Chapter 49: Chapter 49

It was a Saturday evening. Rella was curled up on the chaise lounge in Stefan’s study with a romance novel on her lap while Stefan worked on his laptop having no idea how distracting she was sitting there and looking gorgeous. The sun was slowly dipping back as twilight descended, leaving behind a faint glow of orange and violet. They both could pretend to focus and not mind the presence of the other but in reality they were both painfully aware of each other. Rella glanced up and their gazes locked and held there was no denying what they both felt and want.

One look said it all.

In no time Stefan abandoned his work, rounded the desk and reached for her, Rella lept into his waiting arms and her mouth captured his in a fiery kiss. Her hands boldly explored his torso feeling the heat from the fabric of his shirt. she sighed as he tasted her throat, her skin burned with every touch. Frantically, she worked on the buttons of his shirt as he continued to tease her.

No words were said, none was needed as only their mouths and hands were doing the talking. In no time their clothes were discarded and they rode the tides of passion to a shuddering peak and then back again.

Stefan rolled her on top of him as they both catch their breath, his fingers intertwining with hers.

"What do you think will happen to Van and Jake's relationship?" She said after a while.

Stefan sighed. "Only time will tell." He kissed her forehead.

"What if something like that happened to us?"

"I did not marry you to get back at your mom if that's what you mean." Stefan chuckled, the sound vibrated off his chest to her nipples.

"No I mean if there was some sort of secret between us that could ruin our marriage… or something like that."

" What kind of secret? "

" I don't know… I mean… I'm just saying … "

God what is she blabbering about?

Stefan chuckled. " You have a wild sense of imagination. I can't believe you're dreaming up drama for us. Nothing like that is going to happen to us." He assured her. "I know your wild past and you know my 'no marrying' past. We'll be fine." He pressed feathery kisses along her long fingers.

No we won't unfortunately.

Tears stung Rella's eyes and her heart constricted at the thought. She knew she couldn't keep her identity from him for much longer and that the clock is ticking, who knows how much time she has left before she ran out of luck, before everything blows up in her face.

"Stefan you know how much I love you don't you?"

"Not as much I love you that's for sure."

Rella snorted. "I thought we're supposed to love each other equally."

"And I heard that I am obliged to love you more so that's that. It's not up for debate by the way."

He could feel her smile against his skin and it made him feel warm and fuzzy all of a sudden. Wow, the things love could do to a man. And he's not complaining at all.
