Chapter 60 Intruder

LUCIUS' POV

The moment I heard the door open, my eyes darted towards it. Even though I was already back in my human form, there were still some abilities that were not yet back. My ability to smell, to be exact. I normally suffer loss of smell for a day. Well, that was before I was stuck in that hideous form.

"It's great to have you back, King Alpha! Since when did you get back into your human self?" My annoying Beta asked.

"Why are you here so early? Don't you have a job to take care of?" I asked, clearly annoyed at him for ruining my pleasant time with Maia.

"Oh! You mean the job that I was covering for you? Besides, it is almost lunchtime." He replied.

I growled at him, and he immediately raised his hands up while chuckling.

"Easy, tiger." He said.

I glared at him and mentally killed him.

'What the hell are you doing here?' I asked him again through the mind link.

'I am here to check up on you. People are looking for you already, and I wanted to see how you were doing. It's not like I asked these guards to keep tabs on you,' he replied.

I scoffed before blocking him from the link.

"Have you had your breakfast already, Neal?" Maia asked.

"Yes, Queen Luna." Neal replied.

"Stop calling me that! Just call me Maia. I already told you." She said.

"'Apologies, but I want to keep my head where it is." Neal replied, laughing.

I glared at him before focusing my attention on the pancakes in front of me.

I slowly reached my hand to the plate and snitched a pancake before she swatted my hand again.

"Hey! Enough Lucius. You already ate all the pancakes!" Maia exclaimed, glaring at me.

"Sorry." I apologized, smiling sheepishly.

I could hear Neal chuckling behind me and I threw him a glare before giving Maia a puppy face.

"Is the doctor coming over, Neal?" Maia asked.

"Yes, Queen Luna. I already contacted her. She should be here any minute," he replied.

"Okay. Let's have some breakfast first before the doctor arrives." Maia said, placing the plate of pancakes and bacon on the table.

Before I could even say anything, Neal was already in his seat. I looked at him with my brows furrowed.

"What? Queen Luna told me to eat. I don't want to be on her bad side." He simply said.

I just shook my head and sat next to Maia, sweetly smiling at her.

We ate breakfast while talking about random stuff. By the time the doctor arrived, we had already finished eating.

"Leave those dishes. Let Omega clean them. Come here." I told Maia when she was about to pick up the plates.

"It's okay, Lucius. I can do them. There are only a few of them. Go on and let the doctor check on you. I will be right there." She replied.

I grabbed her hand and pulled her with me inside the room. I patted the space beside me and told her to sit on the bed.

"Lucius, nothing is going to happen to me. I am just going to wash the dishes. Guards are protecting the entire cabin. Seriously." She argued.

"No. That is final. You will stay here during my checkup." I said.

"How can the doctor do her job properly if I am on her way?" She asked, her voice slightly annoyed.

"She can find a way. It's not my problem, nor it is yours." I simply replied.

The doctor entered the room and greeted both of us. She placed her doctor's bag on the chair in front of me and started with her tests. I held Maia's hand the whole time.

"King Alpha, your health is back to normal. Whatever Queen Luna did, it worked amazingly. I will run some tests on your blood again just to make sure that I missed nothing important." the doctor said.

I looked at my mate beside me and smiled at her, kissing her knuckles.

"There is nothing she can't do. She is my miracle and I owe her my life." I said, staring into her eyes.

Once the doctor left, Neal asked when I was going back to the castle.

I looked at Maia and said, "We will go back by the end of the week. I would like to spend more time alone with my mate before diving back into my work."

She hid her face with her hair, but I knew her face was red as a tomato.

Once Neal had already left, I lifted her chin, so that she was looking at me.

"I love it when you blush, but don't hide them from me." I said calmly.

I kissed her on the forehead and pulled her in a hug. Being that close to her and her knowing my curse made me a lot more relieved. She already knew my secret, and she was still there. I was clearly wrong about my fears.

She stayed beside me, no matter what. Even when I was suffering during the full moon, she was there to calm me down. It actually surprised me that I was so calm during the full moon. It did not even scare her to approach me, and the moment she touched my hideous, demonic face, I felt the devil inside me calm down.

The way she hugged me until I fell asleep made my heart cry with happiness. The Moon Goddess had gifted me an angelic mate that I did not deserve.

'When are you going to announce her as the Queen Luna to the pack? The pack needs her just as much as we do,' Lucian asked, pulling me out of my trance.

I let out a sigh and looked at my beautiful mate with a smile on my face.

'Soon. I will let the world know that she is mine,' I replied.

"Shall we go out on a run?" I asked Maia.

Her eyes immediately lit up with excitement as she nodded her head.

I smiled at her as I lightly pulled her up on her feet and headed outside the cabin.
