Chapter 47: Chapter 47
The moment we stepped foot outside the dungeon, I sighed in relief. It was suffocating there and I could barely breathe. Cassius placed a hand on my back as we walked back to our chamber.
“You haven’t told me,” I bit the inside of my cheek. I may be a bit nosy to ask this but I needed to know.
“Told you what?” He didn’t even glance at me. He knew what I was talking about but he won’t say a thing about it.
“About what happened between you and Ambrose,” The moment those words escaped my lips, I saw a flash of displeasure in his emerald eyes. His lips pursed as his jaw moved.
“Ambrose was my half brother. We share the same father. Back then, we were close like real siblings. Hell, he was my best buddy growing up. It turned out Ambrose wanted the throne more than our friendship.”
I remained silent as I listened to him. Every now and then, I would hold his hand and rub my thumb on the back of his palm.
Cassius inhaled sharply, “Then my mother, the Queen, banished Ambrose and his mother from Syrr when she found out about their plan to take over the royal family. We never saw them again.”
“How come you invited Ambrose to the ball?” I raised my brow at him.
He looked at me and a smile played on his lips, “Well, I wanted to see you and that was the only way I could think of to make you come to me,” We halted once we reached the door to our chamber.
I chuckled, “Hm, it was your scheme after all. It was childish but convenient nonetheless.” I placed both of my palms on his chest and swiftly reached to his lips for a kiss.
He kissed me back slowly, our lips moving in sync. I wrapped my arms around his neck and played with his hair. Cassius groaned, pushing my back against the door with his hands placed on my waist.
“I love you,” He whispered between our kisses.
“Hm, I love you too my lord,” I whispered huskily.
As soon as I opened the door, I walked in and Cassius followed from behind me while holding my hand.
“Oh,” I stopped in my tracks when I spotted someone in our bed. She was sitting on the edge of the bed with her legs crossed.
“Rosamund,” I called softly, approaching her.
Cassius looked at her intently, “Hey, princess. What do you need?”
“I was waiting for Mother,” Rose turned to me with a sly smile.
I stretched a smile, “What is it?”
“I want to talk with you alone,” Rose looked over to his father with a smile.
“Cassius,” I looked at him and nodded my head.
“Why can’t I stay? I’m part of the family.” He pushed with a frown.
I laughed, “Of course you are but this is mother and daughter time.”
He pressed his lips and glared at Rose before leaving.
“I never expected father to be so clingy when it comes to you, mother.” Rose chuckled, burying herself on the white sheets.
I simply laughed with her as I sat on the bed. She tapped the space next to her and I smiled before lying next to her on the bed. I smiled when she scooted closer to me and inhaled my hair.
“Mother, can I sleep here tonight?” She murmured against my chest.
I barked into laughter, “Hm, so that’s why you want your father gone,”
“He won’t allow it for sure, ” She giggled
“Sure thing, princess. Sleep here tonight.”
I felt her arms tighten around me, “Thanks, mother.”
“Tomorrow morning, we should pick a gown for your party. Sara will come here to help us with the sizes and shoes so we should be up early.” I mumble in a low tone.
“Yes, mother.” She said softly, making me smile.
A week has passed by in a blurr. The castle was busy preparing for the grand party. It is Rosamund’s birthday tomorrow and the decorations are already up and settled.
A group of three ladies went inside our chamber. I greeted them in all smiles as they bow at me. They approached Rosamund and greeted her as well. I assume they were the one sent by Sara to do Rosamund’s gown.
They introduced themselves politely. Mara started opening her kit and they all started doing their work.
“In what color would you prefer it to be?” Ariella asked, showing us some color shades for the gown.
“I want it to be blood red and black. Not too tight around the torso, please. I want to be able to breathe throughout the party.” Rosamund smiled at Kalia, the tailor who is currently measuring her waist size.
Mara also kneeled to get the size of Rosamund’s feet for the heels. The Queen has already chosen a pair of glass heels so they just need her sizes. I did see the sample heels and boy, they were looking luxurious and sparkly. I am sure they may cost diamonds.
I was beside Rosamund the entire time, giving suggestions for her gown as well. After a few hours, they exited the chamber and told us they will be delivering the gown by the end of the week.
I’m pretty sure all of us are excited for the big day. Everyone is already in the dining hall including the youngest prince, Damon. The King raised his goblet and so did we. The Queen was wearing her smiles throughout the evening.
“The invitations are already out yesterday,” Vienna informed as she drank from her goblet.
The Queen smiled, “All is settled. Rosamund, darling, are you ready for tomorrow?” She glanced at Rose.
Rose nodded with a smile, before she could even reply Damon butted in.
“Of course she is, mother.” Damon looked at Rosamund and gave her a silly smirk.
Rose rolled her eyes, “You should’ve come back never,” She smiled fakely.
Damon glared at her and they were darting glares at each other making the Queen annoyed at their behavior.
“Now, now. Quit it, the two of you if you don’t want to feed Leondra for a week.” The Queen told them and they shut their mouths in an instant.
Leondra is the name of the Queen’s pet. It is a darkly creature that feeds on bones and decaying corpses. It is some type of vampire dog that has a line of sharp fangs for grinding bones and a dark furry skin that cannot be seen at night.
“Now that Damon is back, he must also help with the party. The party should run smoothly and end by midnight.” The King announced while Damon frowned.
Rosamund flashed a teasing smirk seeing Damon looks miserable at the moment. I guess this is why Rose hates Damon. The two can barely get along throughout dinner. Oh my. I just wish the event tomorrow will go as smoothly as possible.
