Chapter 63 The calm before the storm

MAIA'S POV

A few minutes later, Lucius and Neal arrived, looking all handsome. Lucius had recently shaved his beard and looked younger and more handsome than before.

"Shall we go?" Lucius asked, pulling me out of my trance.

I smiled at him and followed them outside.

No matter how much I insisted on riding the carriage with the Omegas, he still insisted on taking his car because it would be faster and much safer for everyone. I just shook my head as I entered the car.

Lucius and Neal were talking about pack works on the way while Lucius was caressing my hand. The sparks and the tingles that shot through my body were driving Avi horny.

'Stop it, Avi. Neal is with us. Don't embarrass us in front of others,' I said, warning her.

'Ugh! He looks so hot. Look at him. I don't even know how you can contain yourself right now,' she replied.

'You know, distracting yourself helps,' I said.

After minutes of torture, we finally arrived at the pack house.

To say that it surprised the people would be an understatement. It shocked them to see their King Alpha. What surprised me more was that the kids ran to me and engulfed my legs in a hug.

"Queen Luna, we have missed you so much. We have been waiting for your visit for so long. We thought you had forgotten us." One child said.

I crouched down, and we were at eye level.

"Why would you think that? I will never forget all of you. I was just caught in a lot of stuff. That is why I could not visit. Don't worry, I promise to visit more. Okay?" I replied.

"Yay!" They all cheered.

I smiled at them as they all jumped in joy.

From the corner of my eye, I saw Lucius walk closer and stood behind me.

"Hello, King Alpha." The little girl in front of me said, greeting Lucius.

"Hello, little one. What is your name?" He asked, crouching down.

"My name is Bella." She replied in her cute little voice.

"How old are you, Bella?" Lucius asked.

"I am 5 years old." She replied.

"Wow! You are quite a big girl already." Lucius said.

Bella twirled with a huge smile on her face.

"King Alpha. Queen Luna." One of the pack elders greeted me.

"How is everyone?" Lucius asked, standing up properly.

"We are doing good, King Alpha. The people have missed you, Queen Luna." He said.

"I see you are already quite famous, yet I have not properly introduced you to everyone." Lucius said, looking at me.

I slightly bowed my head to hide the blush on my face.

"The people fell in love with Queen Luna right away, King Alpha. It is easy to see why." He said, gesturing at the trays of food the Omegas were carrying inside the pack house.

"I know. I might have to fight for her attention then, especially with the little kids." Lucius said, laughing.

After a few minutes, the head Omega approached me and informed me they had already brought all the food inside.

"Let's head inside, then. My Queen has prepared a feast for everyone." Lucius said, placing his hand on my lower back.

We all headed inside the pack house and sat in our respective places. After everyone had arrived, we all started eating.

Everyone was enjoying the food, especially the little ones.??

I looked around and saw how everyone was happily eating. I smiled at the thought that we were all together as one big, happy family.

Lucius must have noticed me looking around. He placed his hand on top of mine, which made me look at him. He was looking at with so much adoration that his eyes were twinkling.

His eyes changed color and his face suddenly changed, which looked like he was talking to someone through the mind link. I heard a low growl escape from his throat, which made me worried.

I looked at him as I waited for him to tell me what was going on. After a few seconds, he looked around before looking at me.

"We have to go now." He whispered in my ears.

I looked at him and asked, "Why?"

He mouthed 'later' before getting up.

I tried to get any information from Neal, but he just stood up from his seat and gave me a curt nod.

Something was going on and it was making me worried, not knowing what it was.

Lucius excused us and said that there was a meeting that we had to attend. The kids were sad seeing us leave so early. I had to promise them I would come back again and play with them all day just to make them smile.

The car doors were already opened by the time we arrived outside. Lucius stood by the door as he watched me enter the back seat before he followed. As soon as Lucius was already inside, we left right away.

"Wait! Neal is still there. What is going on, Lucius?" I asked, looking back just in time to see Neal stripping off his clothes and shifting into his wolf form.

"There were sightings of a rogue nearby. I will not take any risk so I need you to do as I say. I have a feeling that this is Uriah's doing, and I will not let him get anywhere near you." He said.

I nodded my head as I calmed myself down.

"Hey. I won't let anything happen to you. I promise you that." He said, holding both of my hands.

"It is not me who I am worried about. It is you who he is after." I replied, my voice barely above a whisper.

"As long as you are safe, he won't be able to hurt me. I will be fine. Come here." He said, pulling me into a hug.

His arms around me and his scent helped calm my nerves.

As soon as we arrived at the castle, the guards opened the doors and we hurried inside.

"Have you checked her room already?" Lucius asked one guard as they closed the door.

"Yes, King Alpha." One guard replied.

We were just about to head to the elevator when we saw the devil herself.

"There you are. I wonder what lies she has told you about." Pamela said as soon as she saw us.

"Not now, Pamela. Go back to your room and stay there." Lucius replied.

"Ugh! Really, Lucius? You hide from me for months and then the moment this bitch arrives, you suddenly forget me?" Pamela exclaimed.

"I said NOT NOW PAMELA!" Lucius growled, making Pamela flinch.

I followed behind Lucius as we headed towards his room. He checked his room first and made sure that all they locked the windows before letting me enter.

"Stay here while I check on the rogue. I will be right back. Lock the doors and do not open it unless it's me who is on the other side of that door. Do you understand?" He asked.

I nodded my head as I processed everything that was happening. He kissed me on the head before leaving the room.

I sat on the bed as worry ate me up.
