Chapter 3: Chapter 3
As we are going by windows in the hallway, I hadn't realized that it was early morning. Considering it was morning last time I apparently saw the sun. The hallway we were going down wasn't the same one she took me down before with the giant double doors. "Where are we? I mean, I know we are in the mansion but where exactly." Tix let's go of her grip on my arm and I walk to the side of her and keep at her pace. "Oh! We are in the east wing of the mansion. It's usually for unmated females to gather and sleep without the boys being a bother. Unmated males are in the west...mated in the south, and the Alpha, Betas, and soon our Luna to the north." I picked up on the soon Luna part. I wonder if Trevor already had a mate he was soon to be mated with. A tinge of jealousy passed through me. Weird, why did it matter who he was with? The guy barely talked to me and I barely knew him. "Is there someone he's supposed to be mated with?" The words slipped out before I could stop them. Okay, weird yet again. "Yeah, the council you could say for our pack is forcing him to find his mate so he can be a true Alpha. It makes the pack stronger you could say. Not only that but everyone at some point needs to find their mate or they become rogue. Though, we've only had a rogue about every hundred years or so." I pause in my tracks and close my eyes, "Whoa whoa, you mean to tell me, you are over a hundred years old?" She laughs, "No! Not quite there yet! I am 22, it's basic knowledge they tell us when you have that birds and bees talk." " Yikes and I thought the normal ones were bad." "Lucky, I could give you a quick lesson if you'd like so you don't feel all left out." She laughed again. "Nooo, all good here captain." I salute her and we link our arms down the hallway to our destination. We come to the lounge area we passed when we entered the house coming down the first hallway.
We walk in and take a spot near a window and sit down. "So, the blue abomination shows up. Didn't think you'd wake up. Too bad you're still breathing. " Jessica walks up to us with a posse in tow. "Well, well isn't it the thirsty wannabe Alpha Bitches." Tix cocks her head to the side and clicks her tongue. "Save it, I am not here for you today. I am here for the experiment gone wrong." Her eyes flash gold at me and I cut my eyes at her. "You know, you really shouldn't be throwing around words you don't quite understand, bimbo." Tix snaps again. "Keep it up and I will put you in your place, Pix-" Tix shoots up from her spot and gets in Jessica's face. "You finish that word and I will make you regret it. You'll be the real abomination, you hear me wolfy?" Her voice is low and deadly. I thought I saw her eyes flash red for a moment but I chalked it up to a trick of the light from the window. Plus, wasn't she a wolf herself, so why is she so defensive over that word that never comes out? "Then, we will be out of your way, but we are taking her with us." Jessica goes to grab my arm and before she could grab me, I snatch her arm down to where her face meets mine, "Know your place! Don't you ever lay a hand on me again or you'll lose it!" I growl warningly. What was that about? Did I just growl? I don't normally get so aggressive like that. Normally, I would do what Drake likes to call, "My Oscar Professionalism", this time Tix is staring at me with bewilderment. I let go of Jessica's arm and see where my fingers left imprints. "FREAK!" she screams as she storms off. "What's her problem?" I look at Tix as she comes out of her shock of seeing me angry. "She believes she's going to be Trevor's mate so she's "trying"." She does her signature finger quotes with a half unamused face, "to get everyone to submit to her. I was the only one, before you came, that wouldn't submit...plus Serena but she's a different case...So, looks like she's back to square one." She sits down and presses a button on the table I didn't notice before. "Hi! Can we get two orange juices and some buttermilk pancakes, please?" "Absolutely! Be there soon!" A girl's voice comes across a small intercom in the table. "Whoa! That's cool! When did they start making these?" I place my hands on the table with amazement of such an invention. "Oh? These? These are exclusive to us. We have an inventor that works with the pack to make gear and such for us." She looks at her nails with a prideful look on her face. I take it she must know them or she's just being boastful. Probably best to go with the ladder. "By the way, Tix" I remembered I wanted to ask her about how her wolf looked. "What does your wolf look like?" I cup my face in my hands and place my elbows on the table waiting for her response. Tix stops looking at her nails and becomes very serious. "That-" she's cut off by a short girl with brown hair and hazel eyes. Her complexion was olive and she wore a casual waiter uniform. Her name tag said, "Angie". "Here you go girls! Two orange juices and two stack of jacks for each of you." The pancakes were piping hot and steaming. She gives us some syrup to add to them and goes to walk off. "Angel, darling! Why aren't you serving us? Can't you see we are hungry too?" Some guys at a table holler towards her. "Press the button and that might work better. Plus, I don't serve howlers." She flips her pony tail and walks away before they could respond. "Wow. She knew how to put them in their place." I say as I take a bite of my pancakes. Tix snickers, "Yeah, that's Angie, but we call her angel. Cause her food is heavenly. As you can tell yourself." She points to my already half gone food. I didn't even notice I ate that much already. "I guess it really is heavenly." We both laugh and continue with our breakfast. I was about to bring back up the question I asked her earlier, but she got up to go pay Angel for the food. Soon Drake walks in over to where I am sitting and plops down in Tix's spot. "Good Morning, Blue." I cock my head to the side, "Blue? Where did that come from?" He throws me a confused look as if I should've known what he meant. "Hasn't Tix said anything to you?" "I was just about to, but other stuff came up. Scooch." Tix waves her hand in Drake's face for him to move over. "Remember how I asked you if you wanted to know what you looked like as a wolf?" She starts. I nod not wanting to break her focus. "Well, after you shifted. You became a wolf..." "Obviously." Drake says sarcastically. Tix rolls her eyes, "but instead of being a normal colour per se. You were blue. Like dark blue with light blue tips. It was truly beautiful." She stops in thought, I think to reimagine my wolf form. "But, that's not all. You were also sparking with electricity around you." Drake adds. "Oh yeah! There was that too! Your eyes were amber like fire. It was quite captivating. It took everyone almost a moment to get you under control. Even Trevor had trouble. His Alpha commands didn't work." "Does that...make me dangerous?" I ask nervously. "Kinda, but that's only because you haven't synchronized with your wolf." Tix says matter of fact like. "Which," Drake chimes in again, "Is why I called you blue and why I am here. I will be training you to synchronize your wolf." I thought I would be thrown in a cage by now after hearing all that, but I guess it goes to show they are serious about this. "But, I still have questions. Didn't Trevor say he would answer them?" Tix and Drake look at eachother then back at me. "Everyone thought it best to wait til you've controlled your wolf then we can discuss it further from there. They think, well, we all think your wolf came out as a protection due to the emotional stress you were under." I shake my head, "I've been super emotional before, I don't see how thiss is any different." I hold my palms out toward them in the upward position on the table. I guess I saw that as a way to gesture them to understand or get what I am saying. "Good point. It could be because you're around alot of shifters now. Maybe your wolf felt threatened or...something along those lines." Drake gives me a sympathetic look then starts to do the scooch hand movement to Tix. "Ok! We are running late, so let's get going." I nod my head and get out of the booth. "You coming Tix?" she was still sitting in the booth lost in thought when she met my eyes. "Nah, I got some things to take care of. I'll catch you later okay?" I couldn't help but feel she was hiding something. She already dodged my question about her and when she was interrupted...she didn't try to bring it back up. I guess i'll leave it be for now. She will tell me when she is ready. "Alright then, i'll see yah later." I continue after Drake and leave Tix with her thoughts. I can't help but worry about her.
Drake leads me to an open field with some training dummies around us. Other people were sparring or doing some exercises. I could see Trevor sparring with Chase in a dirt filled ring. They had their shirts off and looked to have been out here for quiet some time due to the sweat they've collected. Their bodies were sculpted but not so buff it looked like they take steriods to look muscular. My heart skips a beat when Trevor's eyes meet mine. Why in the world did my heart do that? I barely know the guy! Come on stupid heart think! We make our way over to them and Chase is the first one to start the conversation. "I don't know if blue suits you better or the honey gold." He quirks his head to the side with a smirk. "Well, good thing i'm not trying to impress you then, right?" I tease. "Fiesty! Makes me want you all the more, don't you know that no means yes and yes means yes?" "Yeah, that damage is permanent I see." Serena appears out of a portal and grabs Chase by the ear. "Ow ow ow! Serena let go!" He yelps. "Looks like I am gonna have to experiment til I fix you. You guys continue, i'll take care of him." She smiles at us with sinister look. Poor Chase he just doesn't learn. "How are you feeling?" Trevor's voice turns my head his way and away from Chase who was begging us to help him. "Better I guess? I don't know how to feel at the moment." I cross my arms and shrug my shoulders. "Understandable, Drake can you take over training the new guys to our pack while I focus on Shane?" He nods and takes off towards a group of guys coming to the training area. Wow quite the timing he's got there. "So...where do we start?" I unfold my arms and place them by my side. "With your clothes." "Excuse me?" I snap. He quickly realizes what he said and back tracks. "Oh! No! I meant what you're wearing now isn't fit for what we are about to do." I blush from the over reaction I had. Of course he meant that and not something sexual. Why would I even think that anyway. God! What is wrong with me...
"I don't think I had anything suitable." I shyly say. He puts his forefinger and thumb on his chin and then snaps his fingers. "Give me a second." He then runs off somewhere and doesn't come back for awhile.
I decided in the mean time to meditate. It's something I would do to relax and center myself. The wind was blowing a cool breeze while I sat under the sun with a few clouds passing by. I could hear the grass blowing in the breeze. It was always a pleasant sound along with the tree's. My body relaxes and then suddenly I am pulled into a forest and there is a gravel path. I walk the gravel path into a pond area. In the middle of the pond there is a blue wolf with amber eyes. A blue wolf with amber eyes? I remember Tix telling me what my wolf looked like and realize this must be her.
"You must be my wolf right?" I step towards the pond. She growls at me. "What did I do? I am sorry I wasn't trying to offend you." The wolf then sits and I sit on the edge of the pond. "You don't seem to like me very much, since you're that far away." She huffs at me. A moment of silence passes between us. Then she starts to walk over to me. I don't move so she doesn't think I will grab her. Once she's about a foot away from me...she lays down and looks at me. Almost like she wants me to pet her. "Is it ok if I pet you?" I ask politely. She nods her head and I scoot up to her and pet. After I touch her a wave of memories flood my head. I remember the guy that came to the glass window. He had blue eyes and sandy blonde hair with freckles. He looked shocked to see me. Then I see where they tranquilized him and hauled him off. I can hear them say they were gonna lock him up for future testing. Does that mean he's still alive?
As the memories go on, I see another young girl my age, but her hair is the colour of flames and her eyes are a vibrant green. A name comes to me, "Maze." My eyes tear up because she was my bestfriend. The one I went to highschool with that suddenly disappeared and my parents told me she had moved. I remembered we promised to protect eachother and be there for eachother after we escaped that horrible lab they had us in. "But, how did I forget all this? Why was she in highschool with me?" The wolf then shows me how they hooked me and her to a machine and flipped a switch. When I woke up I was living with my parents. I had different hair and eyes. The golden honey and brown I had come to believe was my natural colours. "So, that's how." I lower my head in sorrow. She then places her head in my lap and I hug her. She didn't even flinch from the action. "I am so sorry you shouldered this by yourself." I hug tighter and she licks my face, as to say she forgave me.
I am then thrown from the pond area to see Trevor looking at me frantically. "Hey. What's wrong?" He's caught off guard by my question. "You were glowing and your eyes were white and then a burst of electricity came from you. I thought you were in danger. So, I tried snapping you out of it." I am surprised by his thoughtfulness to help me. I stand up and brush myself off. "Oh. I am sorry I caused you to worry like that." I bite my bottom lip hoping that he would forgive me. It's not like I was trying to conjure any magic or something like that. I wanted to apologize none the less though. "It's alright. I cleared everyone out of the area just in case. What exactly were you doing to cause that?" He crosses his arms and furrows his brows. "I was just meditating and then out of no where, I am thrown into a forest like place and I see my wolf." Trevor's eyes widen by my answer, "You saw your wolf?" "Yeah and I think I am connected with her now." He nods his head and then clicks his tongue. "Let's see then." In a blink of an eye he shifts and a large black wolf takes his place. I stand back to get a good look at him. I feel electricity at the tips of my fingers and I take that as a sign of my wolf wanting to take over, but we decide to do this together. Trevor goes to launch at me but before he could land on me, I back flip in the air and within moments my wolf is staring back at his about a foot away. Blue electricity encircles me and Trevor tries to come near me. I follow his every move waiting for him to strike. He then starts to zip around me and come at me from my right flank. I dodge but I am then knocked over with him on top of me on his next move. My heart rate increases from the position we are in. I refuse to submit to him so I kick him off and take off running to a nearby tree. He chases after me and catches up with time to spare. I shift back to my human form, but I don't come out of the tree's not wanting to be seen by him. "I have extra clothes for you." He calls at me letting me know he's human again. He tosses the clothes into the tree line and I put them on and step out. "Why did you run away?" He asks curiously. "I, it's hard to explain. I just got nervous is all." I lie. "Alright then we will pick up again tomorrow. Go get some rest." I nod and walk pass him and look back one last time before turning my head forward. Trevor had his hand on his heart and then brought it down and clenched his hand into a fist. Weird, was something wrong with him too? Did he feel his heart race like I did? I shake my head and continue forward to the mansion. I needed to talk to Tix as soon as possible.
