Chapter 50: Chapter 50
Chapter 49
Red Adamson ~
“Lycans, bring me her heart!” it happened so fast and before I could count to two, the lycans came charging at me with their fearsome appearances.
Fear crept into me at the sight of the lycans fixing their target at me. Why do you want my heart? I felt like asking Cassius. I needed no one to tell me that his intentions were pure evil but what do I have to do with any of this? He seemed very patient though.
None of us here including myself could control any command of magic so having me as he desired shouldn’t be so hard. He was taking advantage of the fact that we were powerless to enjoy the moment. If only I could control the power everyone keeps saying is within me but I can’t. Not yet at least.
Gar stood in front of me, Charlie and my mom with nothing but a pocket knife to defend us. I admired his courage but deep down, I know that I won’t be able to forgive myself is something dreadful happens to him because of me. I tried so hard to do something, anything. I wanted us out of here but my magic wouldn’t just listen to me.
It was almost like there was an obstruction. I could feel it.
“Not so fast!” Ryan said running a lycan through with some kind of pocket knife similar to Gars. “I don’t know how you managed to get this far but this is it! I might not have my powers to take these puppets of yours to their graves but I guess this would have to do. The silver in this world would do that just nicely.” Ryan added and he pushed the knife deeper into the lycan and pulled out the knife from the lycan with a swift pull.
The lycan began to deteriorate to ashes at a very escalating speed until there was nothing but ashes left of him. Ryan must have coated those knives with pure silver so that must be their weakness – SILVER. I expected the lycans to stay away at the sight of the knife and what it had did to their buddy but they didn’t.
Why?
“One down, more to go!” “Gar get them out of here! I’ll hold these beasts down!” “Gar!!!” Ryan shouted with one hand on the knife and another clutching to his side.
The lycans came heading for me paying no attention to Ryan but he was quick to deal with them with his little knife as he jumped in the air beside them and speedily stabbed them both. Until now, I never knew that Ryan McFlame was a martial artist. The knife was indeed small but he made good advantage of it. There was a lot that I don’t know about him.
Even in his pain, he managed to hold back some lycans long enough for us to make our way to the front door. Gar also helped using his own knife but he was not as skillful as Ryan is. Gar led us out of the house and into my mom’s car.
Except Ryan.
“Enough with this nonsense!!! I could get her at the snap of a finger….”
“Yeah, that’s is you were in your own body but in there, you’re weaker!” Ryan said before he aimed at the leader and threw his knife at him with all the force he could muster.
“Foolish!” The leader said pulling a lycan towards his posterior so the knife stabbed him and not he after which the lycan fell to the ground, in ashes and the knife fell with it, out of Ryan’s reach.
The leader used magic to raise Ryan up in the air.
“I would’ve killed you but then, your powers would fade out of existence with you and I sure don’t want that to happen.” He said with a crooked smile. “I’m getting Elena! Neither your silver weapon or your martial art skills or even both is going to change that. You can’t stop me. No one can”
Anthony casted a spell on Ryan and he reduced drastically in size until he was no more than a key. He made him dormant and waved his hand over him. Ryan was now in a jar with not so many holes placed on the table.
“I’ll be back for you but for now, I have more important things to deal with.” “Well? Don’t just stand there you idiots, Follow them!!!” Anthony roared before he waved his hand over the air and he disappeared in a cloud of red smoke.
“Faster Gar! Faster!! I’m too young to be a lycan’s dinner!” Charlie said looking at the back of the car one too many times.
I could see it in the eyes of Charlie that he was scared. Maybe even more than the rest of us. I began having second thoughts about allowing him to go this deep with this madness happening. I could trust him what I couldn’t trust was fear. I couldn’t even trust mine. I wanted to be free of it and face these beasts like I should but my fear keeps holding me back
“Mom, what’s going on? Why are those…. Those…. Those things hell bent on having me? It’s just, the more time that passes by, the more things increasingly make no sense. I’m… I’m…” I managed to say looking at my mom with tears welling up in my eyes.
“Red, don’t call them things. They’re lycans. You can’t blame them, can you? They’re acting on the will of Cassius. They fear him.”
“Yeah Mrs. Flora? What’s up? All our lives are at stake and we don’t have the slightest clue why. I’m driving at a very high speed and if a cop signals me to pull over right now because of it, I sure as hell wouldn’t, not when I have supernatural beasts after me.” Gar said as he drove.
“That’s it. I’m calling the cops! We definitely won’t make it out of this alive if I don’t involve gun-power into this.” Charlie said reaching for his phone in his pirate costume.
“Oh really? And what do you intend on telling them exactly? That you’re being chased by demons? Or I know, that you’re being attacked by lycans on Halloween?” “I’m sure glad that they won’t think you’ve gone nuts.” Gar said with a chuckle.
“The cops would never believe you for one and for another, you really think that a couple of police officers would take down magical creatures from another world with weird powers?”
“Then what do you suppose we do, O wise one?” Charlie replied sarcastically. “All I wanted was to check up on my best-friend in her ward but here I am caught up in this madness about creatures from another world and some douchebag called Cassius and let’s not forget the mind-blowing things that everyone seems to be pulling off.”
“That’s enough boys!” shutting both Charlie and Gar up.
in the review section as it keeps me motivated and a direction to improve.
Lots of love, Ulric.
