Chapter 71: Chapter 71
Chapter 71 Dinner In The Garden
MAIA'S POV
"Maia, what you heard isn't what you think it is," Lucius said.
"Really? Tell me then. Enlighten me with an explanation," I spat.
"I was talking to a very old friend of mine whom I have not seen for a long time," he said.
I did not wait for him to finish explaining and cut him off right away.
"And you think that is enough reason to call her Love?" I asked. My voice was higher than before.
He dragged his chair closer to me and held my hand. I tried to pull it away, but he held it a little tighter.
"Maia, listen to me. Okay? You are my mate and the only person who I care about. You are the only woman that is in my heart. No one else. I promise you that. The person who I was talking to, my friend, her name is Love. So, when you heard me earlier call her by her name, you have mistaken it as an endearment. I will never call another person Love except you," he explained.
When the realization hit me, I was so fucking embarrassed. I thought he was just playing me and assumed right away without even thinking of confronting him.
I looked down at our hands and felt extremely embarrassed.
"I am sorry," I mumbled.
He lifted my chin up, so that I was looking at him, and he smiled at me.
"There is nothing you should worry about. If it was me, I would have murdered whoever you were talking to you without even asking for an explanation," he said.
I blushed at what he said and tried to hide my face.
"It is totally normal, but next time please tell me, okay? Don't just leave without telling me. Something bad could have happened to you, and I had no idea. Let's practice being more open to each other and communicate. Okay?" He added.
I simply nodded at him, scared that my voice would betray me.
'Maia, he said to practice being more open. Open your damn dress!' Avi exclaimed.
'Avice! You are so embarrassing! Shut up, will you?!' I exclaimed, blocking her from the mind link right away.
"What's making you blush?" Lucius asked, pulling me out of my conversation with Avi.
I quickly shook my head and replied, "Nothing."
"So, can I take you out for dinner under the stars?" He asked.
I smiled at him and nodded.
"I would love that," I said.
"Okay. Let's go then," he replied.
"Uhm. Can I take a quick shower first? I just came from the dungeons and reek of all the nasty smell from there and from someone whose name should not be mentioned," I said.
"Of course. I will come back in half an hour to pick you up," he replied.
"Okay," I mumbled.
I immediately went to the bathroom and took a quick shower, scrubbing that bitch's scent from my body.
15 minutes later, I came out wearing nothing but my robe. I went straight to my closet and picked out a dress. With 10 minutes left, I quickly changed into my dress and dried my hair.
As soon as I finished fixing my hair, I heard a knock on my door. I hurriedly went to the door and opened it.
"Wow! You look ravishing," Lucius said.
I blushed at his compliment and thanked him.
He led us to the garden where he had an exquisite candle lit dinner prepared.
"How did you manage to have the Omegas prepared for all of this in half an hour?" I asked.
"It amazes me how you said Omegas instead of me," he said, chuckling.
"Oh well, you can't possibly do this on your own," I replied.
He simply shook his head and laughed.
"I hope you'll enjoy our simple dinner. It was sudden, and they were not prepared," he said, removing the cover from our plates.
"You call this unprepared? If we are having steak for dinner because you were unprepared, I wonder what we will have when you are prepared?" I asked, chuckling.
We started eating and talked about random things.
After our main course, we ate a red velvet cake for dessert. To say that I was excited would be an understatement; I was stoked.
"Where did you get this?" I asked, amazed that there was a whole red velvet cake in front of me.
"One of them baked it this morning. Why?" he replied, asking.
"I hope they made more because I ain't sharing this." I said, pulling the whole platter of cake towards my side of the table.
He looked at me with his face filled with amusement and shock.
"I don't get to taste it? Not even one tiny slice?" He asked.
"Nope," popping the P at the end as I shook my head.
I started eating the cake and I let out a moan as the delicious taste hit my soul.
"Just so you know. If you keep moaning like that, we might end up naked in bed," he said.
I almost choked up on the cake and glared at him. He simply laughed at me, finding it all amusing.
After half an hour of savoring the cake all by myself with him just intently watching me, I decided to give him the last slice.
"No. I am totally fine. You can have it. I enjoy watching you eat," he said.
"No. Eat it, because the next time there is going to be a red velvet cake, I am not giving you a single slice. Not even the crumbs," I replied.
He let out a hearty laugh and took a bite from the cake.
After walking around the garden for a bit, we went back inside the castle. He dropped me off in my room and gave me a long goodnight kiss on the lips before heading to his room.
No matter how much my body wanted to do much more than kiss him and sleep next to him that night, I did not. We both agreed to take things slow until I am ready and the Pamela issue has been taken care of.
I slept that night with a big smile on my face and with hopes of a better future for the both of us.
