Chapter 48: Chapter 48
Chapter 48 You lied to him, not me.
LUCIUS POV
The next couple of days passed easily and no one disturbed me either. Thanks to the Moon Goddess!
Surprisingly, I did not see Pamela either. According to the guards in the castle, she has locked herself up in the room. This will only make our job difficult, but Neal and I have concluded that it wasn't something that needed our attention and we didn't have enough time to focus on it.
Only three days were left before the full moon, and the pack doctor was working round the clock, creating a stronger serum to weaken the strength of my curse.
Ever since Maia left, and I fell into the spiral web of depression, my curse seemed to become stronger or maybe it was my body that was becoming weaker. Either way, I am losing control of the power and if I don't have control, things would go ugly.

Instead of going straight to my office, I went to the infirmary to check on the progress of the serum. I need to know what level we are at.
"Doctor, is there any update on the serum you are working on? The full moon is in three days and I badly need it, now more than ever." I asked while staring at the numbers of vials and other chemical stuff on the long counter table in the lab.
"I am conducting a few tests on the serum before finalizing it, King Alpha! As much as I would love to have all the results ready, I can't expedite the process, which will then result in a tampered outcome." She explained.
"How much time do you still need?" I asked her in a serious tone.
"Don't worry, King Alpha. I will have your serum ready before the full moon," she replied gently.
"You have to prepare for it. We can't let history repeat itself. We have gotten so far and I will not allow the curse to pull us back to square one." I admitted.
"I know, King Alpha. We are trying our best to find the solution to this curse. I swear to you we are. It's just that science has never overpowered magic. If we only knew of another witch, we could have at least an idea for a temporary solution, if not a permanent one." She explained.
"I know, Doctor! And I thank you for all your hard work. I would not have reached this far and have this much control without help from you and your staff." I was grateful for their help.
"I am doing my job, King Alpha. I vowed to protect you and that is what I intend to do." She replied with a serious face.
"Okay then, doctor. I'll leave it to you. Update me whenever you get a satisfactory result." I said before heading to the door.
"King Alpha! Can I get another blood sample from you? I want to use a new sample for this new serum." She called and favored a request. I halted in my tracks.
"Of course, whatever you need," I said and went back to her desk and sat on the chair.

She took enough blood for her tests, so I headed back to my office. I all exhaled deeply when Neal informed me about my meeting with Alpha Cassian. It was a meeting that I kept postponed since last month. Since the situation with Pamela, I don't want to meet with her father, let alone talk. But I had to meet, I couldn't keep pushing him to the edge. We needed to talk about the new treaty for our packs and I had delayed it enough because Alpha Cassian didn't know that I had found my mate.
'The guards informed me that Alpha Cassian and his men have entered the pack grounds.' Neal reported through the mind link.
'Okay. Any update on Pamela?' I asked.
'Nothing yet. She's still in her room. Should I tell her about her father's arrival?' he replied, asking if he should inform her.
'Yes, please. Just don't tell her that they are already in the packed ground.' I commanded.
'Okay.' he replied before cutting off the mind link.
I sat behind my desk and fixed all the requests that I had approved and the ones that still needed approval. I was going through the joint list of rogues that finished their probationary months when Alpha Cassian arrived in my office.

"Alpha Cassian! It's a pleasure to have you here. I'm so sorry for the long delays due to some other concerns." I greeted him and walked over to extend my hand for a handshake.
"It's okay, son. I understand that it is not an easy job when you are the King Alpha. By the way, How are you? Have you and Pamela already discussed when you will hold the ceremony?" He asked. I did not expect that he would ask about the matter first.
"I'm good, just busy with all these requests and approvals. That is one of the reasons why we haven't talked about it yet." I replied politely.
"Don't overwork yourself, okay? You have to take care of your health as well. By the way, where is Pamela?" he asked about his daughter.
"I guess she was taking a rest in her room. I will have someone fetch for her if you like." I replied to him.
"No, It's okay. I will meet after the meeting, '' he replied.

We spent the next three hours discussing the treaty and all the other required details with the pack lawyer. When we were sure that we had already covered everything and there was nothing unfair with the treaty, I agreed to the terms and conditions.
"The terms and conditions are drafted wonderfully. I must say that I'm impressed, Alpha Cassian." I appreciated him for it.
"Well, thank you, King Alpha. I can't possibly walk in here with a treaty full of errors, can I? The King Alpha only deserves the best and unflawed treaty." he replied with confidence surfacing on him.
After we signed the treaty and sealed it with the royal stamp, I invited him over for a drink.
"Shall we drink to celebrate this wonderful treaty that we just started?" I asked him.
"Well, I would be a fool to turn down such an offer," he exclaimed cheerfully.
I instructed Neal to bring a bottle of scotch from my room and an ice bucket to the office. A couple of minutes later, he entered the office with a bottle of The Balvenie. It was one of the most expensive bottles of scotch at the time and only a few alphas have a bottle of such scotch.

We spent the next hour drinking and talking about random stuff happening around in neighboring packs. It was all good until Pamela decided to grace us with her appearance.
I almost clawed her in the face when I saw what she was wearing. 'How did she even get a hold of this dress?' She thinks that if she starts wearing Maia's clothes, I might spare her a minute of my time.
"There's my beautiful daughter! How is my baby?" Alpha Cassian asked.
"I'm sorry, Daddy. I was busy picking a dress I might wear in the ceremony." She lied.
"Why don't you come back with me so that your Mom can help you choose the perfect dress?" he asked Pamela.
"That's a good idea, Alpha Cassian. What do you think?" I replied immediately, thinking that Pamela would leave.
"Great suggestion, Daddy. But, I would have to decline because I have a few things to handle so I will be in the castle." She lied.
"Alright. If you ever need any help from your mother, just let me know. I'm sure your mother would love to lend you a hand." He stated.
"Of course, Daddy," she replied with an awful smile plastered on her face.
If anyone said that I was pissed, it would be an understatement. Yes, I was furious, but I had to hide it from them. I can't let Alpha Cassian ask me why I am pissed.
"Well, I have to leave now, but do visit us if you plan on staying here for a while. Your mother greatly misses you." Alpha Cassian said to Pamela.

After they bid goodbye, Alpha Cassian left, and I went back to my office without paying any attention to Pamela. Lucian wanted to stay far away from her, and I agreed with him. I was about to open my office door when her voice rang through the hallway.
"Lucius!" she called me out.
I stopped in my tracks without looking at her.
"Are you seriously going to ignore me? Now what? Are we going to lie to my father about everything?" she asked, furiously.
"It's you who lied to him, not me." I spat, glaring at her before going inside my office and closing the door behind me. Leaving her standing outside.
