Chapter 25: Chapter 25

Just as I let out an exasperating breath, the wind flew across my face. My hair was being blown by the wind, each strand felt ticklish against my pale, and porcelain skin. I was again feeling lonesome on the castle’s roof with no one to talk to. It’s been weeks again, days have passed so fast.

It seems as if all of them felt distant and oddly cold just like the snow in Emberton. Unlike these thick clothes that give me comfort and warmth, the vampires here were the exact opposite.

Last night, I was awake the whole time and I am sure as hell that it was not a nightmare that I saw. I was just simply sitting at the edge of my bed, staring at the window. I was admiring the full moon and the stars that seem to only appear when I feel miserable.

It was so vivid, the vision I had.

I saw a city, with massive and old-looking temples. There were fewer trees but it didn’t make the scenery look less picturesque. What confused me the most is I saw the view from above, I saw myself floating with the clouds.

Below me were vast land and the dark, blue sea that seemed to be endless. It was something that you would not dare to forget because of the island that floats, the foggy clouds that are keeping some of the temples hidden from the heavens and a huge ruin that stood proudly on the highest part of the sky.

Then an image of an elderly woman popped into my head with a sympathetic look on her angelic face, her hair was sparkling in the sun and she had these eyes so bright but it held melancholy.

My breathing hitched as I stared in agony, “Mother!” I cried painfully.

I begged them to stop but they never did. Until she was put into her end; ashes came flying and some were on the ground where she stood. They burned her alive, not even sparing a look of mercy. The crowd was just there, standing and watching everything unfold before their very eyes; eyes that held either pity or satisfaction.

“We will never forgive traitors.” A manly, deep voice boomed as he darted at me a look of disgust. I do not recognize his face, nor his voice.

The crowd cheered, their voices were deafening.

That’s when I was tapped into reality. “Feyre,” Someone called out.

I jolted up my seat with my eyes widened in bewilderment. Panting, my body was shaking from the intense heat. I have sweats all over my body. I looked around my room to see who's voice it was. There was no one in the room.

“Who's there?”

I heard shuffling voices in my head and then the heavy breathing of someone.

“They're not real.” The voice whispered as if she was just right beside me.

I shivered, “Who are you? Tell me your name. Why are you doing this? Do you know me? Answer me!” I could add more questions but I know she won’t be answering.

“Your friends, they’re not real.” She said, once again with a breathy voice.

A knock interrupted our conversation, if you even call that a conversation. It’s like me talking to the wind who won’t answer.

The door opened and Izaac walked inside with his hand in his pocket, the other one was holding a tray. He was wearing his usual hoodie and disheveled hair. Oh, not to mention, those kind green eyes that look at me softly every time we make eye contact. He knows very well how to make girls fall onto his feet, it’s sickening.

“Are you awake?” He asked, even though he’s clearly seeing me sitting on the edge of my bed with eyes wide open. I’m not asleep.

“Were you having another episode?” He gave me a tray of food and another pill bottle since I already finished the second one.

Oh, but it’s not another episode. It was real. Almost vivid like a memory, was it?

Instead of replying, I shook my head. Silence fell upon us again like yesterday and the day before yesterday, and so on. In short, we haven’t been talking. Well, I was the one not talking to him because since that day he slept with Saskia, I decided to not give a shit anymore and focus on gaining back my memories. I don’t have time for jerks like him.

It’s a slow process but I’m remembering, right?

“Eat your lunch now.” He said softly.

I nodded, “Yes, thank you. You may leave.” I fake a smile.

I saw Izaac glancing at me from my peripheral view. I was staring down at my meal and I heard the door closed. A sigh of relief escaped my lips as I started eating. After finishing my food, I gulped down my pill.

Then the next morning, I’m here on the castle’s roof. I come here often whenever I want to watch and enjoy the scenery. I just felt like I’m fond of high places. I like seeing the world from the above; it feels like you’re on top of the world. It helps me think sometimes, the fresh air and the spectacular view.

Ever since that night I met up with Cassius, I’ve never seen him again. Perhaps he’s busy with being a prince and all the responsibilities, not to mention he will become the next king in a few years.

These past few days, my body felt most weak and fragile. I also heal very slowly now and sometimes, I feel my chest tightening and I would have a difficult time breathing.

“Feyre?” Someone called my name from below, outside the castle.

“Are you there?” It was Gideon.

I smiled, “I’m up here!” I yelled

In a swift second, a burst of wind came fanning my face. Gideon’s bright blue eyes beamed at me the second he saw me.

“What’s up?” I asked him

Gideon shrugged and stared at the endless forest before our eyes. He looked so peaceful in this state.

“Is it okay if Izaac brings you food from now on?”

“Why?” I asked, my heart was beating so fast.

“I won’t be able to assist you because Ambrose gave me an order to buy some things in Romsbohr.” He explained, frowning as if he’s really devastated by the news.

A chuckle escaped my parted lips. “It’s fine. But how long will you be away?”

He tilted his head, “Maybe a week?”

“Oh, are you leaving today?”

Gideon nodded, “Unfortunately. I’ll be leaving tonight.” He sighed.

Huh, then there’s nothing I can do. “Be safe then.” I looked at him and stretched a genuine smile.

“I will.” He smiled back.

My brows furrowed, “But where exactly is Romsbohr?”

“It’s called The Wizard’s Town, located in the east. It’s a small town, a ghost town rather but it’s quite useful. They sell pretty much all the stuff.” He winked.
