Chapter 132: Chapter 132

Amelia's POV

They told me about Tristan's childhood antics, Stefan's ex-wife Claudia, how Stefan and Anna met, all about Arielle, and much more. I listened intently to all the gossip and my mood lightened. Later, I helped Martha with breakfast. She told me all about Tristan's favorite food and also how to make them. I was thrilled to learn so much from her. It seemed that I made the right decision to come here. We laid the table together and for a while, I forgot all about my bad mood, my worries, and my work and got involved in their conversations and their jokes.

After breakfast, dad and Adrian went fishing at a small tidal pool nearby where plenty of fish git stuck every day. Mom and I just strolled towards the beach, picking shells, walking aimlessly, joking, and laughing.

"I love this place so much that we don't feel like going back to the congested city mansion. Life's like a vacation here. You and Tristan can come and stay with us every now and then whenever you get time," said mom. I nodded.

"Yes, we'll come over, mom. I love this place too," I admitted honestly.

"You need to relax, Amy. Life's too short to waste away in misunderstandings. Try to patch it up when he returns. He can be very stubborn sometimes, I agree but sometimes it's okay to forgive. Don't you think so? I don't know why he isn't contacting you, but don't fret so much. I'm sure it would be some immature, silly reason. Nothing so serious and I'm sure he isn't at all angry with you," said mom. I smiled at mom's words. She was right and I decided to let it go and relax.

"Yeah, you're right," I sighed and smiled at her, thankful that she spoke to me.

"I think he'll come earlier than he said he would," said mom. I smiled with excitement.

"Oh, did he say so?" I couldn't help but ask, my heart doing a somersault with excitement.

"Yes, he was saying something like overworking to return earlier. That might also be the reason why he didn't respond to you. Maybe he's working too hard to return as fast as he can," said mom. I nodded in understanding as we strolled back home.

We came back, changed, showered, and prepared lunch together. Dad and Adrian brought in their catch and we cooked them. Later after lunch, I went back upstairs to Tristan's room for a nap. After literally no sleep for days, mom's words had calmed me enough to make me so sleepy that I just couldn't keep my eyes open. I might have slept for 3 hours and no one woke me up. It was 4 o'clock in the afternoon when I woke up with a start to a squeal coming from downstairs. Excitedly, I decided to go and check. I quickly checked my appearance and grimaced at my reflection. I looked like I'd been sleeping for ages! Tying my hair properly, I fixed my blue denim shorts and green top properly before wearing my flip-flops and going downstairs. My face broke into a grin seeing the scene before me.

Adrian and his best friend, Theo, who had come down for lunch, were running around the place with a stuffed toy puppy, tossing it to each other while Arielle chased them, trying to catch it. "Uncle Addy, it's mine. Wait till I tell granny," She shouted angrily.

"No Ari, it's mine now. Catch me first if you want it." Said Adrian wickedly. Arielle was about to catch him when he tossed it to Theo. Arielle pouted, tired already.

"That's not nice. You both have long legs. I can't catch you, ever. I'm only little," She pouted when she suddenly saw me. Her face broke into a hopeful smile, "Aunty Amy, help me. Uncle Addy and uncle Theo are being naughty. Can you rescue my Bruno from them?" she begged, "Pwetty pwease?" she said with puppy dog eyes,

"Alright honey, let's save Bruno," I said and Arielle cheered me on.

"Hey, that's not fair, you're two, and she was all alone. Two versus one doesn't happen," I told them. Adrian sat down tired while I ran around after Theo to get the toy from his grip as he still ran around the sofa.

"Oh yes, everything's fair," he said but I just wanted to divert his attention.

"Oh, no, mom!" I lied. Just as Theo turned towards the door I caught Bruno and pulled but he realized my bluff and held on more tightly. I finally wrenched it free and turned to run away but he caught me from behind and tried to snatch the toy away. We kept laughing more and more as the game got more exciting.

"What's going on?" A voice boomed and froze. "Adrian, tell your friend to keep his hands off my girl," Tristan growled. My heart started hammering loudly in my chest with dread. Was he that angry? I turned around to look at him. "Change into something decent Amelia and pack your things and come down now. We're leaving," He said, gritting his teeth with anger.

"Bro, it's not what..," Adrian started along with Theo but they were cut short with an angry grunt as Tristan just held up his palm to stop them. He glared at me and I hurried upstairs to do as asked. Arielle might have escaped out of fear of seeing Tristan's angry face.

I quickly changed into a pair of jeans and packed up everything, l went downstairs. My mind was puzzled, how did he come home so early? Then my mind filled up with dread. He had misunderstood everything and I would have a tough time explaining myself to him. Oh, God! Why did he have to come at that particular moment? As it is my life was a mess with him already angry with me and now this misunderstanding!

He was pacing in the reception room, with everyone watching him quietly when I reached them. I nodded at mom and dad while Tristan grabbed my trolley bag and my wrist and pulled me towards the door. I had no idea why everyone just quietly looked on and did not say a word to him in my favor. I looked at mom and she just gestured to me to deal with it sensibly. Adrian and Theo mouthed an apology to me knowing Tristan's anger. A tremor ran down my spine in apprehension. I had no idea what Tristan would do now.
