Chapter 54: Chapter 54

Chapter 53

Garfield West ~

Just as Red or now, still, ‘Elena’s’ mom was spitting out more unbelievable words about herself and Elena, somehow, the lycans got themselves into the warehouse. The voice of the leader made it clear when he spoke from the high walkway placed on a higher floor of the spacious warehouse where Elena had used her powers to get us to.

I came out of the car with the few things I could regard as weapons that I had found in the warehouse when Elena’s mom told me and Charlie to barricade the entrances and the exits.

Luckily, ever since Elena got us here, the light system in the building seemed to be working just fine making the warehouse as illuminated as we needed to see the lycans without any difficulty.

“Elena, get out of the car!” I said to Elena on my way out watching the lycans charge violently with nothing but their claws and teeth as means of attack.

“What?!? You want me to get out? With those… those things?”

I had a second thought about exposing her to the lycans by telling her to get out of the car even if it was to make a run for it so I again told her to remain in the car. Magic or no magic, none of these monsters are laying a finger on my Elena. I shut all the doors of the car with Charlie, Elena and her mom inside.

Hopefully, a crowbar and a baseball bat can do some major damage to those freaks and get them off our backs just at least until we can get them out of our list of worries. This was definitely not how I planned my Halloween to be. This picture is far different. I wanted to dress up as a lycan for the fun of it and have a normal Halloween evening with everyone else at the festivities and not have to put up a fight with actual supernatural creatures so I could protect Elena.

“Come on freaks! Trick or treat!”

The first lycan came towards me and a heavy blow on the head followed from the crowbar and two others on the neck. I hit them with all the strength I could muster. That must’ve done a number on the lycans because after that, one by one, they raced back in a way that assured me that it was definitely in pain. However I wasn’t so surprised when the same lycans came back with such agility as the first time.

They must’ve healed.

The myth about silver being the weakness of lycans must really be as true as these lycans themselves. Exempting their leader, by my rough count, the lycans were about fourteen in number.

Was there a chance that I can face them and survive?

A chance that they won’t eventually get me down and make way with Elena?

No! I refuse to have such thoughts.

I kept on hitting every lycan that dared come close to the car with the crowbar. At a point in time, some of them leapt on me ripping me from the crowbar and the baseball bat. They pinned me to the ground, about two of them and the others made way for the car.

I tried so hard to free myself from their grip but it was of no use. I couldn’t even get them to shake. Of a truth, their strength exceeded mine. I decided to make out for my final and last option.

The pocket knife that Ryan gave me back at Elena’s house.

I may not be their primary target but they are hell yeah mine.

Just as I was about to reach for the pocket in my lycan costume where the knife was, my eyes captured a lycan pulling a door from the car out of its hinges. That alone made my heart race with increasing and rapid beats knowing entirely well that that door was the one which was right beside Elena.

I reached with all my strength to the pocket. All my sense were elevated with every part of me wanting to get these lycans as far away as possible from Elena.

“Get away from me! Let me go you monster! Let me go!” I could hear her screams and it made me even the more angry than I already was because of these monsters.

“What are you waiting for? Bring her heart out so we can signal the sire and get done with this goddamn mission!” I heard the leader say with so much darkness in his tone.

“Don’t! Don’t lay your filthy hands on her! Don’t you dare touch her!!” I yelled at the lycans but it was fruitless.

A lycan dragged her so forcefully out of the car and when I saw her, out of the car, the lycan had pierced her arm with his claws making her blood show evidently as it flowed out.

The subsequent events that followed were beyond my control. I jumped in anger releasing myself from the grip of the lycans that held me down and raced with so much speed towards Elena. I held the lycan that took her by the neck and punched him in the gut with my other hand repeated times and topped it all with a hard blow in the rib and I watched the lycan go up in the air and land on the pile of wood by the main entrance.

Everything around me seemed to be happening in a slower motion than they should. I was the only one moving faster than everyone else including Elena. Something in me wanted to rip these lycans apart and I could feel it too. I let the inner voice take control and in the twinkle of an eye I had sent all the lycans surrounding the car in opposite directions, in pain.

I made sure of that.

I could feel a high voltage of electricity flow through me like never before and all I think to be right is putting these lycans on their knees. No, killing them feels way much better!

“Gar, stop!” I heard Elena’s soft voice and it made me halt in my steps.

I looked back to meet her with eyes that made me realize her fear. She held my hand back from punching a lycan. Looking at her hand, I discovered that I was no longer the person I knew myself to be, at least in my appearance I wasn’t. My form had changed to that of the lycans I had seen online and in appearance, besides the fact that I seemed to be brawnier than most if not all the lycans, I was in so much areas similar to them.

I kicked the lycan instead. I released my hand from Elena’s grip and turned to have a good look at myself and my surroundings. It was then I realized and came to remember, the things I had just done. I had single-handedly taken down the entire pack of lycans.

“He…hurt…you…I…end…him…” I said before I released my hand from Elena’s grip.

I went straight for the lycan on the pile of woods. He was obviously healing. When I’m done with him, he’ll never come close to my Elena, even in death. I got to him and with a quick scratch used my claws to rip out the throat of the lycan. I punched his face so hard and continued until I had succeeded in breaking all the bones in his face.

Obviously, the lycan was lifeless but I still didn’t stop punching him all over his body. He shouldn’t have touched my Elena. My hands were stained so much with blood.

My anger was fueling my actions.

“NO…ONE…TOUCHES…MATE! NO…ONE!!!” I roared out.

My costume was a mess. I was a mess. Somehow, I had transformed to a lycan and ripped it open in so many places. I reach for my pocket and brought out the silver pocket knife heading for the leader.

“NO ONE!”

in the review section as it keeps me motivated and a direction to improve.

Lots of love, Ulric.
