Chapter 131: Chapter 131
Amelia's POV
"I have an objection to Tristan. I was friends with him. I know he's using you to get to me. He wants to prove that he's the superior one. I will never let him win," he said while Brandon and I rolled our eyes.
"Please Cal, you're exaggerating. He genuinely loves me. The world doesn't revolve around you, hope you are aware of that?" I said, irritated with his attitude. "Anyway, don't waste your time, I will never marry Scott. If I don't marry Tristan then I remain unmarried throughout my life," I said pointedly.
Brandon dragged Caleb out, "Let's go, Cal, let her sleep in peace. See you later, Amy," he said as they left.
Caleb whined on and on as I smiled at Brandon's maturity and understanding of my condition. I was glad that Brandon accepted my relationship with Tristan. One down, two more to go. I was tired of ignoring my big brothers. They were overprotective, but after all, they were the only family I had. I decided to pay Leo a visit soon.
With that thought and a happy smile on my face, I went to sleep. Tomorrow being Friday, I thought of going to mom and dad's house for the weekend. I hated living here alone, cramped in a small space with only negative thoughts filling my brain. Visiting them would refresh my mind and help keep the negative feelings at bay. It would also allow me to forget about Caleb and Scott for a few days!
The next day after a usual hectic work schedule, I took a shower and packed a small trolley bag for 2 nights with clothes and necessities. Finally, locking up everything well, I drove to mom and dad's house with a relaxed mind.
After a two-hour drive, I finally reached my destination. Hauling my suitcase, I buzzed the doorbell. Martha opened the door and a huge smile lit up her face. She squealed excitedly, "Amy sweetie, so good to see you. Come in," she said as she took the trolley from my hands and ushered me inside.
I went to the family room, where Adrian lounged with a bowl of popcorn, watching some football match on TV, with dad. Adrian shouted happily, seeing me, "Amyyyyy, good to see you. Tris isn't here, so you have to tolerate us for a while," he beamed happily offering me his popcorn.
I sneaked a handful from him, making him grumble. Dad looked up at me and chuckled, getting up to give me a welcome hug. "Good to see you, Amy. Hope you're staying the weekend?" he asked hopefully.
"Yes, Dad, I'll stay till Sunday afternoon," I said as dad grinned happily, "Good indeed! Audi honey, look who's here," he shouted out for mom.
Mom came rushing out of the kitchen and smiled widely at me, "Oh sweetie, come and give me a hug. I'll have Tris's room arranged for you to stay. Is that fine?" She said, kissing my forehead.
"Yes mom, that's fine," I said happily. I knew that I would miss Tristan but with everyone around, I'll not miss him like a sore thumb at least. Mom instructed Martha to change the bedsheets and add fresh towels," she said. Then turning towards me, she added. "Why don't you go and freshen up? Dinner's ready, come down in 10 minutes." I nodded and left with Martha, pulling my suitcase along.
I had a very fitful sleep in Tristan's old room, thinking and dreaming about him. I saw all his trophies and medals from his school and college days, neatly arranged in a bookcase. There was a huge autographed poster of Bruce Lee pasted behind his door.
Two framed pictures of him adorned the walls, both were when Tristan was at high school. They brought back memories of the day when we confessed our love for each other and kissed for the first time. The day when our entire lives were torn apart. These disturbed me even more than I had thought they would and now I was again back to square one. My purpose of coming here wasn't fulfilled at all.
I woke up at 6 o'clock in the morning still feeling tired. After freshening up, I went down for coffee. No one was around and I sat with my coffee near the huge full-length sliding glass windows which opened the loft-like living spaces to the panoramic ocean views just outside. The breathtaking views of both the ocean and the bay calmed my mind. I checked my phone and sighed. There were no messages from Tristan. Does he hate me now? What changed suddenly? Was he okay? Was he sick? All negative thoughts started pouring in as I chewed my lips in apprehension. The coffee tasted bland on my palate and I just had no clue as to what exactly was going on. Maybe I would lose my head!
"What's worrying you so much, dear?" I turned my head swiftly to see gran and mom coming into the room. "You look very disturbed?" Gran asked, sitting beside me as Martha placed a cup of herbal tea for her. Mom sat opposite and sipped her green tea as well.
"Nothing much. Just that Tristan hasn't messaged me for the last five days," I answered dejectedly.
"Don't be upset, sweetie. I'm sure he has his reasons. He's so much in love with you, I'm sure he has a valid reason for not contacting you," gran said, as she squeezed my hand.
"Yeah, I had a word with him yesterday. He is fine health-wise if you're worried," said mom with a knowing smile as I blushed. I was worried about that angle as well. So he spoke to his mom while he didn't answer my messages. By now, I was convinced that he was avoiding me.
Mom seemed to notice my indecisiveness. "Don't worry, sweetheart, he'll come home to you soon. That boy can't stay away from you for long," she said, sipping her green tea. I nodded but still somewhere at the back of my mind, I was restless. I had no idea that a simple issue would flare up so much between us.
