Chapter 48: Chapter 48
Cassandra's POV
Thankfully, I felt much better, and after a bath, I was totally refreshed. Mom was worried about me all the time and strangely on my wedding day, I wasn't at all missing my own parents. I knew that wherever they were, they were feeling happy to see me finally settle down in life. Mom came over to check up on me.
"Don't stay on an empty stomach. Eat small meals throughout," she advised me just as gran had.
"Yes, mom. Azura already has a snack pack ready for me. Martha ensured that we keep it with us in case any of us feel dizzy," I told her.
Claire ushered me to a chair as she would be working on my wedding hairstyle. She fixed my hair into a beautiful braided updo with loose tendrils hanging down, kissing my shoulders, softening the look. She placed jeweled hair combs to enhance the look. I was totally in love with what she did to my hair.
"Like it?" she asked when she was done. I admired her handiwork and smiled at her.
"I love it, thanks," I told her.
"Great, now for makeup," she said, and I sat still as she applied some makeup. I wondered what Julian was doing, how he might be looking. He had hidden his tuxedo till the last minute in Stefan's house and I had no clue as to what he was wearing. I didn't show him my wedding dress either. He was so curious that he wanted to have a first look but considering my health condition, he changed his mind. Ever since he has been messaging me on my phone asking me for a selfie. If only mom knew!
Finally, my makeup was done. Claire had kept it to a bare minimum since I was nauseous to the smell of makeup. Strangely, I didn't get any smell when she used the makeup on my face.
"It's for sensitive skin, it's herbal makeup," she informed me. Finally, it was time to put on my wedding dress.
Amelia designed for me a delicate white gown with a sheer neckline and floral lacework outlining the fitted bodice. It had a full, floaty skirt cascading down giving it a long, flowy, and romantic look. Azura helped me with the zip and illusion back piece.
Gran came into the room and was pleased with my look. She gave me a pair of matching exquisite dangling Swarovski earrings with rhodium plating to wear with my wedding dress.
"Thank you, Gran," I said feeling overwhelmed but she waved me off, leaning closer towards me instead.
"Don't stop at two and I'll shower you with more," she said as if it was a secret. Everyone giggled knowingly since gran always told everyone the same thing. She wanted a battalion of Hendersons all around her!
She left and Claire comforted me. 'Gran's just messing with you. It is yours and Julian's choice about the number of children you two can manage. As for me, my family is complete. I now need to bring these two up," said Claire, and I nodded in understanding.
Aunt Caroline and Avery came in with Max who would be my ring bearer. Mom and Julian had got him ready, in a miniature navy tuxedo wearing a matching bow with a dusty miller and blush rose boutonnière, he looked like the perfect little gentleman.
"I'm looking like daddy, see?" said Max, and I grinned at him, knowing immediately what Julian would be wearing.
"Aren't you looking cute?" I said, giving him a hug. He beamed happily at me, proudly showing off his outfit.
Avery gave me a hug. "You're looking like a bombshell as always. Have a great life with the one and only Julian Impossible Henderson," she said making me chuckle.
"Thanks, you're looking no less. You should have brought Jake as well to take care of the babies. Where are they?" I asked her., looking behind her.
"Nora's with them. They're sleeping right now," said Avery. She looked a little tired with two kids to look after but still beautiful as always.
Arielle was my flower girl wearing the same type of dress as I was, but with a baby pink satin bow. She was looking so beautiful that everyone commented on her looks the moment she walked inside the room. She had an air fit for a princess and carried herself so gracefully that we all couldn't help but admire her.
"You're looking enchanting, Cassie," said Aunt Caroline, kissing my forehead. She slipped a beautiful rhodium-plated chain with a white dazzling crystal pendant around my neck. It was beautiful and perfectly matched the earrings gran gave me. "This is my gift, my blessing to you. Have a very happy wedded life. May God bless you with all that's best," she said hugging me. She was the closest thing to a mother I have in my life. Her presence on my special day meant a lot to me and I hugged her back, "Thank you, aunt Caroline, It's beautiful. I'm so happy that you could make it," I said while she wiped her tears.
"You know that I'll always be there for you. These are tears of joy. I'm so happy for you, Cassie," she said and I nodded.
"I know, Aunt Caroline," I said to her.
"So, are you ready? Your groom is really getting impatient," she said chuckling to lighten the atmosphere as I nodded with a slight blush on my cheeks. Aunt Caroline would walk me down the aisle since she was the only family I had.
Azura fixed my veil as Max stared at me wide-eyed, "You're pwetty, mommy," he said with wide eyes as if he had realized it for the first time. I clutched at my heart and smiled at my baby boy.
"Thank you, honey. Even you're looking very handsome," I told him as aunt Caroline, Avery and Azura led me downstairs.
Max's cheeks went pink at my comment and he held Claire's hand and followed us downstairs. Martha brought my posy bouquet along, helping me with my veil and carrying my snack packet dutifully along with her. Finally, we walked outside and my eyes searched for the one and only man, Julian Henderson, the man I love. Where was he?
