Chapter 47: Chapter 47
I couldn't believe It was the Lycan prince looking at me in such a tender way, and I really thought I was day dreaming or having an illusion because I was already certain that I had killef myself and died. It could be that I was just seeing his face and hearing his voice in pure imagination.
I heaved a deep sigh, closing and opening my eyes again to be sure of who I was seeing in front of me. He smiled at me and appeared too cute to behold.
I might have seen him in the past, but I had never been this close to him, and now I feel like I am going to faint at how perfect everything about him was. One could easily mistake him for an angel.
"What is your name?" I asked softly, and instead of answering me, he placed his soft palm on my forehead, maybe to check my body temperature, but he wasn't aware of the spark my body went through from his touch, which was magical.
I felt a real sensation that forced goosebumps to spread all over my skin while I shivered instinctively. The touch really made me feel good, and I wished he would never take off that hand.
"You are well now. So stand up from the bed and don't dare close your eyes again." He purred, and even as I could see him struggling not to show his happiness, his eyes betrayed him as they twinkled in pure excitement. He appeared so happy that I was awake.
"Am I not dead? How did I survive after killing my core? Oh, this might be a dream replaying the sweet memories I wish I had had in my lifetime." Those words spilled through my lips as sadness crept in.
It wasn't all real, and soon, all of this would fade away for me to realize I was dead already. I sighed and was about to shut my eyes when he took my hand and helped me up from the bed. My feet touched the cold floor and gave me chills.
"You are very much alive because I came earlier and even sacrificed half of my energy to heal you. You owe me a lot of explanation." He cooed. I mean, the almighty Lycan prince, who had been known all his life for being cold was actually talking to me in a very sweet and calm tone.
His face, that was always expressionless or in a deep frown, was now having smiles that didn't disappear all this time.
But did he just say I was alive and he saved me from death?
I can still remember the past when he saved me from my father's punishment, but after then, he denied having a single feeling for me. How could he make such a sacrifice for a commoner like me?
"Where am I?" I asked.
"You are in my room. In the Lycan kingdom for two days. You've been sleeping, and I kept staying beside you, waiting for you to wake, even though I didn't know why I was concerned. I don't know why I cared if you were alive or not." He said with a shrug, moving away from me, heading to the wardrobe.
"Are you the Lycan prince or someone else? You aren't what everyone says you are. They made us all believe that you hated girls and had no heart to love. I also heard you kill girls who are obsessed with you and force themselves on you. How could you do all this favour for me?" I muttered, staring at him in surprise.
He turned from the clothes rack and looked back at me. Our eyes met, and my heart skipped a beat and began to thump faster and louder than usual. My palms became sweaty as I felt drawn to him. Everything about him seemed like he was trying to possess my soul.
His blue eyes were brighter and filled with care instead of that coldness they always have. My eyes slid down to his slightly parted sexual lips, and I gulped. I had a craving to kiss him and feel his body roam around my body.
"Maybe you used a charm on me or something, because I care for you more than I can even imagine. I realized it on that day that you almost killed yourself. Can you tell me if this is what "love" does? He asked innocently, and my cheeks flushed as I blushed at how romantic that sounded, even if he didn't seem to notice.
That question really made my stomach churn as I grinned from ear to ear.
I stepped closer to him and he moved back like he was afraid of something from me. I gasped in surprise at how weakened he looked just now. Was this the almighty Lycan prince for real?
"Why are you drawing back?" I smiled, and he licked his lips, blinked his eyes, and chuckled a bit.
"I am afraid of touching you again. It is making my wolf succumb to possessing you as mine. That wasn't the plan, and I don't even understand myself anymore because I am no longer in control of whatever I do each time I am with you. I am confused," He spluttered while gazing into my face like his life depended on it.
"We are in love with each other. I love you, and you love me too, even deeper," I purred with a short laugh, and he gasped, slapping his lips while staring at me bewildered.
"I was told that my heart could never love any lady and it had always been that way. Am I sure I fell for you? How? What did you do differently?" He asked with a confused frown, and that made him so attractive.
He was ignorant of whatever was concerned with love, and these feelings must have been new to him.
" I already sent my father a suicide note, so now he thinks I am dead. He will be so happy to receive that letter and must be celebrating it. Please, I don't want to return to my pack. They will torture me more than before," I begged, and he sighed before taking my hand into his, squeezing it softly.
"No one knows you are alive. You are safe in my arms and I won't let anyone harm you," he reassured, pecking my lips, which made me freeze as a rush of shivers went down my spine.
"My messenger, Carl, was poisoned by Aurora when he went to deal with those girls that tortured you. What do you know about that lady Aurora?" He asked, and my heart suddenly began to thud very fast. I was panting against my wish and was becoming sweaty all over my body as my inner self began to heat up at the mention of Aurora.
Her name was like a curse on me. It was like a misery that would eat me up one day, and Jaden would just remind me of her, making all happiness disappear from my heart, replaced with fear and foreboding feelings.
"What is wrong?" Jaden asked with a very caring voice, pulling me into his arms while I rested my head on his chest.
"She poisoned Carl. How is he doing?" I whimpered, feeling the heaviness in my heart over my pack. Aurora would destroy them before they realized the mistake they were making. It could have all been avoided if my father had listened to me.
"He is recuperating. I am planning on attacking Aurora myself. I will visit your pack and kill her for putting him in such a condition. No one dares me and go scot free." He growled, and panic coursed through me instantly as I jolted out of his arms.
