Chapter 112: Chapter 112

Amelia's POV

I was brought out of my trance when Tristan clicked my front door open and came in. I rushed out of my room excitedly to meet him. My heart skipped a beat or two seeing him looking gorgeous as always in a white dress shirt and navy slacks with a matching navy blazer. He winked seeing me check him out. His signature citrus and woody smell tingled my senses as he came towards me and kissed my forehead, "Hey, gorgeous, ready to go?" He asked. My heart melted hearing him address me.

"Yeah," I said as he led me out of the apartment towards his blue Mercedes.

"Are we celebrating something tonight?" I asked him with curiosity. I hadn't bought any gifts and would be at a loss if there would be an occasion tonight.

"No, just a family gathering before the wedding," said Tristan.

"I forgot to get a token of appreciation for your parents for inviting me to dinner," I said, feeling a little embarrassed. Tristan smiled but didn't at all look perturbed.

"I already got a bottle of champagne and a bouquet for them. So relax. It's just dinner," he said with a smile. I grinned back with relief. It was so thoughtful of him to get something on my behalf.

"Am I not the best boyfriend on earth?" he asked with a wink. I nodded totally agreeing.

"Of course," I agreed and he looked extremely happy.

"Then I will be expecting something in return soon," he said and obviously I knew what he was hinting at.

"You'll get a kiss in return. Will that do?" I asked him boldly. His eyes lit up at my suggestion.

"Yes but only when I ask for it," said Tristan with a naughty grin on his face. I thought his words over in my mind and it surely seems fishy.

"Okay but not in front of everyone," I told him and he laughed.

"You've grown smarter in my company, Baby doll," he said with an amused look on his face. I grinned back.

"I was born smart in case you didn't know," I answered him tartly. He laughed heartily.

"Right, right!" he just said, bowing a little as he drove. "I'm sure you'll not be shocked with gran's interrogation in that case," he said, making my mouth hang open with horror. Questioning? What questioning? Am I going to be interviewed or what? I fidgeted with my fingers out of nervousness.

"What interrogation? I thought that I was going to just dinner," I reminded him.

"Wait and watch, my girlfriend. It's not always so simple, you know," he said, making me all the more nervous.

"Oh, then? What will she ask me? I'm now having second thoughts," I admitted nervously. Tristan laughed out loud.

"Caught you! I was just kidding, Baby doll. Just chill!" he said, making me glare back at him.

"That's mean," I pouted and looked out of the window, feeling like an idiot.

"C'mon Baby doll. I was just kidding. Okay, how about you play your favorite song on my music system?" he offered as a truce. I jumped at the offer and with a grin started my Bluetooth to play my favorite song on the car's music system. The rest of the way, we bickered over my choice of songs though.

We reached his parents' home in 2 hours, due to huge traffic congestion on the way. It was a huge picturesque mansion in coastal Southampton, right on the beach. The automatic secured main gates opened to let us pass through onto the wide gravel drive with the main three-story residence rising majestically from its front parking court. Overlooking the ocean, with a huge granite swimming pool and gorgeous hedged lawns, the house offered beautiful views of the beach and ocean.

A maid opened the door and ushered us into the gathering room at the second level, where the whole family was present except Anna, Stefan, and Adrian. The room opened to a huge deck from which one could watch the ceaseless waves and feel the fresh ocean breezes. Dark polished wooden floors, white interiors with detailed moldings, bead boards, French doors, transom windows, and coffered ceilings characterized the whole mansion. I had never seen such a majestic mansion before and was instantly in love with it. I could imagine Tristan and me spending a lifetime here with our kids running on the beach! I was soon brought out of my dreamland when his parents came forward to greet us.

"It's so nice to see you, sweetie. You're looking absolutely gorgeous," said mom as she hugged me. Tristan stood watching me with a goofy grin on his face.

"Thank you. Even if you're looking beautiful mom," I said sincerely.

"Thank you, dear. Meet Tristan's dad, Nathaniel Henderson," She said, drawing me forward. "Honey, this is Amelia McGrath, Tristan's girl. She designed our wedding trousseau," she introduced me to his father I blushed as I eyed Tristan, who couldn't wipe the grin off his face.

"Hello Mr. Henderson, glad to meet you," I said, holding my hand out for a shake.

"You can call me dad," he said as he grasped my hand in his, " Welcome to the family, Amy," he said with a warm smile on his face.
