Chapter 59: Chapter 59
Chapter 59 Pancakes
MAIA'S POV
"Grrrr! Grrrr!"
I opened my eyes and saw Lucius turning and tossing in bed while grunting.
I stood up from my bed and immediately went to Lucius' bed.
"Lucius! Lucius! Wake up!" I exclaimed, shaking him.
After a couple of seconds, he shot his eyes open sitting up on the bed.
"Are you okay?" I asked, my face masked with worry.
He looked at me with his eyes filled with fear and sadness. I could not help myself, but to pull him into a hug as I rubbed his back, hoping to calm him down.
"It's okay. It's just a nightmare." I said.
He kept sobbing until I felt him sniff my neck as he slowly calmed down.
We stayed like that for almost half an hour until he stopped sobbing. I looked out the window and saw that the sun was about to rise.
"Would you like to go out and watch the sunrise?" I asked, my voice barely above a whisper.
Lucius slowly lifted his head and slightly nodded his head. I gave him a smile as I helped him stand up. We walked towards the deck and sat at the end.
Minutes passed, and we sat in complete silence. It was a serene silence.
Once the sun had already risen, we went back inside. Since I could no longer go back to sleep, I started preparing for breakfast.
I noticed Lucius was not himself the whole day. As much as I wanted to talk to him about his dream, talking with the help of a board would not have been really great.
I spent the next couple of weeks talking to Lucius, swimming in the lake, watching the sunset, watching the sunrise, and running through the forest.
When Lucius had nightmares, we would go outside on the deck and watch the sunrise until he calmed down.
After almost a month of "helping him get back to his original self," I had finally succeeded. I almost had a heart attack when he surprised me that morning.
He laid next to me in my bed and cuddled with me while I was asleep. I thought I was just dreaming when I felt the sparks. Only when I turned around and opened my eyes, I came face to face with the Greek god mate of mine. Thankfully, I did not scream. It would have been so embarrassing.
"Good morning, my Queen." He said.
I blinked my eyes multiple times, making sure that I was not dreaming or anything.
The way he smiled at me made my heart melt.
"Morning." I whispered, slightly hiding my face in the curtain of my hair.
He moved the strands of my hair and cupped my face.
"It's so good to talk to you without using the whiteboard." He said as he caressed my face.
It only dawned on me he actually spoke to me. My head was not functioning yet, so it did not sink into my brain right away.
"You are! Oh, my gosh! You are back to yourself already!" I exclaimed, springing up in a sitting position.
"Someone's happy," he said.
"Are you kidding me? I am more than happy! I am thrilled to see you all better. And yes! It is amazing to get to talk to you without having to read the whiteboard." I replied excitedly.
"I am glad to see you happy." He said with a smile on his face.
I swore I saw his eyes twinkle.
"I am happy to see you better." I said, my voice almost a whisper.
"Come on! Didn't you promise to make pancakes today? I am famished." He said, getting up from the bed.
It took me a second to process it before I got up from the bed and followed behind him.
I rushed to the toilet when I realized I had not washed my face yet or done any of my morning routines. Within 5 minutes, I was in and out of the bathroom, looking fresh and presentable.
When I arrived at the kitchen, I saw all the flour, eggs, butter, sugar, bowls and pans out on the table.
"There you are! I thought you were going to bail on me." He said, chuckling.
"Sorry. I was in the bathroom. You have taken all the ingredients." I replied.
"No problem. Shall we start?" He asked.
"Why don't you just sit while I prepare it? You just got better. We should call the pack doctor to check up on you. I am sure it would shock Neal to see you all better." I replied.
"I am fine. Me, out of all people, would know if I am not fine. Besides, I want to spend this time with you. Alone. I had to spend a month being unable to talk to you freely and now I want to do that." He said.
My heart did somersaults at what he said.
'Bitch, what are you waiting for? Kiss him already, you slowpoke!' Avi exclaimed in my head as she tried to take over me.
'STOP IT, AVI! Are you just always horny?' I asked, scolding her a bit.
"Are you okay?" Lucius asked, interrupting me from my conversation with Avi.
"Uhm. Yeah. Sorry. I spaced out a bit." I lied.
"I'll mix. You pour the ingredients." He said, taking the whisk.
I nodded my head and took the eggs and cracked them in the bowl. While he was whisking the eggs, I grabbed the milk and poured it as well. Once all the wet ingredients were mixed, I proceeded to the dry ones.
Once the batter was ready, I preheated the pan before cooking. Lucius placed all the ingredients back in the cupboard while I was cleaning the countertop.
Cooking pancakes took way longer than I intended to because a giant wolf kept eating them every time I put it on the plate.
"Lucius! Stop eating the pancakes! I will never finish. The batter is over, yet the plate is empty." I exclaimed, swatting his hands away from the plate.
"What can I do? I am famished, and they are delicious." He replied with his mouth full of pancakes.
"Manners, young man!" I replied.
I was trying to swat his hands away while he was trying to steal pancakes when the cabin door opened.
