Chapter 47: Chapter 47
Chapter 47 Complicated
LUCIUS' POV
No matter how hard I tried to convince Pamela to go back to her pack, she wouldn't leave. Only a couple of days left before the full moon, and I can't afford to have her lingering in the castle when I shift. She doesn't know anything about my curse and I intended to keep it that way.
"Neal, I don't care whatever you do or say to her, make her leave this place," I grunted at my beta.
"Do you think I haven't tried? Seriously! Lucius, this is going to be a big problem. Especially with your curse getting worse. We can't have her here." Neal replied with worry.
"Lucian does not want to be anywhere near her. I might lose control if I try." I said while shrugging my thoughts.
Neal let out an annoyed groan. He rubbed his temples before replying to me.
"Fine! I'll think about this, maybe something we could do. I swear she is going to be the end of me." He replied with annoyance.
"Thanks, Neal." I appreciated his help.
"Yeah, yeah, yeah. You owe me big time." He replied before leaving the office.

I buried myself back to all the paperwork that I had neglected the past couple of weeks. Neal was right. No matter how much it hurt, I needed to keep going on for the sake of my pack.
In the past few weeks, I had been receiving requests and questions about the whereabouts of their Queen Luna from the pack. Her kindness had earned her a place in people's hearts. Rumors spread fast that she was Queen Luna. So, when she stopped visiting the pack house, people got worried and started looking for her.
Lucian felt proud and angered every time he heard someone looking for Maia. He was proud because Maia was being loved by everyone. He was still mad because he still blamed me for her leaving us.
Hours had passed and thankfully, no one disturbed me for a while. I was about to make a call to one of the neighboring Alphas when there was suddenly a knock on the door.
'I swear if this is her, again, I will throw her in the dungeons.' I thought in my head as I let out an annoyed sigh.
"Enter." I permitted the person to stand outside the office.
The door opened, and Emily's face appeared.
"King Alpha! Sorry to disturb you. I am here to serve your lunch," she said with a smile.
"Oh! Thank you, Emily. Please put it on the table." I instructed her.
She did what I told her and carefully arranged the food on the table. When she was about to leave, she stopped suddenly, as if she was hesitating to ask or say something. I watched her slowly turn around with her eyes fixed on the floor.
"King Alpha. May I be brave enough to ask you something?" she asked.
"Go on," I replied, intently looking at her.
"Will she ever come back? I know this sounds so selfish of me, but we greatly miss her. I know for a fact that you miss her too. If there is anything that we can do to bring her back, you will let us know, right, King Alpha?" she asked with hope.
I let out a sigh and leaned on my chair.
"I understand how you and the rest of the pack feel, Emily. Trust me, if there were ways to bring her back, I would have brought her back earlier. Her last words to me that I can't forget, "Don't look for me." and every single part of my body is screaming to go look for her. I want to bring her back, but at the same time, I want to request her wishes. I am sorry, Emily." I explained the situation to her.
"I am sorry for asking, King Alpha. I shall take my leave now." She replied before leaving the office.
I went to the table and looked at the food that Emily had brought. They were one of Maia's favorites - chicken cordon bleu. I contemplated for a couple of seconds whether I should eat or not.
'Don't you dare skip your lunch? I specifically told the omegas to cook her favorite. I know that you miss her, but you have abandoned yourself as well. Eat up.' Neal's voice rang in my head.
'That bastard!' I thought to myself, shaking my head as I pulled out of the chair. I sat down and started eating. A few seconds later, my eyes started becoming teary with all the memories of Maia flashing in my head. I could envision her eating in front of me as she savored the juiciness of the chicken and the cheese. I could still hear her voice when she moaned on her first bite. Damn! That almost threw me to the edge.
As I reminisced about every single thing about her, I did not realize that I had already finished my lunch. I looked at the empty plate, astonished by the fact that I had my lunch without knowing it.
I scoffed as I stood up and headed back to my chair behind the desk. I dived back to my work until the sun had already set.
"Staying in your office for tonight?" Neal asked while leaning at the door.
I lifted my head from the file that I was reading and looked at him.
"No. I'm just finishing up some more requests before I hit my bed. Why? Is there anything you need?" I replied, sort of asking a question from him instead.
"Nope. I was just asking. I thought of accompanying you while you are wrapping up your work." he said, sitting on the couch as he got himself comfortable.
"What are you here for, Neal?" I asked, my eyes not leaving the paper that I was holding.
"Huh? What do you mean? I'm just here for the company." he replied, trying to be naive.
"Yeah, right. Whatever you say." I said, completely ignoring his existence in my office.
A few minutes passed when there was a knock on the door. Neal sat up from the couch and looked at me. I simply shrugged and then he got up to check.
I continued typing on my laptop while Neal answered the door.
'Pamela is here.' Neal said through the mind link.
I let out a sigh, knowing she wouldn't just leave peacefully.
Before I could even reply to him, the door flew open.
"Stop being disrespectful and open that goddamn door when I say so!" Pamela's high-pitched voice echoed in my ears.
Neal was about to say something when she cut him off again.
"Don't tell me that you are about to talk back to me because I am telling you right now that once I am already Queen Luna, you will be banned for your disrespectfulness." She spat at him, arrogantly.
I let out a growl that made her flinch and immediately she lowered her head in respect. Well, she can't help herself because I am the King Alpha.
"You will not ban anyone, let alone my best friend, and you will never be Queen Luna!" I roared which made her entire existence tremble in fear.
She looked at me with teary eyes and asked."Don't you love me anymore? Is it still here? You're still thinking about her, huh? You are dead set on making her your Queen Luna? Have you forgotten that she left you hanging in the middle of nowhere?"
"What do you want, Pamela?" I roared while slamming my palms on my table.
"What does she have that I don't, huh? Does she please you well in bed because I bet I can do better? Tell me." she asked if she is better in any sense.
"She is not a slut, at least," I growled at her.
"What is she then?" she yelled, tears falling down her face.
"She's my mate!" I yelled back at her.
She stared at me in shock.
"No! You are lying." She said and shook her head.
I let out a sigh and ran my hand over my face.
"I am not lying at all. Why do you think I would mark her if she's not my mate? She is not a slut or my side chick. She is the future Queen Luna of my pack." I replied.
"You are lying. If she was your mate, she would not have left in the first place. Besides, you have not announced it to the pack yet. If she was your mate, you would have announced it right away. I don't know why you are lying to me, but I will find out the truth." She snapped and with that, she stormed off.
I exchanged looks with Neal and exhaled deeply as I sat back in my chair.
"Why does everything seem to be much more complicated than it should be?" I asked.
