Chapter 46: Chapter 46
“But you have no control yet,” He said with a warning tone.
I simply ignored him and made my way down the stairs towards the dungeon. My heels clacking against the stone ground. I wore a strapped, pale green maxi dress that was cut just above my ankles.
I hear Cassius follow behind me. According to him, the dungeon is located at the very bottom of the castle and there are about six floors. The dungeon is hidden and no one knows about it except for the royal family and some few servants that guard the place.
The castle dungeon only imprisoned selected people. While on the other hand, there is also another dungeon located at the east but that is a place for all criminals around Syrr.
“You don’t have to see them now if you’re not ready,” Cassius said in a calm tone.
“I'm not that person anymore. I am no longer weak and vulnerable. Hell, I will not be kind and stupid anymore.” I said with greeted teeth. I do not know if I'm angry towards Cassius for not being able to trust me or the fact that those animals are still alive and breathing in the castle's dungeon.
Cassius fell silent.
“They tortured me, Cassius! They locked me up in that shitty basement to rot. They fed me little pieces of bread only to let me survive the day as if I am some animal they own! If you didn’t save me that night, I would’ve died!” I exclaimed, my heart beating so fast out of sheer rage.
When we reached a huge metal door, I stopped in my tracks. There’s two men guarding the heavy-looking door. The two stood up and greeted us with a bow.
I turned to Cassius, “I can manage myself from here,” I stared at him blankly.
Cassius halted and nodded, “I’ll give you five minutes and then I will come get you,” His tone was surprisingly calm and authoritative.
“I will kill them,” I said firmly. We heard the door being opened as it made this annoying noise from its rusty hinges.
Cassius only looked at me with a serious face, “Five minutes,” He repeated and I turned my heels and walked away.
I took big strides towards the long hallway. There were prison cells on each side. The people looked so weak and almost unrecognizable because of their thin figure. Their skin sunk and the bones were already visible. I’m certain they are being starved to death.
A couple of cells show solely the skeletons and skulls; some already decaying corpses. Not only were vampires being imprisoned, there were also human beings.
My steps halted in front of a big cell, big enough to lock up five people. I saw Daniel at the corner with his knees pulled up against his chest, almost unconscious. Gideon and Sage lie flat on the cold cement along with a few rats and roaches.
Then on the right side near the metal bars, I saw Ambrose with his eyes tightly shut. His head leaning on the metal bars helplessly. He was sitting in a pool of green water. His toes were bare and filthy like his skin. They all wore clothes not thick enough to provide warmth in this cold weather. It was a disgusting sight.
All four of them had tight chains wrapped around their ankles. I almost vomit at the ghastly smell of their decaying bodies.
“Ambrose,” I called
The man looked up slowly and his eyes widened when he saw me. There I saw for the first time, a look of helplessness in his gray eyes.
“Feyre,” I could barely hear his voice. It was strained and raspy.
“Help me, please. I will help you recover your memories as you wish. I know a witch that can help you, she can make you a potion. I assure you this once you set me free from this place.” It was like a whisper. I didn’t know hearing him beg like this can be so satisfying.
Even in this situation, he manages to think only for himself. He can’t even beg me to help his friends. Selfish bastard!
I squatted in front of him so I could level my face with his.
I gave him a sympathetic look. “Are you certain you can help me?” I asked softly.
He nodded his head slowly, “Yes, I do but you must help me first so I can bring you to the witch.”
“Should I help you?”
Ambrose nodded again, “Yes,”
“How about your friends?” I looked at the other three. They were still unconscious.
His gray eyes darkened, “Help me, Feyre.” He simply said, not even taking a glance over at his friends.
I barked into pits of laughter, “Sick bastard,” I mumbled as I held my stomach as my laugh echoed inside the dark dungeon.
His gray eyes were clueless at my sudden outburst. I saw Daniel now looking at me in dazed. Gideon and Sage sat up. Maybe my laugh woke them up.
I turned to Ambrose, “I apologize for that. I must be crazy for laughing at your selfishness. God, I never thought someone could be this annoying and abrasive. I’m just so fucking pissed.” I pressed my lips.
“Well, this has been fun. Oh, shit. I only have a minute left.” I cursed at myself for wasting a minute because of laughing.
Ambrose glared at me, “I will kill you once I get out of here,” He spoke firmly.
“You tortured me, Ambrose. Maybe I should be the one giving death threats here. You locked me up and made me think guilty for Izaac’s death when it was your fault in the first place. It was your plan all along, wasn’t it? You put him there when you know I was unable to control my abilities. You made me drink those stupid pills to give me hallucinations. You made me think I’m going crazy not to be able to recognize a hallucination from a memory.”
“I didn’t make you do anything, angel. You did everything yourself. I only pave the path for you. I only convinced you to take the pills and you did. You know, I was going to help you recover your memories but the moment I found out what you are. I had to make you mine. You were the key to the throne.” Ambrose looked at me with his usual stoic expression.
“You filthy animal,” I clenched my teeth. I can feel my blood temperature rising, the loud beating of my heart wasn’t as loud as what my mind tells me on how to murder these animals.
“If I was handed another chance, I would do it all over again but this time, I won’t make the same mistakes again of letting you escape. I will do whatever it takes for my plan to be successful.”
“I feel sorry to say that your brilliant plan fucked up and there will be no second chance because this cell is going to be ashes within twenty seconds.”
I smirked when Ambrose’s smile fell. My laughter bounced to the stone walls as the fire from my feet traveled towards their cell. The metal bars melted and so are the chains on their ankles. The flames grew bigger, louder than their wails.
Ambrose kneeled on the cement. The sound of their searing flesh was music to my ears. Screams of torment echoed inside the dungeon.
Daniel screamed endlessly, his body pushed on the wall. Gideon and Sage went crazy trying to put the flames out. Gideon rolled over the dirty water but it was of no use. My fire is strong and it can’t be put out by water as long as I control it, it will spread like wildfire through every pores in your skin and it will be painful enough to not let you breathe.
“You were no friend to me, and If I would have been given another chance to start over, I would have set you on fire the first time we met in the woods back in Emberton.” I spoke with my gaze focused solely on them.
I smiled at the sight of smoke and fire.
“Three, two and one.” I flicked my hand in the air and the smoke vanished outside the small window of the cell.
I saw no one inside the cell. It was empty except for the stone walls. Even the chains and the metal bars were gone; the metals turned into ashes. As well as their bones and skulls.
“Feyre,” He walked up to me.
His eyes landed on the empty cell. “Oh, wow. That was fast.”
I laughed at his reaction, “Yes, you said I only have five minutes.” I pressed my lips.
“Hmm,” He raised his brow and narrowed his eyes at me.
I hummed as well. The corner of my lips rose. I tiptoed and damp a quick kiss on his lips. He smiled and I pulled away.
“Let’s go. I need fresh air. This place is disgusting.” I intertwined our fingers and made our way to the exit.
