Chapter 26: Chapter 26
The castle appeared to be quieter without Gideon around. I just found out that Sage is no longer available since he had been busy with tending to his sick mother. I was left with the three silent ones so here I am in my room, lying in bed. So much for not being dead yet. This feels like torture!
I’m here on the bed lying while staring at the ceiling, wondering who the hell that elderly woman was. I felt it; the rage in me was just uncontrollable. Seeing her being tortured and burned made me livid. I may not remember exactly what happened but I remember the emotions I felt. The worst part was I could not even do anything to save her.
I got up from my bed when I heard a knock. Only half of my body is covered in duvet. I leaned back onto the headboard and continued reading a book of poems.
“Morning, Feyre.” He said, looking at me intently as if waiting for me to open up my mouth.
I simply nodded my head, not sparing him a glance. He placed a tray on my bedside table.
“What are you reading?” He asked
I looked up and saw him staring at me with an odd grin.
“Some book I found in the library.” I replied before I zipped my mouth again. I don’t feel like talking when I’m busy reading.
Silence covered the whole room with only the noises I made from turning the pages and his heavy breathing. Is he not leaving?
Izaac kept pacing, looking around my room. His gaze stopped on my paintings that are placed on one corner.
“Did you paint these? They’re wonderful.” He raised a canvas in the air and eyed it with awe.
“That’s Saskia’s piece.” I said and turned another page.
His eyebrow shot up, “Oh.” He says and puts back the canvas.
“Well, then. If you need anything, I’m in my room.” I felt a burning stare right at my face before I heard his footsteps walking towards the door.
The door made a creaking sound as it closed. Once it’s closed, I put down my book and let out a long sigh. That was the longest time he stayed inside my room and it was suffocating. After that day with Gideon and Izaac in my room, I loathed him even more.
I slouched on my headboard and stared at the window.
“Where is it?” I groaned.
I just put it here. I’ve never even touched it so I’m pretty sure it’ll be just right here. Oh, god. Really, Feyre? You misplaced it?
“I just saw it here yesterday,” I pointed at the table beside the window.
The book that Cassius gave me, it’s missing. I must have misplaced it. But where? I only store things inside my room. Surely, it’s just here. So I kept on searching my room. I even scanned the closet and every drawer but there’s nothing there.
I sat on the bed with my shoulders down. Stupid! I can’t believe I lost it. The book of angels, I haven’t even read the first page!
It just disappeared. “Great! Just great.” I mumbled to myself.
“Shit, shit, shit.” I muttered when I felt another bump on my throat. God, here we go again.
Sprinting in panic, I went in front of the bathroom sink and held up my hair. I puked all the blood aching to be let out of my system; some have dripped down my nose as well. The blood was at its darkest this time, almost black in color. It scared me for a moment.
I bawled when I felt a sudden piercing pain in my head. Like my head is being punctured by small needles and being smashed on the wall. I screamed on top of my lungs until the pain made me faint.
“That’s what she gets from protecting a traitor like you, Feyre. She has become a traitor herself.” The man smiled mockingly, he was wearing a long, rugged robe. The man held a golden staff in his hand; his hair was as dark as his eyes.
“Come now, it’s your turn.” He raised his staff in the air.
“Please don’t!” I cried
His staff stopped in the air as he looked down at me. “Please what?” He paused for a moment.
“Show you mercy?” He asked, a mocking smirk appeared on his lips.
The crowd made some noise. One swift move of his hand and they all shut their mouths like the obedient dogs they were. The man smiled widely and turned his head to me.
“How dare you grace our kind with evil? You think our father will spare your filthy life? Think again!” He roared in anger.
He darted at me a disappointed look, “Now, now. The decision has been made. It’s no use crying over spilled milk.” His voice was laced with mock. He stood with pride and power, no wonder every angel is scared of him.
Suddenly, a huge blast of air came from nowhere. Everyone whispered and shocked with another archangel in the sacred temple.
“Brother, I will take care of her.” The lady in her long, white robe said as she stared at me. She had red strands just like me.
“Fallon,” The man spat with a warning tone.
“Do not interrupt my mission.” He gave her a glare.
The lady laughed, “Relax, brother. This is Father’s order.” She smirked
“I will accept any punishment, please!” I kneeled in front of the temple and begged. They are after all archangels; they can change anyone’s fate.
“You’re playing a game again.” His brother said, I can sense authority in his tone.
The lady named Fallon only smiled at her brother knowingly.
“I assure you, I am not.” Fallon glared at her brother.
She walked towards me with bare feet; she put her hand below my chin and raised my head up to look her in the eyes. Her eyes were silver gray and they were sparkling like stardust.
“Take my sister and clean her up quickly!” Fallon shouted at the two girls holding me from both arms. Her tone was different from how she looks, she may be looking all calm but no, she has a temper just like her brother.
I was taken by the two girls and everything was just darkness.
A soft voice sang into my ears, “Wake up, my dear.”
I let out a shaky breath, gasping for air as I looked around the room. I was back in Emberton. What the hell was that? Was that another nightmare or a memory?
