Chapter 49: Chapter 49
"You are really telling me that Aurora will defeat me in a fight?" He whispered to him with a deep frown on his face. I could see how intimidated he was from the expression on his face, but it would be dangerous to hide the truth from him as that would risk his life, and the last thing I would ever be able to bear is to lose him.
I am alive now because of him, and I won't hesitate to kill myself if he dies. Life has no meaning without him.
Carl heaved a deep sigh and glanced at me with a quizzical look before turning back to Jaden, who was patiently waiting for an answer to his question.
"No only will she defeat you, she will end up killing you. Aurora isn't a wolf like everyone out there. She is a top-ranked demon with immeasurable powers, and her demon scent is no different from that of the demon king." He paused and swerved his eyes at me.
"How did she live with you all in that pack without causing any harm that could make everyone find out about her identity? What is her mission in your pack and why was she extremely happy when she found out you were dead?" Carl threw the question at me as he grimaced in pain.
"I don't think she believed I was dead. She has the ability to find out whether I am dead or alive using the trace of my scent and mind-link of the royal members of my pack...." My eyes popped as something clicked in my head while I was talking.
If Aurora already knew that I had woken up from unconsciousness, thereby realizing I was not dead, then it would only take her a few hours to find out my location, which would end up putting the Lycan family in danger.
"Aurora will be coming here!!! She must have used her dark magic to find my location!" I screeched and gasped while standing up in a rush. Jaden stared at me with furrowed brows, confusion written all over his face.
I really don't know what to do as fear courses through me at the thought of Aurora coming after me in this Lycan kingdom.
"I am sorry. I have to leave, so I won't put this peaceful kingdom into trouble!" I whimpered in panic, and Jaden didn't waste a second grabbing my hand as he stood from his squatting position. His eyes were glinting as he looked straight at my face.
"You are not going anywhere!" He snapped, tightening his grip as his eyes locked with mine. Those ocean blue eyes were now like the storm of the sea, but it was to protect me and drown my enemies.
"I understand that you liked me, but please, my stay here will cause war, not against Aurora alone, but with the demons too. I have to find my way back to my pack to know what to do next. Aurora's plan is to help the demon king bring back his entire legion of demons, and they will be residing in my pack." I cried out as my heart began to thump faster.
"One thing you don't know about the Lycan kingdom is that we have a barricade which no one in this world can break through. I created it myself, and not even the demon king can enter here. It has been initiated, so be rest assured that you are safe because it also hid your scent from anyone outside this kingdom." Jaden said with a smile as he held my chin tenderly, wiping my tears with the other hand.
I shut my eyes and took a deep breath as my mind flashed back to the members of my pack. A peaceful home where all werewolves lived without constant war or attack under my father's rule. It would soon be a war zone where they would all turn into either corpses or slaves to the demons.
My pack would soon lie in ruins, and the demons would only use it as their base to train up themselves for the massive attack against all werewolves. No one is safe.
"Please don't go out. I will visit your pack myself to find out what is going on and will return and tell you everything. Don't go out or you will be killed, and I don't want to lose you." Jaden murmured, his eyes shimmering with emotions that I had never seen in his eyes before.
He truly cared and loved me so dearly, but what he didn't know was that I was the one destined for this fight, not him. The only thing I don't understand is how I would fight with this weak body that doesn't even have a wolf. My mother, who said I was the only hope of my pack, failed to tell me how I would get stronger to fight.
In the real world, the fiery beast that I felt inside me and that also spoke to me in that vision was totally mute and invisible.
Just then, something crept into my mind. It was like the idea came from someone in the spirit, yet I don't even know who. It was like a whisper in my head.
I crossed my arm over Jaden's shoulder, staring into his eyes as tingles spread through me. a hint that he was my mate.
"Before you leave to meet Aurora, please mark me." I requested, and he shuddered at what I just said, his cheeks flushing red as he blushed shyly.
"Are you... serious?" He spluttered while smiling sheepishly. I knew why he felt this way because marking comes with sex, which I am overly ready to offer.
He is my mate, so I don't mind giving him my virginity.
"Yes, I am serious. I want to feel every emotion with you and also be that woman that will stand by you in everything. I don't want to lose you." I purred, resting my head on his chest while he wrapped his arms around me, pulling me into a tight hug.
His strong, pleasant scent of sandalwood and citrus was all I could detect, and it warmed my heart. I wanted him to mark me, so if anything happens to him, I won't have any chance of a second mate.
Aurora won't spare him if he tries to stop her, and I know how stubborn Jaden could be. He might go against everyone and fight her. If he ever gets killed, I will also die and have nothing to lose. That is why he needs to mark me before his first visit to my pack.
The door of the room opened at that moment, and we all turned and looked straight at the door to see Jaden's parents standing there with grins on their faces as they stared at their son hugging me.
His mother looked happier. It seemed like a dream come true for them to see their coldhearted son falling for a girl.
"We are sorry for barging in, but we have a serious issue to talk about." His father broke the silence as they both stepped in.
"What is it, dad?" Jaden asked sharply.
"We will join hands and kill Aurora before she succeeds in bringing in other demons and, most importantly, hurting Ava again." He spilled and we were all stunned to hear that from him. It seemed they had been listening to us all this while.
"Yes, my son. It is our job to protect our future princess and the members of her pack." Jaden's mother added with that cheesy smile as she winked at me.
My cheeks must be pure rouge now because I was blushing so hard. I can't believe I turned from the rejected girl, beaten and maltreated in her pack, into the girl Jaden loved and was actually called the future princess of the Lycan kingdom.
Oh God, this seems so unreal and I can't help my tears of joy as they cascaded down my cheeks.
The Lycans are very powerful, and if they attack Aurora with their armies now that she least expects it, there is a high chance of winning. Maybe this might just be the end of my fear. It might just be the beginning of that happy life I dreamed and hoped for.
