Chapter 38: Chapter 38

Chapter 38 Picnic

MAIA'S POV

I was in the middle of dreaming about running in the middle of a field of sunflowers when the sun hit my face and woke me up from my dream.

"Ugh!" I groaned as I pulled the covers over my head, hiding from the sun.

I stopped for a second when I realized what I just did. I removed the covers from my head and looked around me.

'I am in my room,' I said in my head.

I searched for the clock and saw that it was ten in the morning.

"What am I doing in my room? How did I get here?" I asked myself again.

I remembered going to Lucius's office after hearing Pamela's whines all the way to my room while I was painting. What I do not remember was how I ended up in my room?

'Of course, our mate carried us, you dummy.' Avi snorted.

'My question is, how did we fall asleep? I don't remember falling asleep, though. All I remember was we went to his office and found her by the door throwing tantrums like a child,' I said.

'Don't ask me. I was already on Cloud 9 the moment he was in front of us,' Avi replied.

I rolled my eyes and shook my head, typical Avi.

I got out of bed and went straight to the bathroom to do my morning routine. Once I was done, I changed my clothes. I just finished getting dressed when I heard a knock on my door.

"Queen Luna, are you already awake?" I heard Emily ask.

"Yes. Come in." I commanded.

The door opened, and Emily entered.

"Good morning, Emily," I greeted her.

"Good morning, Queen Luna. How was your sleep?"

"It was good. What about yours?"

"Likewise, Queen Luna." she answered.

"Today is such a wonderful day for a picnic. Don't you think so?" I asked.

"It is indeed," she answered.

"Will you help me prepare food for a picnic, then? We need to make it quick. It's almost noon," I asked.

"Of course, Queen Luna. There is no need for you to even prepare them yourself. I can have them prepared for you. Just tell me what you want." she said.

"It's okay. I also need to stretch my bones before I go into a vegetative state for doing nothing. Just help me prepare them. Come on," I replied, heading to the door.

We went to the kitchen, and the omegas were happy to see me.

"I'm going to need everyone's help in preparing food for a picnic lunch. We only have an hour and a half to do it, but I believe in all of you," I announced when we arrived at the kitchen.

"Just tell us what you need, Queen Luna. We are at your service," the head omega replied.

I gave them instructions on what to do and what I wanted to make. Ten minutes later, all the ingredients were already prepared.

For the picnic, I planned on making burgers, fries, salad, and brownies for dessert. I instructed them to fry three kilograms of potatoes because I love French fries.

For the burger part, I prefer baking my own buns because I made them a little bit bigger than the normal buns. Same goes with the patties. I prefer my own recipe and seasoning than those of store bought. They lack taste and juiciness.

The only good thing in the castle kitchen was that it was big and there were plenty of people who will help. Within one hour, we managed to make enough burgers for all the people in the castle, including my nemesis.

Once we were done, I had them put the food in separate containers and pack condiments as well. When all the food was packed, I had them put it in a basket with a big cloth to lay on the grass.

While they were cutting the brownies, I went up to my room to get changed.

I just finished changing into a blue dress that reach up to my ankles when Emily knocked on my door.

"Come in," I said.

"We are done preparing the basket, Queen Luna. Is there anything else you'd like to add?" she asked.

"Nope. Let me just finish up and we'll head down."

"Are you going to wear your black sandals?" she asked.

"Yes. Not the ankle straps, though. The other one," I replied.

She went to my walk-in cabinet and came out with the black sandals that I wanted. She placed it in front of me and I slipped my foot in as I stood up.

I went to the vanity and threw my hair into a messy bun.

"How do I look?" I asked, turning around so that Emily could see me clearly.

She looked at me from head to toe before she smiled at me.

"As beautiful as always, Queen Luna. You never fail to look beautifully elegant even when you are wearing a simple dress with no makeup on."

"Oh, come on, Emily. No need to sweet talk me! This is not the image of beauty." I pointed at my face and chuckled.

"I am not sweet talking to you, Queen Luna. I guess the King Alpha's gaze can speak for itself?" she said, implying on something.

Heat immediately rose up to my cheeks at the mention of Lucius' gaze. He definitely loved gazing at me as if I was some kind of painting at a museum.

"You should head downstairs. I still need to pick up my date," I said.

"Yes, Queen Luna," she replied with a mischievous smile.

I took one last look at the mirror before heading to his office. As soon as I arrived, the guards opened the door for me. I gave them a smile as I passed by as my way of saying thank you.

"Maia. Are you going somewhere?" he asked, looking up from his table.

"We are," I said.

He stood up from his desk and walked closer to me.

"Who 'we'?" he asked.

"You and I are going to have a picnic by the falls near the Northern border."

His eyes widened. He was probably surprised and nervous at the same time because I could hear him clearing his throat.

"Okay. What food would you like to bring? I can have the cook prepare them quickly while I go get changed," he asked.

"The food is already prepared. Your presence is the only one that's missing," I replied.

"Oh, wow. Uhm. Okay," He mumbled.

"I'll meet you downstairs, then," I said before leaving his office.

"No." He reached out for my hand and stopped me from walking.

I turned around and glanced at him.

"I meant to say don't go downstairs. Please wait for me here. I'll be right back," he said.

"Okay." I replied.

I scanned his bookshelf while he was gone. He had a lot of books from different genres. I made a mental note to ask him if I could borrow some of his books so that I could read them during my pastime, which I really have a lot these days.

Staying inside the office started to bore me out while waiting for Lucius. I was about to head out when I heard Pamela's voice.

"Tell Lucius that I'm here. I want to talk to him," she said.

"I'm sorry, Lady Pamela. King Alpha is not here," one of the guards replied.

"What do you mean not here?" she asked.

Before any of the guards could answer, I opened the door and smiled at Pamela.

"He is not here because he is getting ready to go out with me."

"What do you mean, going out with you?" she asked.

"Him and I are going out on a date. Why? Do you have any problem with that?" I raised my eyebrow.

"You really have the nerves to disturb him from his work? Who do you think you are? Do you really think you are someone special?" she sneered.

"That is the exact reason why I'm taking him out of his office. He has been cooped up with work that he has forgotten about his meals and a proper rest. Every person needs to rest at times as well," I said.

I took a step closer to her and glared at her.

"Just so you know, not everything is about you. If you really care about the person, you wouldn't just think about yourself." I spat.

Before she had the chance to spit something back, the elevator door opened, revealing Lucius in his normal white shirt and black pants.

"Ready?" he asked.

I nodded my head and took his hand, leading him back to the elevator. I could hear Pamela growling as we walked away without giving so much attention to her.

"Someone's feisty." he commented as soon as the elevator doors closed.

"I just don't like it when people try to take what's mine," I said.

He suddenly stopped the elevator and the next thing I knew it, my back was on the door.

"So you're saying I'm yours then?" he asked.

His hands were between my head and his voice was raspy that it sent chills all over my spine.

"I have your mark, don't I?" I asked back after regaining my composure.

He simply buried his face in my neck and sniffed my scent.

"Mine," he growled.
