bolted out of bed, almost toppling the breakfast he made for her as she reached for him. Rella took his hand, it was fisted and ready to punch something… or someone.

"I trust you Stefan which is why I didn't take them up on their word no matter how curious I was. I'm sorry please don't be angry at me." She gazed up at him, a pout forming on her full lips.

She managed to pry his fingers apart and entertwine hers with his and his arm relaxed.

Stefan sighed. "I'm not mad at you I'm furious at this faceless person who seemed to be getting a kick at leading you on into thinking I have something to hide to destroy our trust in each other."

"Do you have any idea who it could be?"

"Lucille." He bit out tersely who else can be as conniving as her. "It has to be her."

"Why do you think it's her?"

"She's the one who brought up Jenny when we ran into her in New Caledonia remember plus she also happens to be her cousin."

" What does she hope to gain from that?"

" That's what I intend to find out." Stefan kissed her forehead.

"Don't worry I'll put a stop to this madness and make sure she doesn't bother you anymore." He pulled her in an embrace and Rella exhaled a breath she didn't know she was holding.
