Chapter 105: Chapter 105

“common, aren't you getting overboard, it looks good to me.” Evans' defense adjusted like I expected him to.

“I am not speaking with you , what do you know about clothes, your fiance here is the one I have actual issues with, you are a mother now you learn how to cover up those body parts, what's with this or dress, red in color so sharp to the eyes and the cleavage exposed? What is it supposed to say about our family? Once you get married to Evans you become the center of attention and talk of the city , do you think in any aspect what the headlines would be like if you are seen wearing this?.” she asked, and demonstrated with her hands while batting her eye lash at me.

“mom…”

“nothing from you evans, not even a single word, since you slowed her into my home wearing such… rags then you should as well let me give her my lecture.” she complained, to my dismay and glanced at evans and then to me without having any other thing said.

“You are a young lady, Ciara, a mother and most importantly a wife to my son, which makes you a daughter to this family. You should be putting on something respectable and not nonsense like this.” she complained bitterly, the words I pondered on and against and yet I knew there was no turning back when it got down to that point.

“It's just a dress, keep it easy, I'm here in your home, I feel relaxed. Is there anything meant to be wrong with that?.” I asked her right back as our eyes were fixed into each other's eyes and she one with immediately,  what it is that i was doing, I was challenging her on purpose, she has taken the beat already.

The issue was not mainly about the dress I had worn, it was a deeper conversation on my wedding dress and the unnecessary decorations she had chosen as well.

“A cheap ass baby mama forced herself into marriage with a wealthy man and is still dressed as a cheap whore from the gutters.” she stopped in her words briefly while I passed a very angry and annoyed look at evans.

“that is what the heading would be…the press, they have no sense Of responsibility and words they say it just as it comes to their mind, so maybe yes there are few things that I would know about, perhaps later on, perhaps now but I would not let the mother to my grandchild be assessed in such manner so when I say this is what the ladies in our family wear then that is what you wear.”  she complained instantly.

She had crossed it, the last line of boundary, the last step I could allow that she took, that was the most I could allow.

“this is my weddings and yes I respect you a lot, you are evans mother and soon enough you will be my mother as well, this would be our home, we would be happy and the likes… but it is my wedding, my clothes, my body and I would do things my ways even if I am married to this home, at the mother to my child, this is the latest century nobody goes about judging characters on peoples attire anymore.”

My word had stung her, she took the leap, she gestured as if to speak but held back.her silence, she passed a look to evans as if waiting for him to support her but he looked says with his eyes  back into his food,

“you would do what you want , as fast as you are getting married to my son and a member of this family, you know how important this we didn't have is to me? To us? To the world, so now I know you may not be used to a lot of richness and merriness but this is how things are done here, so you had better get used to it.” she threatened, those words were the exact thing I loathed, she went around having orders passed like no one or nothing mattered at all to her anymore.

“You know what, you are right.” I spoke  suddenly out of the blue, both Rosa and Evans passed me a curious gaze, they had not expected that I would give up so easily.

“what do you mean?, you should go on and argue about your point until she sees it. You can't just give it all up because she says so.``

“Oh I'm sorry, maybe she didn't quite get what it meant, how about we put it this way, Evan's and I agreed that if you would not let me have my wedding, my way there would be no wedding at all.” I announced and a silence rang through the air in the room as everything suddenly became still and silent.

Laughter escaped Rosa's lungs and echoed all through the room.

“Oh please, that was really funny.” she chirped in while her cheeks flushed red.

“She's the right mother, she isn't joking and neither am I. We made the conclusion that either we do it our way or there would be no wedding, no party of any kind anymore.” evans added in and I gloated with an air filled with pride as he had supported me while I watched the sour look on rosas face with fulfillment
