Chapter 45: Chapter 45

"What the hell are you saying? You want me to believe they appeared here or what? Don't tell me you weren't standing at the entrance all the time!" I rasped, peering at him as I struggled to push away the creepy thoughts in my head.

My instincts and even my inner wolf were both whispering to me that Aurora might not be a normal wolf as I thought.

"Aurora might either be a witch or a demon and might have really walked in here with Nana in an invisible manner." That was what my wolf was whispering to me, but I wasn't listening to him as I silently prayed and hoped he wasn't right.

The guard fell to the floor immediately, bowing in panic.

"I swear, I hadn't left the post for a single second and my eyes were never shut for a second. My colleagues can be called in too and questioned. Both of them never walked in through that entrance." He kept explaining in fear.

"Then where did they pass through? There is only a single entrance into this place." I asked no one in particular, and the fact that I couldn't throw my question directly to Aurora was something I can't understand.

I knew I was afraid to look at her, and all I wished for was for the guard to admit to having left the door open for at least a second, so I wouldn't see them walk in. I don't want to believe she was using dark magic, which would make what my inner wolf just mentioned be true.

"You can leave now that you are done talking all the trash in your mouth." Aurora huffed at the entrance guard, who was still on his knees. Her voice was in a commanding tone that left me confused as I finally threw my gaze at her with an angry stare.

"Are you out of your mind? Is that a mere filthy Omega commanding my guard? Have you gone mad!!" I thundered at her, and she gave me a sneer for a few seconds before she began to laugh at me.

"Alpha, please give me the order to punish her for insulting you." My two personal guards made the request immediately, breathing heavily as they clenched their fists in readiness to hit hard at Aurora.

"Who wants to punish me? These two weaklings? Oh no, that must be the funniest joke of the year!" Aurora snickered scornfully, clasping her hands behind her back as she started to walk to and fro in authority.

That fear and respect I had always seen in her face in the past was no longer there at all. What I saw now was a different woman, one I didn't recognize as Aurora. There was just something about her that was intimidating to my spirit and broke down every trace of courage in me.

"Alpha, I am sorry, but I can't bear it anymore." My left hand guard stated, and without getting any permission from me, he turned to Aurora and immediately shifted into his fierce brown wolf.

Aurora saw him but didn't even make any movement, still maintaining her cool smile, even when he was growling and displaying his sharp fangs and red eyes.

I was sitting there on my throne as everything played in front of me like some sort of nightmare. It looked so unreal that I hoped I was dreaming. That which I dreaded and hoped not to be reality began to play in front of me.

I saw it clearly with my two eyes as my guard attacked her, only to get struck by a dark fog filled with the forbidden magic of the demons that surged from Aurora's eyes.

As if that was not enough, she stretched out her arm and two midnight black serpents with red eyes crept out and crawled into the guard's body. In the blink of an eye, his body went limp and every bit of his inner energy got sucked out, his skin turning black like charcoal.

This was exactly the dark magic used by high-ranked demons. The magic was all forbidden, and that was exactly the reason why the demons were sent out into the desert.

History has it that it was a spell from the devil to destroy werewolves because he was envious of how the moon goddess got every werewolf to bow and worship her while he was rejected.

No one knew how the first set of demons were created, but sooner or later they spread, and all werewolves and lycans had to come together and fight them all till they were defeated and chased far away, where they had to live undercover.

So many years had passed in harmony around the wolf community. Demons weren't heard of till I became the Alpha of this pack. I still remember all the details from the books about the past demons that I read about. There was no difference between what Aurora just did and all I read about demons.

She wasn't a demon but had been possessed by a very powerful one, and it had taken over her soul because she sold it to the devil. As I watched her in horror, I felt in my heart a sharp pain of guilt, as if it was pierced with a sharp knife and cut into tiny pieces.

It just dawned on me that I had not only given way to a demon in my pack, I had always fed and helped her grow more powerful.

"Ava, who is you all's last hope of survival, is dead, so everyone is in our hand." Her voice, which was smooth like a normal creature before, was now rough, deep and scary.

Her eyeballs became eerie to look at as a pure and pungent demon scent hit us all, confirming that she was a very powerful demon that none of us could stand up to.

Nana was only crying silently, without panicking like everyone of us. She must have found this out before now.

My heart skipped a beat and clenched as I realized the meaning of the last statement she just dropped.

"You say...Ava... my daughter..is our...our...last hope?" I was shaking and my voice was failing me as I spluttered those words while gasping and gulping in great panic. I just hoped it wasn't what she meant. It just shouldn't be that Ava, whom I had been treating so badly and wanted to die all this time, was the only one who could save us.

"Oh, did you just call her your daughter?" Aurora laughed mockingly as she walked closer to me. I was fretting really hard.

"Ava, the girl who you and everyone in this pack resented and abhorred so much for what her birth caused, is the most powerful werewolf ever born, directly sent by the moon goddess to stop the plan of the demons, but all thanks to you and Nana, she finally gave us and killed herself. The most interesting part is that she isn't the one who killed your mate and son" Aurora dropped the bomb that struck me so hard that I felt like slumping.

"You....did?" I sputtered, and she grinned with a nod.

"After killing her, it wasn't enough for me, so I promised myself to extend her misery by destroying this pack. I needed a higher power, so I became the link for the demons to return." She spilled and gave me an intimidating wink, further tearing my heart in agonizing pain.

I wish I had listened to Ava all this time. At least a little chance to hear what she had to say. She gave me the last opportunity this morning to know the truth, but I lost it.

"Hey, Alpha. Get down from that throne and lie on the ground." Aurora ordered, and I didn't waste any time in doing as she commanded. My cheeks flushed in embarrassment, shame, and heartbreak, but I was wise enough not to refuse, or I would lose my life terribly.

"You guards should give him fifty lashes of your whips on his buttocks. That's your punishment for all the stress he made me go through in this pack, "she stated with a shrug as she climbed up to the throne.
