Chapter 104: Chapter 104
CIARA.
“common, help hold him in your hands.” I called out to Evans who had a smug look on his face.
“fine i'll hold him myself, and the bags, and I've spent all day carrying him so my back might as well break and…”
“enough with the complaints okay?., I'll help, is it just Alfred or any other thing?” he asked and took Alfred from my arms while I stretched at my full length.
“I'm sorry, I was not acting up for no reason, I just got a little winded that's all, do we really have to do this my love?.” Evans asked, it was obvious how scared he was at the whole twist and turn of things, it drove him crazy not knowing what it was that had been going up in my head.
And that made things even better, I had nothing at all in my mind, I was merely going with the flow as I intended to see where it takes is, besides I was giving her the respect the nagging woman would have the blame pinned on me either ways if we showed up or not, so why should I not entertain whatever mind games it was that she had on.
“no buts evans, no complaints I don't know why you keep making that face and acting all up like it's way more than that, it's nothing, just a minor mistake and here you are making everything seem like the world certainly would crumble if those things are not directed out, all I'm here for is dinner with your mother, that's all stop acting like it's some world war three or the likes.” I complained, for sure I knew all my words and actions taunted him.
He was dying to break free, especially when I knew he was still walking on eggshells when it got down the marriage plans, I had not agreed into meeting up with his mother or anything of sorts I didn't care I still had the flag of the no wedding at all waved up on his face., honestly but in a deep dark corner of my mind I was just dying to show him that his mother was always the problem and not me.
“good evening mr evans, miss come on in now your mother had been expecting you.” a middle aged lady spoke, she had her hair back into a bun and wore some sort of square shaped heels, a little tall not so high, a blue gown fitted for her body shape and yet the best etiquette I think I had ever seen in a woman, she was good for starters I almost could not help it, I was blown away, but then again what had I expected,
It was obvious they had one of the best, most expensive and well mannered housekeepers.
“wait!.” I called out to Evans who looked relieved that he was finally getting Away from all his problems finally.
“What is it this time love?.” he asked, still cradling up Alfred like he was some sort of twig waiting to be broken by a slight bend.
“common, you can't keep arguing back and forth, besides do you think I look good in this dress?.” I asked casually although I knew that was my first line of defense.
“Yes, it fits you perfectly well and brings out your eye color, is that all?.” he asked fondly and I nodded, that was all I had been waiting to hear.
We proceeded into the building, then the nanny directed us toward the dining hall. Soon we were both walking into a room. I didn't panic, everyone loved me, but something was off with his mother, matter of fact to me it felt like she was pleading to tolerate me.
“Is this not my favorite grandchild?” she spoke as soon as she caught sight of Alfred, took him from evans arms and cradled him slowly, Evan's seemed to be relieved and drew a sight as he pulled out a chair and gestured that I sat in it
I sat slowly and then he took right by the chair next to me.
“isn't this a family dinner mom? Where are the rest?” she asked and I got on defense immediately and noticed it.
“Are they late?.” he asked once more but she scoffed and raised her hands slowly into the air.
“There is no family dinner evans, but if I had not said that you would have cooked up some boring ass story to me about being busy, besides I had more plans to make with ciara on the wedding and isn't it the next time to do that now?.” she asked and a slight giggle escaped my lips, she was just so predictable.
“anything funny? Ciara?.” she dragged the end of my name, with sarcasm laced in her voice.
“nothing, just a little bit of issue, “ I responded almost immediately although I had it done to get under her skin.
“What makes you think I would not visit if you asked? I've always made time for you , stop making me into the bad guy here." Evans complained as he poked at his food.
“manners now boy, it's so sad to see how you've grown over the years just to learn how to abandon your old and sick mother and leave her to die.”
“mother!” Evans yelled, he had gotten quite enough of her sarcastic and fake attitude.
“You'll scare the boy.” she defended as she realized it was not seating well with evans.
“and ciara dear, why are you wearing this to dinner? What if we had guests? Don't tell me if the whole family was around this is what you would have worn?.” she asked, loud enough that i noticed the irritation in her voice.
“I'm sorry, I see no problem with what I'm having on besides I picked it out and Evans here, whom I believe is your son, said he loved it so much so why would I not be wearing it?.” I asked and the anger on her face became evident as she got instantly furious while a line of anger formed on her face.
“what on earth is wrong with you two, please don't tell me this is how you are when going out?, please tell me.its a joke that this is the only dress you have that looks so… open.” I had been dying to hear the last part of her words, I knew she was certainly going to get down to that end, the part of the rubbish talks, I knew it just already.
