Chapter 64: Chapter 64

Chapter 64 Dungeon

MAIA'S POV

Having to sit down and wait is the worst part of all. It didn't help that I wasn't part of the pack yet because there's no way for me to ask for an update on what the hell was happening outside.

Before Lucius left, he ordered me not to open the curtains or the window. With no other choice, I sat on the edge of the bed while hugging one of his pillows. His scent helped calm me down, but anxiety was still eating me up inside.

After almost 2 hours of waiting, I heard a knock on the door followed by Lucius' voice. I practically ran to the door and fiddled with the locks until I got them open.

As soon as I saw Lucius, I jumped into his arms without caring who was around or what he looked like.

"Hey, I'm okay. It's okay," Lucius reassured me.

When I realized what I had done, I quickly removed my hands, but Lucius stopped me. His arms were wrapped around my waist, and he was hugging me tighter than I had been hugging him. It wasn't too tight that it was suffocating me, but it was tight enough to make me feel all the emotions he was feeling at that moment - the fear and the worry.

He buried his face in my neck as he inhaled my scent, hoping to calm him and his wolf down. I didn't know how long we stood there by the door before he let me go. Once he did, I asked him what happened.

"One guard saw a rogue from the north side. Luckily, Neal found him before he even managed to escape the pack grounds. We have enough reasons to believe that he is a spy sent by Uriah, but he is not speaking," he explained.

I looked at him and his face looked like there was something more than what he was telling me.

"What is it?" I asked.

He let out a sigh and ran his fingers through his hair. He lets out a growl as he says, "He said that he will only talk to you, and I will never let him get close to you."

"Lucius, I know you are worried, but if this is our only chance for him to speak, then so be it. Besides, I won't be alone. You, Neal, and a bunch of other guards are going to be there. I am going to be in the safest place I could be in compared to being left alone here in your room," I explained.

The mere thought of facing one of Uriah's goons was already driving me insane, let alone facing them for real. I was attempting to look like I was brave, but all I really wanted to do was lock myself up in his room. For the sake of my people, I am willing to take the risk, and the risk was what I took.

After almost an hour of convincing him, he had finally agreed. He had agreed under one condition - I stayed behind the door right next to him. When he said right next to him, he meant his arms wrapped around me.

Walking down the dungeon was the easiest part of it all, all I had to do was hold my breath to not smell the stinky mixture of sweat, blood, and all the other nasty stuff. Seeing all the people behind the silver bars, begging and bleeding, brought pain to my heart.

When Lucius stopped at the front of a door, I took a deep breath, which I instantly regretted before looking at him.

"Are you ready? We can still go back. Just say the word," he said, asking if I was having second doubts.

Hell, I was having a fifth doubt, but I had to stay strong. Whatever this rogue had to say must be very important.

"Speak up, mutt," Lucius spat, banging on the door.

They opened the small window on the door that showed him hanging from the wall. I could see his face beaten up like a pulp and bleeding all over. I wanted to have pity, but then I remembered what they did to me.

"You said you would only talk to me. Well, you have my attention now. Speak before I change my mind," I said, trying to sound as cold as possible.

"He is coming. He is coming for you," he said, looking at me with a smirk on his face.

Lucius growled behind me as he tightened his hold on me.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

"He is coming to fulfill his plan. Your days are counted, Maia," he replied.

Lucius was ready to rip his head off, but I stopped him. Thanks to my fast reflex, I could stop him before he got to the door.

I looked at him and shook my head. He was seething with anger from the rogue threatening me.

"You are aware that you just threatened me, right? You should know that I don't like it when I get threatened," I said, as I strolled towards the door and signaled the guards to open the door.

He was hesitant at first, but I gave him a murderous look that made him open it right away.

Lucius was trying to stop me as well as Neal, but I simply glared at them, daring them to stop me.

I saw the silver knife in the corner of the room and took it. There was a bucket with what looks like liquid silver and wolfsbane mixture. I dipped the silver knife in the liquid mixture and walked in front of the nasty rogue.

"You are going to tell me everything I need to know before I carve my name across your chest." I seethed, pointing the knife at his chest.

He shivered in fear and begged, "Please, I know nothing. That is all he said. Nothing else!"

"Do you have any idea how pathetic you look, begging? Weren't you so cocky earlier?" I asked, my voice filled with venom.

He was trying to move as far away from me as possible but being chained to the wall restricted his movements.

"If I were you, I would start talking now because the moment the tip of this knife touches your body, it is going to be gruesome," I warned, creeping the knife closer to his chest.

"No! No! No! Please!" He screamed.

I carved my name on his chest and made sure that it was deep enough to take a long time to heal.

The moment I started carving on his chest, it was as if something was moving my body. All I could see was red.

I could hear Lucius' faint voice calling my name, but my body acted on its own until my name was written across his chest.

"Send my greetings to Uriah," I said, before letting the rogue go.

As soon as I turned around, I saw Lucius frantically screaming something at me, but his voice was clouded. The last thing I saw was his worried face before darkness took over me.
