Chapter 65: Chapter 65
Chapter 65 A Surprise Visitor
LUCIUS' POV
I watched Maia as she threatened the rogue and it made me feel proud and worried at the same time. The moment she took the silver knife, my worries went over my head.
'Shit! What is she doing?' I asked Neal through the mind link, panicking.
'I think she is sending Uriah a message,' Neal replied.
I tried to stop her, but Neal stopped me.
'Let her. She has to let her pain out,' Neal said.
'Are you stupid?' I spat.
"Maia! Maia, look at me!" I exclaimed, calling her attention.
She acted as if she did not hear me call her. The rogue's screams filled the dungeon, and he kept begging her, but it was as if she had never heard a single word.
"Send my greetings to Uriah," she said before cutting him loose.
The rogue ran right away as if his life depended on the carving on his chest.
I kept calling Maia's name until she slowly turned around and faced me. Her eyes were dark red, and it was something I had never seen before.
"Maia! Maia!" I kept yelling her name as I ran to her. I caught her as she fell to the ground, unconscious.
"Neal, call the pack doctor. NOW!" I growled, as I carried Maia out of the dungeon.
Letting Maia go to the dungeon was a mistake. I knew it was, but I still let it happen. What if that rogue had a secret potion or something that caught Maia? I swear I will tear that rogue limb by limb when I catch him.
As soon as the pack doctor arrived, I bombarded her with tons of questions.
"What happened to her? What is wrong with her? Why were her eyes dark red?"
"Lucius, calm down. The doctor cannot do her job if you are breathing down her neck. Let her do her job first before you ask her questions. I am sure Maia is going to be fine. She's a strong woman," Neal said.
I wanted to strangle someone at that moment, and it took every single ounce in my body to force myself to just sit down and watch as the doctor checked on Maia.
After a couple of minutes later, she was finally done.
"So?" I asked.
"She seems to be fine, King Alpha. Her heart rate is normal and everything else is good. Whatever power she used earlier drained her body, and that is why she fainted," she explained.
"What do you mean?" I asked, walking over to Maia, and sitting next to her.
I held her icy hand as I stared at her face.
"Her vitals are okay. Whatever happened earlier has got something to do with her fainting. If you could tell me all the details, I could try to narrow it down, so I know what I am looking for," she requested.
Neal told her what happened in the dungeon while I stared at my mate, hoping she would open her eyes any second.
"My initial deduction would be that her wolf took over after being threatened. That would explain her sudden barbaric action. As for her fainting, her body could not sustain the energy that her wolf was radiating in order for it to surface against her will," She explained.
I sighed and kissed Maia's icy hands.
"When will she wake up?" I asked.
"It depends on how depleted her energy is. It can take from one day to a week," she replied.

Maia had been unconscious for three days. As much as I wanted to stay in the room with her and wait for her to wake up, I had to perform my duties as the King Alpha.
Whenever I had to be in the office, I would leave Emily in my room to watch over Maia. Out of all the people that I trust, she is one of them.
I finished my meeting with one of our allies and they were requesting to have their warriors trained by our warriors. I couldn't really wait for it to end, because Lucian had been itching to go back to the room and just be with her.
"Okay, Alpha Trevore. I will send my men over to your pack in the next couple of days. Talk to you soon," I said to the Alpha.
Once the call was over, I gave out instructions to the head of my battalion to pick out four warriors to bring with him to Alpha Trevore's pack.
Luckily, I was done with all the meetings for the day. So, I focused on the remaining paperwork on my table.
'Emily, how is she?' I asked through the mind link before continuing with my work again.
'There have been no changes, King Alpha,' she replied.
'Okay. I am just finishing up some work and I will be there,' I said.
'Okay, King Alpha,' she replied.
I went back to my work and focused on finishing them quickly.
Half an hour later, Neal came to my office with more request papers from the pack.
"These are the last of all the request papers from last week. The elders want to have a meeting with you sometime next week about the plans for the pack," Neal said, informing me of my schedule.
"Okay, set the meeting with the elders on Tuesday. On Monday, we will visit the pack house and meet with them about their concerns," I replied.
"Okay, King Alpha. Anything else?" he asked.
"Have they found the rogue yet?" I asked, looking up from the paper that I was reading.
"No, King Alpha. The trackers have a reason to believe that either the rogue died somewhere in the no-man's-land, or he was able to get back to their base," he explained.
"Okay," I simply replied.
I sat back in my swivel chair and was lost in my thoughts for a second.
'I really do hope that the rogue could make it to where they were hiding. Let's see if he will receive the message as bright as the sun,' I thought to myself.
"King Alpha?" a voice took me out of my trance.
"Hhmm?" I asked.
"Someone's at the door requesting your presence." The guard announced.
"Who?" I asked.
"It's..."
