Chapter 60: Chapter 60
Chapter 59
Elena Claw Wolfs ~
I teleported myself and my mom to our home only to meet it in an appalling state. The lycans made body shaped holes in the walls probably when they were coming out of the house but what really shocked me the most was the sight of a bottle and what it contained when my eyes drafted to it. It was erected on the living room's centre table.
Ryan.
I don't know how but he's here in a bottle or was it a jar? I couldn't tell the exact difference.
"What should we do now?" I asked turning to my mom. "I don't think I have enough control over my magic yet to undo whatever Cassius did to him and we can't just leave him like this. Who knows, maybe he has answers as to where there's a blood bank in town." I urged holding the container in my hands.
I looked into it and saw Ryan. He is seated inside the bottle helpless and extremely small in size. How is that even possible say more of happening? I'm guessing we have the lycans to hold responsible for it. He looked back at me. I can see him trying to say something but I just can't hear him properly. His words were in squeaks.
"You're right!" Sofia said looking into the bottle as well.
She tried speaking to Ryan but her expression assured me that she to couldn't understand him.
"This is one of the moments when I wish I have my spellbooks alongside my magic back in me." she continued.
"You may not have a firm grip over your magic yet to enable you raise him from whatever Cassius placed him under but I know a spell that can make us hear him perfectly well and he, us too."
"I'm up for it. Tell me the words and what to do. I don't want to waste any time with this." I said enthusiastic and confident that I can cast the spell without a fault.
`Sofia smiled.
"Alright but first, go and change into something else and have something quick to eat. Those apples in the refrigerator should do. This spell has a demanding side and that's your physical strength. It'll drain a whole lot of strength. I encourage your enthusiasm but I have to warn you. All magic comes at a price. Just make sure you have what it takes before going along." Sofia advised taking the jar from my hand and carefully laying it on the table.
"Hurry up!" she urged making me increase my quick steps to even quicker ones.
I rushed upstairs to put myself in order and have something to eat according to what Sofia said I should. When I came back, I found her seated on the couch obviously lost in thought. She isn't thinking only about what to do next. Freeing Ryan and finding a portal mustn't be the only thing on her mind and the way she sat lost in thought sold it all away.
She must be thinking about her people but most importantly, her husband, Fred... Frederick.
"Mom?!? The Spell? I'm done with eating and having a change of clothes as you instructed." I said pulling her out of her thoughts with my hand on hers standing right beside her.
"How long have you been standing here?" she asked recovering from the appalling effect that my voice had on her.
"Long enough to realise that its not just me or Alessia or Gar or Charlie or even Ryan who is stuck in a jar whom you're s worried and thoughtfull about." "It's him, isn't it?" I asked walking closer to her talking in a soothing voice. "You miss him a lot, don't you?"
"Let's get to the spell!" Sofia said using her finger to wipe out an already visible tear running down her cheeks.
She said that just to clearly try to dodge answering my question though I can't blame her. It can't be easy. She must really not want to talk about it. I can't help but feel some guilt within myself considering the fact that I am the primary reason why she had to leave him in the first place.
I'll just go with having her change the subject.
"Yeah! We've used a portion of the time we are limited to so let's be careful how we use the rest of it." I said taking a peek at the timer on my wrist. "And I'm sorry."
"Take this." I heard my mom say handing over a piece of paper with some written down words. "Cast it."
I took the paper from her hands and stared my eyes into it. I can't understand all the things written in it. For one, it isn't in any language I am familiar with and for another, some seemed too long to even attempt to transcribe them into making any sense.
"Ryan is out. Point out your palm and cast the spell so that we can hear his words and he'll be able to hear ours." my mom said with an urging tone towards me.
"How? I don't even understand anything in this. The words aren't in English." I replied dropping the paper on the couch due to the confusion and frustration building up in me.
"Let me ask you something. Right now do you believe in yourself that you can do this?"
"Of course. I can. You've helped me believe that."
"Then give it another try. You are more powerful than you think. You have witch blood in you. You understanding the language at this point isn't necessary to enable you cast it. It's not something you'll learn in class at least in this world. Elena, the language flows in your blood like every other witch and warlock." she added taking the paper and putting it back in my hands with an assuring smile.
"You can do it."
I took another look at the paper and to my amazement, the letters and symbols began changing until they appeared before me in a language that makes sense in my head. I gave my mom a glance with a smile and she nodded giving me some room as she walked back. I began to cast the spell pointing my palm at Ryan.
"By the power of the goddess, I command the airs of nature. Come and fill this cursed creature. Enable us understand with ease everything that we say to each other as well as others who will it for moments of time unending." I casted the spell moving my palm around Ryan in a circular.
For the brief moment I casted the spell, I felt like someone else. This time, my magic felt different. STRONGER.
"Did it work?" I asked with some level of confidence trying not to doubt myself and the spell Sofia gave to me.
"I believe so but there's only one way to find out." Sofia replied before giving Ryan a poke in the head.
"Sofia? What was that for? It's kinds enough that I'm cursed. You don't have to make things even more annoying for me than they already are by rubbing it in." I heard Ryan say turning to Sofia.
"It worked!" I and Sofia claimed simultaneously.
The spell worked.
I can now understand what Ryan says and if I do, it also means that he can hear us too. I felt a wave of energy flow through me and I tried to keep on standing but I am too weak in the knees to do so.
I fell making sure to land on the couch which I did. It must be the aftermath of casting the spell. Sofia had mentioned that it demanded a price, this must be it. My physical strength. It drained some of it. Maybe too much.
"Elena, it's better you stay down for a while. The demands of the spell aren't so high but if you don't relax, your body will have difficulties doing a lot of things requiring your physical strength." she advised.
"I don't understand. What's going on? A moment ago, your voices were amplified sounds that made no sense to me but now, I get to understand what you're saying and I guess you can understand me too?" Ryan said to Sofia. "Let me guess, you had Red cast a mutualizing spell?"
"Yes, but it's Elena now. I told her everything. Don't be offended Ryan, I had to do that to make sure that the spell worked. The lycans are out of the picture. We've taken care of them but right now, we desperately need your help with something." Sofia answered.
"What do you need? As you already know, in this world, precisely in this region, I'm a celebrity so is it something requring my image?" Ryan asked using the lid of the jar as a chair as he sat on it. "I'm sure in time, I'll catch on with whatever happened to the lycans."
"A Blood Bank." "We need to find a vampyre blood bank somewhere in NewYork. Do you know where we can find one? It's a matter of life and death." I said trying to sound as urgent as the situation demands.
"I'm tempted to ask why you need to find one. Do you intend to take her to the other world?" Ryan asked pointing a finger straight at Sofia and then to me. "Right now, that would mean suicide for both of you."
"I... We have no choice. Cassius threatens to kill Alessia if she doesn't get there in time." "It's a long story but we got to hear Cassius through one of the lycans and he wants Elena."
"You know it's a trap right?"
"Obviously. But If we don't, he'll kill Alessia who I doubt is even alive." "Ryan, we just have to."
"Then we better get going. The only blood bank in New York isn't on land. At the least not the land you're used to." Ryan said after giving a sigh.
"What do you mean by it isn't on land?" I asked in bewilderment.
"The only vampyre blood bank is not in the city. It's in a coven." he took a pause before he continued. "That it's beneath the Statue of Liberty." Ryan added putting me and my mom in shock.
"The Statue of Liberty???"
in the review section as it keeps me motivated and a direction to improve.
Lots of love, Ulric.
