Chapter 67: Chapter 67

Chapter 67 AVI!

MAIA'S POV

I did not know how long I was sleeping, but when I woke up, I realized that there was this heavy weight on me. I didn't have to look where that heavy weight was coming from because the scent and the tingling effects I was feeling were more than enough clues for me.

'Mate!' Avi screamed happily.

'Calm down, girl. Will you? You are practically ransacking my brain right now,' I said, laughing.

'Sorry. I just got carried away with the fact that our mate is sleeping next to us,' she replied, apologizing.

There was a moment of silence between us until I knew I needed to ask her about what happened.

'Avi?' I called out.

'Yeah?' She replied.

'What happened in the dungeon?' I asked.

I was hesitating to ask because the last time I remembered was us fighting over dominance. She wanted to snap his neck for threatening us, but I kept telling her to calm down.

'What should have happened in the first place,' she scoffed.

'And that is?' I asked, nervous about her answer.

'Putting him in his place,' she said.

'Avi, stop beating around the bush and get on with it!' I exclaimed.

'I carved your name across his chest and sent him to Uriah as a gift,' she replied.

'You what?!' I exclaimed.

'What?! He deserves so much more, you know,' she replied.

'Avi! Did we not already talk about your barbaric actions? You are going to get us killed one of these days, you know that, right?' I snapped.

'I was protecting us, Maia. That mutt is looking down on us as if we were some helpless, little she-wolf. You, out of all people, know that I hate it when that happens! I will not sit here, and watch people belittle you - us. We are one and we will fight as one. I will fight for you when you can't fight for yourself. That is how it works!' She exclaimed.

I simply let out a sigh, knowing that she did it out of good intention. Ever since my parents died, it had always been Avi and I. She helped me survive the evil world and I owed it all to her. It was just sometimes, things get too out of hand that it was too much for me and I couldn't handle it. One of those ties was this- her being barbaric.

'I'm sorry, Avi. You know I don't like when we turn into a barbaric kind of she-wolf, right? I know you are doing it for our best interest, but can we tone it down a little next time? Perhaps, let's talk about it before we roll out a plan, okay? For our own safety,' I explained.

'Okay, Maia. I am sorry, too. You know I care for you and remember that I promised to take care of you? It's us against the world. Forever,' she replied.

'No, Avi. It's no longer us against the world. We now have Lucius - our mate. It's going to be the three of us against the world,' I said.

'I'm sorry, Maia, I got carried away. I promise to work on it,' she replied.

'I understand, Avi. I'm just trying not to get the both of us killed. I love you, Avi. Don't forget that,' I said.

'I love you too, Maia. You are the best human a wolf could get. I am blessed that the Moon Goddess paired me with you,' she replied.

'Okay. Enough with all this. Let's get out of bed so we can start making your favorite breakfast – omelette,' I said, changing the subject.

'Yay! It's about time, human! I am famished!' She replied, howling, and jumping around in my head.

After putting Avi at the back of my head so that I could focus on the task at hand, I tried getting out of bed. When I couldn't move, that was when I remembered Lucius was beside me. Having his arms over my body was like having a log on top of me. I made a mental note to start working out.

"Lucius, wake up." I said, slightly shaking his arm.

"Five more minutes," he murmured.

"Lucius." I tried waking him up again.

"Hhhmmmm..." he sleepily said.

"Lucius, I don't have five more minutes. I need to pee," I whined, hoping it would wake him up.

I waited for a couple of more seconds before shaking his arm again.

"Lucius, if you don't move your arm now, I will pee on this bed," I said stronger than before.

A couple of seconds later, Lucius sat upright and looked at me.

"Maia! Oh my goodness! Maia, you are awake!" He exclaimed, engulfing me in a hug.

"Lucius, I really need to pee. I can't hold it anymore," I said, tapping his shoulders.

"Oh! Oh! Oh! I'm sorry," he said, apologizing.

He immediately got off me. He pulled the covers away and snaked his arms underneath me.

"Lucius! What are you doing?" I exclaimed.

"Taking you to the bathroom," He simply said.

I couldn't argue anymore since I really needed to pee. As soon as he put me down, I looked at him as he stood by the door, watching me.

"A little privacy, perhaps?" I asked, well more of like implied.

He closed the door and stood by the sink. I looked at him with a questioning look. It took him a couple of seconds to realize that he was still inside the bathroom.

"Oh! Sorry. I will be out," he apologized, nodding his head.

As soon as he was gone, I pulled down my pajamas and did my business. Once I was done, I quickly did my morning routine before heading out of the bathroom.

The moment I opened the door, he immediately engulfed me in a hug.

"Good morning to you, too," I said, chuckling at his sudden reaction.

"You scared me, Maia. I thought something bad happened. I am never taking you to the dungeons again. Let alone talk to any rogues," he said, burying his face into my neck.

"Relax, I am fine. It was just Avi being all protective of me," I replied, trying to calm him down.

"Do you have any idea how long you have been unconscious? I thought you were in a coma again. I will not lose you again. No!" He exclaimed.

I could see the pain in his eyes as he fought the inevitable.

I lifted my hands up to his face and stared him in the eyes.

"You will not lose me, Lucius. I am here to stay. I promise," I reassured him.
