Chapter 152: Chapter 152

“Patricia,” Gregory said sternly, his gaze as cold as ice. “Don’t start, and don’t get involved. This does not concern you.”

“Why is it none of my business?!” she suddenly shouted, shocking everyone into silence. “This is my mother we’re talking about! I’m tired of being kept in the dark. I was suspicious of some things before, but I denied it in my mind, thinking there was no way my own father and brother would do such horrible things. But because I love you both and want to know the truth, I need to know more. I want to know what really happened! And you can’t stop me!”

She hastily wiped the tears from her face as she continued, “My memories of my mother are so hazy, but I can remember begging her not to leave us again. My brother was indifferent, but not me! I loved her so much and wanted her to be with us. But I never really understood how much she suffered at that time. I never knew! I even thought that she took her life because she didn’t care about us, that she didn’t care about me anymore! But now I have a chance to have that closure. So I’m sorry, Daddy, but I want to know, and nothing you can say or do will make me change my mind!”

Gregory was red in the face with anger. “Patricia, you—!”

“Guards!” Patricia yelled. “Don’t let my father and brother leave! I want this all settled now, today!”

To Gregory and Christian’s disbelief, Patricia’s bodyguards surrounded them, joined by the venue’s security personnel.

“What is the meaning of this?!” Gregory shouted, his anger clear and palpable. “How dare you all?!”

“Don’t even try to threaten them,” John McGregor said flatly. “Some of them are my own men. Now, if you are as innocent as you think you are, you will shut up, let my brother explain, and allow my son to reveal the evidence we all need to see and hear.”

“Continue,” Patricia said in a calm voice to Samuel.

“Patricia, you brat,” Christian said with a sigh, shaking his head. “You really are a child.”

“I don’t talk to murderers,” Patricia said calmly, not even sparing Christian a glance. “Now go on, Mr. McGregor. I want to hear this.”

Christian gritted his teeth in response, the look on his face murderous.

Meanwhile, Camille stared at Patricia with a mixture of shock, amazement, and uncertainty.

It seemed like so long ago that she had saved this girl from kidnappers. Now in her early twenties, Patricia was a grown woman, an adult capable of making her own decisions and exercising her own authority.

Judging by her icy expression and authoritative tone, Camille could tell that Patricia truly possessed that Callahan blood.

But beneath her current tough and calm exterior, there was still the gentle, cheerful child Camille had rescued.

It was clear now that Patricia wanted closure and justice. Stubborn as she was, she wouldn’t stop until she got what she wanted.

Samuel nodded at Patricia and continued, “The gardener’s name was Winston. According to the staff at the Callahan mansion, Pamela was so lonely that she often sought his company. They soon fell deeply in love.

“Winston had originally come to work there to get revenge for his father, but he decided to leave to be with Pamela. They eloped, which infuriated Gregory. He relentlessly hunted them down, eventually finding them living in isolation.

“Winston was killed, and Gregory forcibly brought a terrified Pamela back to the mansion. He smothered her and locked her away. Then, her depression and grief worsened until she took her own life.”

At this point, the room had fallen into a hushed silence, a tense quiet where one could even hear a pin drop.

Patricia was trembling, tears streaming down her face. She couldn’t even bear to look at her own father and brother at that moment.

Camille’s heart ached for her.

Michael stepped forward, his expression grim but determined. “What you’ve just heard is just the tip of the iceberg,” he said. “We have uncovered extensive evidence of the Callahans’ abuse of power, bribery, and attempted murder.”

He clicked a remote, and the screen shifted to display a series of documents and video clips.

“Here are records of bribes paid to police officers to cover up their crimes. And in this surveillance video, you’ll witness the attempted murder of my sister, Joanna McGregor, orchestrated by Christian Callahan.”

The audience gasped as the video played.

“If it weren’t for the airbag that Grady deliberately made sure to restore, Joanna wouldn’t be here today,” Michael said, his voice shaking with emotion.

He then continued, showing emails, bank statements, and depositions that highlighted the Callahan Group’s internal corruption.

“Employees who threatened to become whistleblowers were mistreated, blackmailed, or worse.”

More and more damning evidence was presented, evidence that no one could even attempt to refute.

The proof was there in black and white. Even Christian Callahan couldn’t deny them all. There was too much.

Michael paused, then turned to the audience. “I must acknowledge someone who played a pivotal role in gathering this evidence. Camille, who’s known to many of you as Christian Callahan’s fiancée, spent years painstakingly gathering the evidence needed to expose these crimes.”

Christian was gobsmacked.

He turned sharply to face Camille, who pointedly avoided his gaze.

“You…” he said incredulously. “I had you delete all of those right before my eyes! How did you—”

“I had my ways,” Camille interrupted calmly, still not looking at him.

Christian was stunned into silence.

The screen then shifted to reveal another series of meticulously organized documents, photographs, and audio recordings.

The evidence was quite extensive, and it was clear that everything was well-researched. Camille really outdid herself with them.

There was definitely no getting out of this for the Callahans.

“Camille’s bravery and dedication are the reason we have this evidence today,” Michael continued. “Without her efforts, Joanna and Grady would never have seen justice, and Christian Callahan would have continued his reign of terror. It was her who tipped me off that the killer was trying to leave the country, but I, along with my older brother Will, was able to stop him at the airport just in time. It was a close call. Because of it, I am indebted to her.”
