Chapter 49: Chapter 49
Cassandra's POV
We walked towards the back door from where the procession would walk down to the gazebo where Julian was waiting for me with Stefan, Jason, Adrian, and Tristan. The Gazebo looked too beautiful, just like an exotic dream straight out of some wedding magazine and not mom and dad's backyard. I was amazed at the transformation. The color combination, the floral decor, everything gave it an ethereal look, just like it happened in fairytales or movies. Through the glass doors, I could see Julian looking all around. He even scanned the windows of my bedroom upstairs. He might be getting impatient to get a glimpse of me and my heart skipped a beat seeing him look so handsome like Prince Charming, but only mine.
"Someone's really getting impatient to get married," said Claire in a sing-song tone, noticing his brother's restlessness.
Everyone laughed and I couldn't help the blush that crept up to my cheeks at her words. Anna was having a tough time standing and waiting and Martha brought her a chair to sit upon while we waited for the officiant. Arielle and the others arrived at where we waited. Dad said, "The officiant is here. Shall we start the procession?" I nodded at him.
As we looked towards the gazebo, we saw Julian getting down. What was he doing? My eyes widened with disbelief.
"I bet he's considering whether he could sneak in and check Cassie out," said Anna and everyone laughed. Thankfully Stefan held him back and he stood to attention beside him.
"He'll faint when he sees her," said Azura proudly, "After all Claire and I have got her ready," she added making Claire too look proud of her handiwork.
"Well done both of you," said mom looking at them appreciatively. "You're really looking exceptionally beautiful, Cassie," said mom smiling at me. I was overwhelmed by their kind words. They had done so much for me that I was indebted to them. I was indeed blessed to have such a beautiful family.
"Thank you, mom," I told her while Martha opened the door and Mom and Dad walked out, followed by Arielle and Max, then by Azura, my maid of honor. Anna, Claire, and Amelia, my bridesmaids wearing swirling ocean blue dresses, walked out after Azura.
Max went to Julian and squealed, "Daddy, mommy's looking so pwetty," he gasped making everyone smile at him while he looked around for me, to check for himself.
I blushed and with red cheeks, followed my bridesmaids down the aisle, clutching onto aunt Caroline's hand for support. I took a deep breath to calm my nerves down. Everything would go fine, there was nothing to be nervous about, I mentally said to myself. I was going to get married to the one I love, the one who is my everything. It is really happening.
As we walked slowly down the aisle, I looked at him and smiled seeing that I was indeed right. He was wearing an identical tuxedo just like Max and looked extremely dashing, like some model on the cover page of a fashion magazine. Even the boutonniere was the same and it suited his look. While I shamelessly checked him out, he stood like a statue, staring at me with eyes mirroring his deep feelings for me, as if mesmerized by me. How did I get so lucky? I thanked God mentally for everything that he has done for me. I reached the gazebo and aunt Caroline handed me over to Julian.
"Take good care of her, son," she said, choking on the last word as tears of happiness glistened in her eyes. Julian smiled at her warmly, his eyes holding a sincere promise of a happily-ever-after.
"Always, Aunt Caroline," he promised. His hand was firm as he led me up to the altar where the marriage officiant was waiting for us. I took a deep breath and looked up at him with a radiant smile. We were now ready to get married after seeing each other.
The entire wedding ceremony went by in a dream sequence, our vows moved the audience to tears. Julian held my hands throughout the ceremony and then the ceremony was over and we were pronounced husband and wife. Julian kissed me for the first time as my husband, sealing our relationship forever. We held hands and were led out to the beach for the photo shoot. I picked up Max and held him between us for a few photographs, having neglected him since morning. Julian held my shoulders possessively and as we looked into each other's eyes a photograph was clicked which I had no idea would be my favorite for the rest of our lives.
"Say cheese, my dear wife. Why are you scowling?" he asked with a grin and I gave him a look. Was I really scowling?
"Girlfriends giggle, wives scowl. Didn't you know that?" asked Tristan while Amy scowled at him. "See what I mean?" he said and they burst into laughter.
"How mean!" said Amy. "Wait till I catch you," she said, chasing him as fast as her pregnant body could.
I laughed at their antics knowing that Tristan was just pulling her legs, he loved her intensely.
"Are you feeling sick again, Cassie?" asked Julian, taking Max from me. I nodded, as I was indeed feeling a little drained out.
"Just exhausted,' I said and he frowned.
"Did you eat anything?" he asked with concern. I shook my head.
"I forgot. Martha has my snack pack with her," I told him as it had completely escaped my mind. Julian called Azura and she rushed to get the food for me. After eating a little I was better again. We posed for more photographs and I went up to my room to change into something light for the reception party while Nora brought Max to change him into something comfortable and feed him as well.
"You can rest for half an hour Cassie," said Julian. I nodded and he helped me ease out of my wedding dress and wore my pajamas.
"I'll send someone to get you," he promised me. I nodded and lay down for a few minutes while he went downstairs to the party.
