Chapter 46: Chapter 46
What she just said hit me hard like a tsunami as my body trembled from the ground where it lay flat. I was lying on my belly with my head raised, fixing my gaze on her. I was dumb and couldn't find my voice even when I had a lot of things to say.
I didn't know whether to plead for forgiveness or to rise and fight back like the alpha I was. Everything was just playing out in front of my eyes like some sort of movie.
"What are you fools waiting for? Or do you want me to kill you? Do you have a death wish?!!" The angry voice of Aurora rang in my ears as she yelled at my bodyguards, who were still shivering and finding it hard to hit me.
The yell from Aurora made them shake harder in fear as they drew closer to me, but they still found it hard to strike their whips at me. For many years, they had been guarding me with everything they had. They'd risk their lives for my safety without knowing that a day would come when they'd have no option but to hit me.
"Please, Aurora. I am so sorry for whatever stress I may have caused you in the past. Forgive me and don't harm...."
"Will you shut that smelly mouth of yours?" She snapped at me and turned to Nana quickly.
"I will give you a reward for helping me achieve this victory. Although you are going to die soon, I will give you the privilege of tasting how it feels to be the princess of a pack for the few days left for you to live." She smirked at her and that seemed to be the moment Nana returned to sanity.
She raised her head, which had been bowed all this time, and stared at Aurora in disbelief and panic. Her lips were shaking as she tried to talk.
"You don't have to say anything. I will leave this pack to enjoy for a few days more while the legion of demons starts to troupe in gradually." Aurora added, and I couldn't believe my ears, as it seemed like I was yet to realize the calamity about to befall my pack.
The entire demon clan that was chased out of the werewolf kingdom would all return and reside in my pack. I would be the tool used to bring destruction to the werewolf community after that bloody demon war in the past.
What I thought was a minor error was about to have far-reaching consequences, and no werewolf alive is safe.
"I can't allow that." The words poured out of my lips before I could hold them back, and I knew I didn't say that consciously. The Alpha spirit and the urge to protect my pack members were what forced those challenging words off my lips.
"You don't have a choice." She shrugged with a snort, like I was a pup who could do nothing. The intimidation was eating me deep, and my wolf wasn't left out in the burning rage that was surging and boiling within me so hard.
"You think so? Then, we both die here!!" I growled in an outburst of fury, standing up from the ground in a swift movement. My wolf's abilities took all over me as it began to force itself out of the confinement.
There was no way I could lie back and not feel my back being trampled on. There was no way I was going to sit back and watch my pack be infiltrated by demons, who would end up making slaves while killing and feasting on many others.
"We aren't dying tofety, pup... If you're tired of living, I can help you die, but it won't be an easy death. You know, I need your stupid mate to cry more bitterly every single moment, so I will make your death slow and the most torturous one in history." She responded to me with a laugh, following up.
"Did you say I would die in a few days?" Nana, who had been mute all this time, finally asked, her voice horsey and rough. Tears were in her eyes, yet I couldn't read the exact emotions from them.
She doesn't look hopeless like me and the two guards present. Although there was fear written all over her face, it seemed there was something she was hiding. And that thing appeared to be a glimmer of hope.
"Yes my dear, but before then, I will order this foolish alpha to make the announcement of your being his official daughter since he has lost Ava. The whole pack will accept you and bow at your presence as the Alpha's daughter and their princess. How sweet would it be? At least you achieved that before death." Aurora's response was chirpy, and she didn't look perturbed at all. She had planned all this beforehand.
"How many days are left for me to die?" Nana asked, as she wiped her tears with the back of her palm.
"I won't tell you so you won't cry and panic all day, little girl..." She winked and left the throne, walking down in a proud manner while swaying her waist side to side.
I was standing with both hands clenched while looking up at her with all the courage left in me.
She walked closer till we were standing a very few inches apart. Her devilish eyes gave me chills of fear, but I stood my ground without showing my fears. I don't know if I was ready to fight her or ready to die for nothing.
If we start a fight here and now, it will only result in my death with a minor wound to her. It still won't stop the demons from doing to us whatever they have in mind.
"I am in a good mood today. That's why you are feeling fit now. Even these weak guards of yours are still alive after disobeying my order. That's to show you how good my mood is. You're lucky. Just get back to your throne and stay calm. Never tell anyone about what happened today. It is between us all here on how we will accommodate all those demons without attracting other packs. " She explained it to me while smiling.
"I am not doing anything that will have my...." That was where my words got stuck in my throat as a hot slap from her lashed at my cheek, so painful and stinging that I didn't know when I screamed in pain, falling to the ground like a baby while hot tears welled up in my eyes immediately.
"Alpha...." My right hand guard tried to check on me, but got knocked out as Aurora's blow struck his chest. He slumped instantly with blood gushing out of his mouth, and that made me enraged.
I felt guilt eating deep in me and that surged with a different kind of force inside me. I felt that greatest push to fight like the powerful alpha I was, and in the blink of an eye, my wolf tore out, making me shift into my huge black wolf with red eyes. Once I shift into it, everyone freezes in fear of how wild I could be in this form.
Aurora was only sneering as she stared back at my beast like it was a pet. Even Nana couldn't withstand the powerful aura from my wolf and cowered away in fright.
I howled, my voice sounding dangerous, but I think it was just for others and never for Aurora. I thought she would be a little bit scared, but the woman hissed at me and made her way to the door.
My little mind thought it was an opportunity to attack from behind, even when I knew how great her powers were. I wasn't just thinking straight. I should have known that I must be risking my life by attacking her first when she hadn't harmed me.
My anger took the better part of me, and I lunged at her, my pointed furry claws with sharp fangs in my mouth, ready to plunge deep into her neck and back, but just before I could touch her. It was as if she had eyes on her back and had seen clearly when I was very close to her.
The way she turned so fast, like the speed of light, was the type I didn't expect. If she wasn't so fast at attacking me back, I would have got the opportunity to back away, but even before I could think of dodging, her long nails poked into one of my eyes and I fell instantly, shifting back to my human form but this time with one eye.
"Your punishment for attacking me. Now go to that throne and be a good boy, " she shrugged before opening the door and walking away.
Ava's POV
I don't know how long, but my eyes really fluttered and, like a joke, they opened to the bright light of the day, hurting my eyes, so I closed them back. I wondered why the land of the dead would be so bright that it almost blinded my eyes.
Gosh!
Why am I even lying down on a bed when my spirit should be floating in the air like the spirit which I have become?
"You are awake finally. I can't imagine how relieved I am just now." A husky but sweet voice filled with passion sounded in my ears like a song so melodious that a smile curled up my lips. My eyes opened again and instead of the bright sun radiating into my eyes, I saw my Lycan prince, the most handsome man, crouching down as he gazed at me with those sexy eyes that made my heart skip a beat continuously.
