Chapter 111: Chapter 111
Amelia's POV
Anna and Audrey went to check my accessories catalog at the showroom with Cadence, while I trotted off to my office followed by Tristan. Just as the door closed, he rushed towards me and pulled me into his arms, flush against his chest. The warmth and the tingling smell of his cologne hit me and I felt lost in him, just like I always did whenever he was near me. It seemed as if he too was waiting to catch a moment with one another.
"What are you doing? Mom and Anna will come in any minute," I said eyeing the door with dread.
No, they won't. They know that I need my daily dose of kisses, to keep me sane," he said cheekily making my jaws drop with disbelief. Did he tell them about us already?
"If I wouldn't have been there, still you would want a daily dose?" I asked raising an eyebrow at him. I knew that I never felt the need without him in my life. Was it the same for him as well?
"I never felt the need before. It's only with you, baby doll. Only with you," he said touching his forehead to mine.
"I can't believe that. You must have had lots of girlfriends these past eight years?" I asked the one question which I always meant to ask.
"No, not even one." He said staring into my eyes with blunt honesty. "I didn't have any wish for a relationship. I had tried a one-night stand when coaxed a few times after a lot of drinking, but it didn't work out, so I've been celibate actually," he added.
I stared at him, dumbfounded. I didn't have an answer. I hadn't expected him to be celibate and waiting for me actually. I was touched by his confession. I knew that the same was true for me too.
"I also know that you too didn't have any boyfriend. You only had one friend, Brittany, and you worked at "Maybelle Fashion House" before graduating college," he said much to my surprise. My jaws dropped to the floor and I looked up at him with shock.
"How did you know so much about me?" I asked surprised.
He grinned, "I know much more," he said smugly, tightening his hold on me.
"But how?" I asked again. Did he stalk me? I thought he had forgotten me and given up on me. I was confused as ever. It was so creepy.
"I have my ways. So don't bother your pretty head, baby doll. Before they return, I wanted to ask you if you would like to be my date for tonight's dinner at mom and dad's house?" he asked tenderly caressing my cheek with the back of his hand.
"Yes, I would love to," I said shyly. I loved his family. They had such a positive vibe about them. With the constant fun and teasing, it was fun being with them. I missed that always since I had never experienced that sort of fun at home with my father and brothers always dominating, protecting, and advising me. I lived in constant fear of criticism and failing my family. Whatever I did was never enough for them and they were always disappointed in me.
He kissed my forehead, and released me, making me miss his warmth instantly. He held my hand and led me out of my office downstairs to the showroom where Anna and mom were flicking through the pages of my catalog.
"So, are you done?" Mom asked Tristan. I was surprised at the way mom gave him the privacy to ask me out. It was something I was new to since my family was just the opposite.
"Yes," he answered happily, making his mom smile at him.
"So, I take it that you are coming tonight, sweetie?" mom asked me. I nodded at her.
"Yes mom," I said smiling and a happy smile appeared on Tristan's face too.
"Great, see you then. Let's go, Tris, your dad is waiting for his lunch," she said as she ushered Anna out, followed by Tristan.
But he suddenly turned back to me and leaned in. "Be ready by 6 o'clock tonight," he said and l nodded. His face lightened up and he rushed out with a happy smile on his face. The whole day, I was busy with my work but my heart wanted to be with Tristan. In my mind, I selected different outfits which would transform me completely into some gorgeous creature! I wanted to take his breath away! Finally, the day ended and I could rush home to get ready for my date.
There was only half an hour to work my magic on me so I simply gave up. I took a quick shower and stood in front of my closet, lost and at my wit's end. I had never gone on a dinner date with my boyfriend's parents before! Heck! I never had a boyfriend ever! Going over my collection, I was at a loss. If only I had someone to guide me on the choice of dress. I might have studied fashion but now I really was at a loss.
Finally, I settled for a magenta mikado-styled satin dress with an A-line silhouette, boat neckline, and bow at the front waist. I quickly got ready. With only a few minutes left, I didn't have much choice but to brush and sweep up all my hair into a messy bun. A few tendrils escaped and I just left it at that. Next, I put on some diamond studs and a whiff of my signature perfume. All done! Taking out my makeup kit, I touched up lightly and then searched for my black pumps. It was almost time and I was ready! I stared at myself in the mirror, satisfied with my handiwork. Would Tristan approve of my look? I was a little nervous since I was visiting his family for the first time and I wanted to make a good impression as his girlfriend.
