Chapter 34: Chapter 34

Chapter 33

Alessia Claw ~

“Frederick!!!” I ran towards Frederick when I noticed that Cassius was gone and so was the flower he had sought after.

Clearly, our plan to put an end to Cassius had failed. As soon as the flower was plucked out of the Tree of Magic, a powerful wave of dark energy ran through this earth and I assume the human world also.

With that flower, Cassius could do unspeakable things, things that the elder witches can only but dream of, things that can affect the balance of the human world and ours too, things that could change the fate of supernaturals’ everywhere.

I got to where Frederick laid unconscious and held him by his hands trying to use my powers to revive him.

It was of no use.

Without doubt, whatever happened to him was far beyond his natural healing. My skin made contact with his and his recent memories flashed before my eyes right away. Unfortunately, Frederick was the one who had taken the flower off the tree and surprisingly, he gave it to Cassius without a first or second thought. Certainly, he must have been under some sort of bizarre spell that even under the influence of the Tree of Magic, he couldn’t overcome it.

Frederick must have been under some sort of indoctrination or pawn spell meant to keep away his free will casted by no other person but Cassius.

“No!!!” I screeched becoming conscious of the effects of what Cassius has made Frederick do to himself.

I tried all the healing and resuscitation spells that I knew. I even conjured up the most powerful spell books that I had from the coven but it wasn’t still sufficient. Nothing I or anyone else does would be enough to save Frederick now.

That was the last flower left on the tree.

Cassius had gotten the flower and its unlimited resource but instead of him paying the price or getting the punishment for doing so, he made my brother do and get it. I looked around the small island and all I could see were the vampyre, warlock, witch and so many other miniature armies he had brought together just to face Cassius and whatever army of lycans he could command here.

How could I tell them that they have lost their king’s soul to the underworld where no one except Hades himself has access to the power granting arrival and departure out of there?

How could I explain to them that he had failed them?

How could I explain to them that by now, Cassius could have made it half way to the human world with the evil intent to do harm to their only hope of victory over this madness that he proffers?

How?

Tears flooded my eyes as I turned and saw that Frederick’s body was magically decomposing to ashes one part after another. I summoned great strength upon myself to cast a spell that would preserve his body and not keep it deteriorated for as long as I wanted. Even if I physically wasn’t strong enough to completely cast the spell, my emotions completed it.

His punishment for taking the flower out of the tree was that his soul would be enslaved in the underworld to Hades at least, not minding his status here in the physical world for a thousand years afterwards, he could be reincarnated into another person and another life entirely when the horrors arer over.

Frederick would no longer be the vampyre king and our dynasty would come to an end seeing as he hasn’t gotten an heir from Sofia, yet. Even when he gets reincarnated, he would no longer be the Frederick that we always knew.

By the rules, his soul was meant to go to the underworld but not his body. Preserving his body gives us hope and a shot of his soul returning back to it instead of him returning as an infant in the next millennium at minimum rate.

“I wouldn’t stop looking until I have found a way to bring you home! Endure it all! It would only be for a short while! I promise!” I whispered into Frederick’s ear.

“…the lycans are gone without a trace and by what we observed all around the field of battle, so is Cassius. Everyone is waiting for news.” “I want to tell them that we have won but something doesn’t feel right about the blast that ran past us during the lycanslaughter. By the way where is his Majesty, King Frederick?” Hendrix, the commander of the vampyre and the united army asked eyes set on me.

“We lost Hendrix! We lost so badly!” I replied giving way and allowing him to have a look at Frederick’s corpse.

“Don’t tell me….”

“Yes! For some reason, Frederick was the one who took out that flower from the sacred tree. I have tried all that I could but there is no sort of progress he is under the influence of something more powerful than me.” “Even if we try combining the powers of all the witches and warlocks in this world, we both know that would be making a waste of our time.”

“Besides Hades, no one yet has been known to have power over the underworld.” I added walking to the bank of the island with Frederick’s corpse floating and following me from behind.

“We have to tell them the truth! Our only hope now lies in the hands of the moon goddess. Our only hope is my daughter.” I added looking at Hendrix with sadness written all over me.

“What else could I have to tell them? It’s not like…”

“Look!!”

“The Tree of Magic is going away! The Tree of Magic is no longer with us!” I said interrupting Hendrix watching the sacred tree slowly fade out of our reality.

Once again, the tree has moved to some other destination somewhere in time and space. Still, after the warning placed by The Divine Sisters, we couldn’t avert the damage that was to come if ever Cassius gets that flower. It is almost like it was fated. As the tree slowly faded away, the island it occupied faded with it.

The island was no more.

in the review section as it keeps me motivated and a direction to improve.

Lots of love, Ulric.
