Chapter 54: Chapter 54

Chapter 54 Your plan?

PAMELA'S POV

Chills ran down my spine. I knew that voice very well, and it had been almost a year since I last heard it.

"What are you doing here?" I asked without looking up.

"Why? Am I suddenly forbidden to be here?" He asked.

I slowly looked up and blankly at him.

"You haven't been here for a long time. Why now?" I asked.

"Come on, Ella. After not seeing me for almost a year, this is how you welcome me?" He asked, calling me by the nickname he gave years ago.

"What do you want, Uriah?" I asked, crossing my arms across my chest.

"Why are you being so cold to me? What did I do wrong?" He asked, taking my cup of cold drink and taking a sip.

"Stop fooling around. We both know you are here for a reason, so cut the crap and tell me what it is." I snapped.

He lightly chuckled as he leaned on the chair.

"You have never changed, Ella. Still the same hot-headed one." He said.

I rolled my eyes at his comment and looked out the window.

"If you will not talk, then just leave me the hell alone." I hissed.

"Ouch! Is it that time of the month? Or are you and my brother having some love quarrel?" He asked.

I kept my mouth shut and ignored him, hoping that he would leave me alone if I stayed quiet.

"A little bird told me that my dear brother has found his mate. How is that treating you? Must be hard having a competition, huh?" He said.

My ear twitched when he mentioned Lucius finding his mate.

'How the hell does he know he has found his mate? Wait, mate? So, that girl is really his mate? How does he know all of this when Lucius has never announced her presence to the pack?' I asked myself.

I looked at him suspiciously without answering his question.

"Am I rubbing salt on an open wound?" He asked.

"Why do you care, Uriah? You never cared about a single soul except yourself. Why bother asking me?" I replied with a question.

"You know, if you really want to be Queen Luna, I have the perfect solution to that." He whispered just enough for me to hear.

I gazed at him and searched his eyes.

"What is the catch?" I asked.

Whenever Uriah proposed something, there was always an exchange for it. I was not dumb enough to fall for his trap to use me as his pawn in the future.

"There is no catch. Can't I simply help to ask for nothing in return?" He replied, asking.

"As if I would believe that." I scoffed.

"I did not make you Queen Luna for nothing, Pam. Everything I do has its purpose and you, my Queen, have one as well." He said.

"What do you mean?" I asked.

Did he make me Queen Luna? No! That cannot be right. Lucius chose me as his mate, not Uriah. What the hell was the mutt talking about?

"All you need to focus on is making sure that you get that crown, no matter what. You are the chosen mate, remember?" He replied.

"You did not answer my question, Uriah. What the hell did you mean you made me Queen Luna?" I asked, repeating my question.

He let out a sigh and looked at me.

"Wasn't it your father who suggested that you become the chosen mate?" He simply asked.

I stared at him suspiciously until he got up from his seat to leave.

"If you want to get rid of that other she-wolf, you know how to reach me." He said before disappearing into thin air.

Even after Uriah had already left, my mind was still trying to decode what he meant by what he said. I was about to give up and completely ignore it when something popped up in my head.

'Holy shit! I hope I am not right about what Uriah said.' I silently wished that I was wrong.

FLASHBACK

I was in the garden with my friends when I saw my father enter the pack house with Uriah.

'What the hell is Uriah doing in here?' I asked myself.

"Pamela, are you listening?" Patricia, one of my friends, asked.

"Huh? I'm sorry. Something just caught my eye." I lied, apologizing.

I made a mental note to ask my father about his visit later on.

Once my tea party had ended, my friends left, and I went back to the pack house. Uriah was just on his way out when I arrived.

"Pamela, looking great, as always." He simply greeted me before bidding goodbye to my father.

I turned to my dad and asked, "Why was he here, dad?"

"Nothing for you to worry about, sweetheart. Why don't you get ready for Lucius' arrival? He will be here in a couple of hours." Dad suggested.

'Ella, what if Uriah was the reason dad suggested to Lucius about having a chosen mate? It couldn't be a coincidence that he met up with my dad a couple of hours before Lucius had the meeting with Dad, can it?' I asked Ella.

'It can be, Pamela. I mean, why else would he suggest helping you get rid of that she-wolf?' She replied.

'Something doesn't add up. How did he even know that I would be here? Has he been keeping tabs on me?' I asked.

'Watch your back, Pamela. You never know what tricks that trickster has up his sleeve,' she warned me.

I could not deny it, though. I was quite interested in how he would get rid of that she-wolf. Knowing Uriah, it would either be something that would lead her to death or locked up in the dungeon. The first one fitted his character better than the latter.

After a couple more minutes in the café, I started walking back to the castle on my own. The peace of walking alone clearly helped a lot with all my entangled thoughts.

'If my hunch is right, that means I am not supposed to be here. I am only being used for a purpose and I need to figure out what it is and what their play is going to be. You will not get away with this, Uriah. I promise you,' I thought to myself.

As soon as I got back, I wanted to check up on Lucius, but Neal stopped me before I even had the chance to knock on his office door.

"With all due respect, Lady Pamela. King Alpha has been lagging behind from all his work because of the emotional issue he went through. He would need to focus on catching up and for him to do so, he needs to be alone. I hope you understand." Neal said.

"I just want to say hi and check on him. After all, I am still his chosen mate, and it is my job to worry and take care of him." I argued.

"I understand, but please give him the time to be alone for now," he replied.

With a defeated sigh, I headed straight to my room and focused my brain on Uriah's plan.
