Chapter 20: Chapter 20

I leaned against the wall by our front door in Milan waiting for Thiago to get back downstairs. He went to check the house out to make sure it was safe, I really didn't see the point but he insisted. "It's fine." I rolled my eyes and passed him heading straight for the stairs. "Of course it is."
"Don't roll your eyes at me Sophie." I rolled them again even though he couldn't see me, I was in a really bad mood and his presence was making it worse. We made it up to the bedroom and Thiago shut the door behind him. "I'm guessing that judging by the silent treatment you've been giving me all day that you're pissed off about something then?" I threw my handbag down on the couch and turned towards my husband who was already staring at me.
"Thiago, just stop this, it's so late and I'm too tired." I was way too tired to argue with him, after everything that happened the previous night and then coming back to Milan so suddenly, I was ready for a hot bath and dinner then bed. We were meant to come back tomorrow but after my altercation with Carlotta, Thiago was surprisingly okay with coming home one day early. We ate our 'breakfast' at 4pm then we left his parents house around 6pm. Thiago had basically been silent since we left the house in Sicily apart from a few words here and there. Right now he didn't respond to me, he just continued to stare at me, he seemed to be deep in thought about something.
"Actually, I should be the angry one. I haven't even told you all the shit that Carlotta said to me earlier. She was so rude Thiago! She said she didn't care if I killed myself and she thought I did all of it for attention, which I didn't, I just-" Thiago cut off my rant by suddenly striding over to me and placing his lips on mine.
I stood still in shock for a moment before I responded by kissing him back. My hands went to his chest whilst his went to my waist, pulling me against his body. Thiago bit my lip causing me to let out a moan, he took this chance to slip his tongue into my mouth. The kiss became more and more heated as our hands began to roam over each other. Thiago guided us over to the bed without breaking the kiss, he pushed me down and within seconds he was on top of me just wearing his boxers. Thiago began kissing me all over, I could feel the bulge in his boxers against my core as his hands began to push my top up. Before he could take it off me I stopped him, this was going to quick for me. "Thiago no."
"Sophie, come on, we haven't done anything since our honeymoon." I scoffed as Thiago sat up and I followed suit. "That's because of you." He groaned in frustration and shook his head. "I told you I'm sorry Sophie, for everything." I nodded whilst running a hand through my hair which got messed up during our kiss. The sincerity in Thiago's eyes was wearing me down fast and I knew I was going to give in soon. I couldn't stay angry at him, I've spent most of our marriage being angry and I'm tired of it. If Thiago is going to make an attempt to improve our relationship, I should aswell.
"I know you are Thiago, but I don't know about doing this tonight...not after what happened yesterday." Thiago leaned closer to me and caressed my cheek with his thumb. "Let me show you how much I care about you, let me prove to you that what happened yesterday will never happen again, because I'll never let you feel like that again Sophie. I promise." He gently kissed my lips once to test whether I was going to push him away, when I didn't he kissed me again and again.

Thiago lay down next to me, his chest heaving up and down as he got his breathing under control. "You're changing the sheets Thiago." He chuckled and looked over at me. "Only if I get to shower with you tesoro."
I smirked at him and got off the bed, I felt his eyes on me as I walked towards the bathroom. "Come on then."
~ Sophie's POV ~
2 months later
I resisted the urge to let out a groan as a child knocked over yet another pot of crayons on the floor. Seriously, I love teaching but sometimes it gets too much for me.
"Manuel torna e prendilo." (Manuel come back and pick that up.) The little boy gave me a cheeky grin before quickly picking up the crayons, he placed them down and ran off to his friends.
"Devi essere più severo con loro Sophie."
(You need to be more strict with them Sophie.) I rolled my eyes at Caterina and finished packing away the toys the kids were playing with earlier. Caterina was another teacher at the school I worked at, she usually taught the younger kids but today she was helping me with my 7/8 year olds; if either of us were free we always tried to help each other. "Non funzionerà, fidati di me." (It won't work, trust me.) I knew being too strict would backfire on me, I wasn't naturally a strict teacher so if I tried too hard to be firm with them, they'd notice and would just act up more than usual.
Caterina just shook her head at my logic in amusement before making her way over to the kids who were left. It was the end of the day, we were just waiting for the rest of the children to be picked up by their parents. Finally, half an hour later all the children from my class were gone and I was free to leave.
I made my way out to the black Audi TT that Thiago got for me once I started teaching at the school. I've only been here about two weeks, it took me a while to learn Italian fluently but I spent hours with my teacher everyday for over a month and I also started speaking in Italian with Thiago to get more practice.
I managed to get this job quite easily thanks to my husband. He insisted he had no input and that it was all down to my 'perfect teaching skills' but I know he threatened the head teacher, he came with me to my interview and right at the end he disappeared for a few minutes and returned with a satisfied smile. I never actually had the chance to be angry though, because he denied it every time and I have no proof, I couldn't really be angry at him for something which he hasn't admitted to.
I made it home within 20 minutes, it usually takes longer but today the traffic wasn't as bad. I sighed in frustration when my eyes landed on the two familiar cars in our drive way, one of them taking up my parking space. I went inside on the hunt for Matteo, there was no way I was going out later to move my car just because he felt the need to take my spot.
"Matteo!" I listened for any responses but the house was silent. I sighed and put my bag and keys down before going to Thiago's office knowing they were probably busy talking about something dangerous and wrong.
I knocked on the door, after hearing Thiago say come in I opened the door to see Matteo, Angelo and Thiago staring at me.
"Matteo move your damn car." Thiago's brother turned towards me and flashed me a smirk. "I'm a little busy right now." I rolled my eyes and stepped towards him. "It will take you two minutes. Thiago won't mind." I glanced over at my husband who was glaring at me, probably because I interrupted his meeting.
"Can't you just park your car somewhere else. Tell her Thiago." I glared at Matteo, stepping closer as I felt my frustration build. "Don't look at him Matteo. Just move your car."
"How about I move my fucking car so you can park there Sophie if both of you just shut the fuck up." We both turned to Angelo who was glaring at the two of us. "Who involved you?" Angelo frowned at Matteo's comment but I quickly agreed. "This is between me and Matteo, stay out of it." He scoffed and stood up shaking his head. "Thiago I'm going to get a beer, tell me when these two are done."
"Don't you dare go in my kitchen Angelo." He didn't respond to me, instead he walked out slamming the door behind him.
"Thiago don't ever bring them to this house again. I mean it." I sent them one last glare each before storming out of the room. I know you're probably thinking I over reacted but that's just our relationship, we argue constantly. I know both Angelo and Matteo do care about me and I care about them, but we never show it to each other for some reason. We just argue and bicker, it drives Thiago crazy. Usually our arguing isn't that bad but for some reason recently I've just found them more annoying, I think it's because we've become more comfortable around each other so they don't hold back when they try and piss me off.
I found Angelo sitting at the counter in the kitchen with a beer in his hand. "I hope you're enjoying that." He turned towards me and sent a small grin my way in response to my sarcasm. "You seem more up tight than usual, is something wrong?" I shook my head and leaned against the kitchen counter opposite him. "No, I'm just really tired today." I chose to ignore his dig at me because I wasn't in the mood to argue with him, for once. I had been feeling more drained and tired over the last few days; I put it down to the fact I had started teaching again.
"Why? Were you and Thiago up late last night or something?" He gave me a smirk and wiggled his eyebrows suggestively. "You're such a child Angelo, no we weren't." Angelo chuckled to himself just as Thiago came into the kitchen, he came straight over to me. "You forgot to give me a hug when you got back." I gave him a tired smiled and wrapped my arms around his waist, resting my head on his chest. "Sorry, I'm just really tired and your brother irritates me." His chest vibrated when he chuckled, he rubbed my back soothingly. "Don't worry he's gone to move his car, I'll park yours for you later." I nodded whilst Angelo chuckled from his seat. "Bro, you're so whipped."
"I'll kill you with out second thought Angelo, best friend or not." Thiago didn't seem like he was joking, he was probably still annoyed about being interrupted by me, whatever the three of them were discussing in his office before was probably important.
"I'm so hungry." Angelo groaned and placed his head in his hands. "Like I said, you're a child." Angelo rolled his eyes and gave me the finger just as Matteo came in.
"Pizza's here." We all turned to see him holding three boxes of pizza. "The delivery guy was outside." Thiago got four plates out just as Matteo brought the boxes over to me. "We got you a whole one Sophie, since you like to eat a lot." I glared at Matteo whilst Angelo snickered. "You're a dick."
I opened the pizza box and instantly regretted it; the smell of pizza which would usually make my mouth water caused me to gag instead. I felt my stomach turn at the smell and I shut the box, I passed a confused Thiago as I made a b line for the door. I ran through the house to the nearest bathroom making it just in time to empty the contents of my stomach into the toilet.
I let out a groan as my stomach continued to churn while I threw up. Eventually I finished and I closed the lid on the toilet before leaning back, feeling exhaustion take over my body.
"Sophie." I turned around to see Thiago staring at me with concern written all over his face. "I'm fine Thiago."
"Yeah I can see that." He shook his head and came over to me. "Don't Thiago, go and have your food, I'm fine. Just leave me alone." Thiago completely ignored me and kneeled down next to my frail figure on the floor.
"Just shut up." He ignored the glare I sent his way and placed his hand on my forehead.
"You don't have a fever, did you eat something bad?" I shook my head and pushed his hand away. "I told you I'm fine, I'm just tired that's all."
"Yeah Sophie, I get tired but I don't throw up everything inside me." I shook my head and tried to stand up but I felt myself lose my footing as a spell of dizziness took over. Thiago arms quickly shot out to steady me. "Come on." I was vaguely aware of him lifting me up into his arms and carrying me upstairs to our bathroom where he gently placed me down on the floor.
"Take a shower baby, it'll make you feel better." I nodded just as another wave of nausea came over me. "Thiago I'm going to be sick again." He quickly guided me over to the toilet where I threw up once again. Thiago rubbed my back in an attempt to comfort me until I finished. "I'm going to call a doctor." I shook my head at him.
"I'm fine Thiago." He glared at me, the frustration clearly getting to him. "Sophie just fucking listen to me for once. You're not fine."
I eventually gave into him, he helped me get in the shower before he left to call the doctor. He always has the same one on call in case anything happens to him or any of his friends or family.
By the time I finished showering and I got changed into fresh clothes the doctor was here. Thiago and I sat downstairs with the doctor, I glanced over at Matteo and Angelo who were watching the situation carefully, both with worried looks on their faces.
"Do you want them to go?" I turned to Thiago before turning towards the two again. "No it's fine, I'm sure it's nothing anyway."
"Sophie, before I ask you anything else I need to know when your last period was." I tried to hold back a blush at the personal question and I looked down at my hands trying to avoid the eyes of all four men in the room. "I'm not sure, maybe five weeks ago? It's always been pretty irregular though, sometimes it takes 6 weeks or longer to come." The doctor nodded and made a note of what I said.
"Did you experience any nausea before you threw up?" I shook my head in response to his question and he nodded. "Any pain or uncomfortableness during the day?" Once again I shook my head. "Any other notable symptoms over the last week which may be of some concern?"
"Um..not really, I've been a lot more tired recently but I've just started working again so that's probably why, I've also had some headaches here and there." He nodded before placing his notebook down. "Okay I'm going to do a quick ultrasound just to make sure there's no obvious internal...issues." I frowned at the way he worded his sentence and glanced over at Thiago but nodded nonetheless. Thiago helped me lay back on the couch and I lifted my shirt up so that the doctor could place a cold gel on my stomach.
