Chapter 50: Chapter 50

Cassandra’s POV

I was fast asleep and forgot to keep track of time. It was an hour later when Julian and mom came upstairs to check up on me did I wake up.

"It's perfectly okay, Cassie. We were having the cocktail hour and no one missed you as such. It's good that you could rest a little,"

said, mom.

"I'm feeling perfectly fine now, mom but I need a little help getting ready," I told her.

"I'll send Azura,' said mom, walking away.

"How are you feeling, now?" asked a worried Julian.

"I'm fine now but why didn't you wake me up?" I asked him.

"I thought you needed the rest," he shrugged. Azura walked inside to get me ready and Julian walked out. After fifteen minutes, Azura helped me get ready in an emerald gown that Amelia had designed for me. She had to fix my hair and makeup as well and thankfully I looked presentable enough. We went downstairs to the party venue. It was a gala party at the huge tent-like structure that was put up overlooking the beach. When I went inside, everyone was enjoying themselves. Amy told me that Max was well looked after by Nora, and had gone upstairs to take a nap after having his lunch. I felt relieved and now could just relax and enjoy my time.

The first dance was about to start and Julian led me to the dance floor. The music played and although we had practiced a little, we pulled the dance well and everyone cheered for us. It was an out-of-the-world moment as the song, "Can't help falling in love with you" by Elvis Presley resonated in the background. Our near-perfect performance brought a tear to mom's eyes.

"You performed so well!" said Julian and I smiled at him.

"So did you," I told him. He led me back to the table while the others also walked up to the dance floor. Anna couldn't dance at all as she was getting mild cramps.

"I think the babies are planning to be born soon," she said with a nervous laugh.

"Aren't you feeling scared?" asked Azura.

"A little," said Anna. Adrian walked up to Azura and pulled her to her feet.

"Where are we going?" she asked as he caught her wrist and pulled her along with him.

"Dance with me, Azura," he ordered her. We smiled at each other knowingly.

"How soon are they going to announce their wedding?" asked Amy.

"Maybe two weeks?" said Claire with a laugh. It was a standard practice with the Henderson brothers to get married in two weeks' time!

We laughed at her comment.

"I wish to deliver my babies before they did. I can't walk, or dance or enjoy at all this way," protested Anna.

"Even me," said Amy.

"I have a long way to go," I said and they agreed.

"Are you planning a honeymoon?" asked Claire. I shook my head.

"No, it's postponed till after delivery," I told her.

"But she's staying here for a few days. With Alexander, Carolyn, and Arielle here, Max would be happy and Cassie can take a rest," said mom. I nodded. I loved this beach house and it was as beautiful as any exotic location in the country.

"That's a good idea since I think Anna might give birth to the twins soon. Arielle needs to stay here," said Claire.

"How about you? How long are you staying?" mom asked Claire.

"A week more. Jason will be returning tomorrow," she said.

"Okay, c'mon everyone, time for the toats," said mom, getting up to go to the dining area.

I was relieved being already ravenous. We were all led towards the huge table laid out in the corner to accommodate fifty people. With three such tables, everyone got to choose a seat of their own choice. Julian and I sat holding hands as the toasts and the speeches went on. At last, it was all over and we got to taste the mouthwatering food laid out on the table. I steered clear of the seafood as it made me nauseous again. All throughout the meal, Julian didn't once remove his hand from my thigh, branding me with his touch.

I didn't object, we belonged to one another for life, after all!

The cake cutting ceremony was over and I was looking forward to getting some rest.

Anna was getting mild cramps, so after dinner, she went to her room with Stefan's help. Amelia and Tristan also followed soon. Claire went up to feed Carolyn. Aunt Caroline and Avery had left for home as her husband was back and came over to take them home. The rest of the relatives also started leaving and the environment was again relaxed.

Julian and I went upstairs to our room while the rest of them enjoyed the party and dancing.

"Alone at last," said Julian with relief.

"Yeah, I'm exhausted," I said, lying down on the bed.

"How does it feel being my wife?" he asked, taking off his suit and lying down next to me.

"Thrilled, on top of the world, it's a surreal feeling that I cannot describe with words," I told him. He smiled.

"I know, I'm feeling the same way," he admitted.
