Chapter 49: Chapter 49

Chapter 48

Garfield West ~

“Ryan, you didn’t really think that Cassius would send just four lycans after the trybrid child, did you? Or that he would send us here with just lycan abilities when he has numerous ones to share? Did you?” the voice said exposing his first of claws.

Lycans!

Probably, they could have been here the entire time. Somehow, the lycans were able to camouflage themselves from the sight and hearing of any of us. The first that appeared out of nowhere gave Ryan a blow in the gut and then, the rest of his friends came out from hiding.

Some walked down the stairs, some coming out of the different corridors and rooms. They were all over the place and when they had themselves in the room with us, they stood behind the first who appears to be their leader.

My first thought was to protect Red but another thought came suggesting that I go for Charlie and I ended up going with that. I got to where Red, her mom and Charlie were and stood in from gesturing a warning with my hands to the lycans. Deep down, Red has all the protection that she needs but same can’t be said about her best friend.

Even though I knew in this state I could do nothing to keep them away, I still gave it a shot.

“Wonderful! Cassius actually sent us to put an end to the trybrid child but doing him the honors of ripping out your hearts from those cages sounds pretty nice.” The leader said walking straight for Red with his friends behind him shape-shifting to something else entirely but I couldn’t decipher what they were any more.

It is hard to believe that what I had grown up knowing and have thought to be nothing but stories that could give youngsters goose bumps and freights for so long is actually a reality in another world. Here are lycans who claimed to be sent by someone named Cassius with abilities of some other and probably other creatures of magic besides their natural lycan abilities.

No matter what, not a single lycan is laying a finger or whatever they have for fingers on what is mine! Not a single one!

“I’m feeling generous seeing as this world celebrates my kind today and so, I’ll give you a choice to make. It’s either you and the rest hand her over to us and we get her heart to Cassius and make this all end quickly or you do what ever is in those foolish minds of yours’ and at the end of it all, we still have what we came here for.” The lycan said making a halt and folding his hands.

The room that we were was very spacious and it enabled a distance between us and them.

“You have until the count of ten to make your decision known or else, I’ll make mine.” “One!”

“I take it that you are the alpha of these lycans. Whatever Cassius has promised you cannot be compared to what would happen if you do the evil he sent you to this world to do. He can’t….”

“Just hold it witch! I didn’t ask for any of those shit and I certainly didn’t come all that way to here for this mission just for you give me a welcoming sermon. Give me what I want and I’ll be on my way. Or would you prefer I have a change of heart and just go with ‘force’? Make your decision or I’ll make it for you.” The lycan interrupted Red’s mom using two claws to signify ‘two’.

Why the hell was he giving us a choice to make? I didn’t care what the choice proposed because I knew where I stood and that was with Red. I can’t help but wonder why Cassius wants her heart. I turned to look at Red who was holding on to her mother’s arm firmly. I could see so many emotion in those eyes – Confusion, anger, curiosity and a bit of fear.

She had so much to be afraid of. The insane dude who wanted to kill for starters not to mention what her life like mine is turning into – surrounded by questions which answers were at hand but the feeling of truth in them made us even more worried than our ignorance.

“That’s close enough pal! Even before you gave us that choice to make, you already knew what it’s going to be. I don’t give shit that you’re a lycan but no one and I mean no one is laying a finger on my Elena.” I said bringing out the pocket knife that Ryan had given me. “Ryan!!?!!” I called out to Ryan.

“Arrgh! Arrgh! Geet…geeet… Elena…. out…of …. Herree!” Ryan said struggling with his words in a stutter before he finally managed to get up with his hands clutching his side.

They were stronger than he remembered.

From the other side of the room, Ryan struggled to make his way to us the leader counting all the same.

“Time’s up!” “So what’s it going to be?” the lycan asked with an evil smirk. “What is this idiot doing?” The leader mumbled something under his voice almost like he was in anger.

“Shut the fuck up Tony! I’m very sure that the late king didn’t pick you up from the slums and build you into this just so you could end up doing something so dreadful to…. to…. to his…. To his daughter” Ryan said with his eyes straight at the lycan leader.

“We’re not giving her up! If you want to get her, you’ll have to pass through me. Don’t do this! Deep down, you definitely don’t want to be one of Cassius’ puppets just like the rest alpha’s are.”

“You see, that’s where you’re wrong phoenix! I’m not one of those you call puppets to Cassius! I am Cassius! At least I am in the mind of this generous fool. Mind-possession spells are surprisingly easier to cast than I thought.”

“Hello, Sofia.” “Lycans! Bring me her heart!” the leader said putting his hands behind his back as he turned walking to the nearest chair. “I hope you have an aversion to the show Lessia. You’re going to hate what happens next! While I’m going to enjoy it.”

The creatures behind Anthony walked forward with strong steps and stern eyes on the young princess. With every step that they took, I held my silver knife with more force that the handle should could have broken.

“She’s mine!”
