Chapter 39 The Falls

MAIA'S POV

When Emily told me about the falls in the pack grounds, I knew I had to see it. I am a sucker for nature, especially water bodies.

On the way to the falls, Lucius kept asking me if I was no longer mad at him.

"I am still mad, but we can't deny the fact that both our wolves want to be together. Space won't do any of us good. I may be civil with you, but I can't promise the same towards Pamela. Avi hates her more than anything else. I'm sure your wolf can relate to it. As long as she stays out of my way, keeps her dirty paws to herself, and shuts her big mouth, I can live with that," I said.

"So, does that mean I can join you during meals?" he asked.

I thought for a second before answering.

"Only meals," I said.

"Okay. I can live with that," he replied.

We were both quiet for the rest of the ride to the falls. We both had a lot of things on our mind.

I was lost in my own thoughts as I stared outside the window of the castle coach we were riding. All the trees and the beautiful sound of birds chirping were extremely hypnotizing.

"King Alpha, Queen Luna. We have arrived," one of the guards announced, opening the door.

I immediately went down and looked around my surroundings. I could not believe how beautiful it really was. The sound of the waterfalls was like music to my ears. The surrounding air was a good kind of cold.

Everything around me was breathtaking, and I was easily dragged into another dimension. I was pulled out of Cloud 9 when a pair of arms wrapped around my waist.

"It's beautiful, isn't it?" he asked.

I simply nodded my head and leaned to his chest involuntarily. Having his mark makes me yearn for his touch.

That's when I remembered about the food that I had brought with me. I had a quick internal panic, which Lucian seemed to notice.

"Don't worry. The food is here. Just enjoy the scenery and relax," he assured and give me a brief smile when he gazed at my side.

I slowly leaned back, my head on his chest, and focused on the falls. Soon enough, I was lost by its mesmerizing beauty again. It was so pretty.

"We should eat while the food is still warm," I suggested a couple of minutes after staring at the falls.

He helped me lay the cloth on the ground before I laid out the food. I could see Lucius watching me prepare the food and he looked like he could not wait to get his hands on them.

"Let's eat."

He did not waste any time and took a burger right away. I watched him as he took a bite of it and moaned as he ate.

"Where did you order this from? This is so good!" he exclaimed, his mouth busy munching on the food in his mouth.

"I made it," I replied, taking a bite from my own burger.

He stopped midway and looked at me as if I had grown two heads.

"You made this?" he asked.

I nodded while chewing my food.

"Like the burger itself?" he asked again.

I swallowed my food and nodded.

"I baked the buns and made the patty from the kitchen," I explained.

"If you keep on cooking, I will lose my amazing, toned body quickly. Damn! Are you secretly planning on making me like a snowman?" he asked, laughing.

I simply looked at him while eating. I prepared six burgers and he ate five of them. It was surprising to see him eat this much, and he even looked like he was enjoying it.

"Aaahhh! I'm so full. I feel like I can just sleep and be happy!" He rubbed his belly using his hand, a wide smile on his face.

I laugh at his remarks because he looked like those couch potato people.

"You're laughing at me when you are the reason I am this fat." he whined like a 9-year-old child.

"Well, who told you to eat five burgers?" I teased.

He simply pouted as he took one brownie and stuffed it in his mouth.

After our lunch, we put away all the empty food containers back in the basket. Luckily, there were lots of trees around covering us from the heat. Lucius took this opportunity to lay his head on my lap and rested.

As I stared at his face, I noticed those dark circles under his eyes. He had been under a lot of stress lately and has been spending sleepless nights in his office. At that moment, everything seemed to be perfect-him laying down peacefully as he took a nap, the amazing weather and the sound of the falls in the background.

I carefully massaged his head as he slept while taking in all the features in his face- slowly memorizing them.

"Will we ever be one of those normal couples? Are we going to be like normal mates? Or is it too much of me to ask for? All I want is for us to be normal mates, but I guess nothing is normal when it comes to us. My wolf and I badly want to just snuggle up to you every single night. We want to be safe and protected in those arms. If you only know how horny my wolf gets, it is so embarrassing, but it's true. There is nothing more in this world that I want than to be with you. I want to wake up in the morning and sleep every night in your arms. I want you to fuck me all night. Gosh! I'm sounding such a desperate, horny bitch right now. I just wished you'd open up to me. I don't know how long I can remain strong. Without you, I'm barely functioning properly. It's just so unfair that I have your mark, but I don't seem to have your heart. I can only try so much. If your heart is really with her, then I'll let you go. As long as you're happy, I'm happy. Even if it breaks my heart to see you with her. So please let me enjoy this little amount of time that I will cherish forever." I confessed while playing with his hair.

On any normal days, I would not be able to tell him any of what I just said. Well, because he was sleeping, I had no problem doing so.

Once he had awoken from his nap, we decided to go for a swim before going back to the castle. We played in the water for about two hours before the castle coach arrived to take us back. Thankfully, Emily sent towels along with a bathrobe.

The ride back to the castle was quiet in a good way. It was as if Lucius and I were lost in our own thoughts.

As soon as we arrived, I went up to my room to get a quick shower and change into dry clothes.

"How was your picnic, Queen Luna?" Emily asked while helping me dry my hair.

"It was nice. Thank you for telling me about the falls. It was really beautiful," I replied, looking at her in the mirror.

"Are you planning on painting the falls?" She asked.

"You know it," I replied.

Emily smiled at me and continued drying my hair. She has already memorized my routine.

I was about to head to the balcony when I heard a knock on the door. Emily went to check who it was while I was tying my hair.

"Queen Luna, King Alpha is here," she announced.

I stood up from my vanity and walked near the door as he entered the room.

"Is there anything you'd like to do? Maybe your wolf wants to go out for a run?" he asked, suggesting.

"Thank you for the invite, but I must decline. I have already taken too much of your time and wouldn't want to disturb you more from fulfilling your duty. Also, I am feeling kind of tired and want to take a nap. Perhaps, next time?" I replied, kindly declining his invitation.

"You are not disturbing me or anything. If that is the reason why you are saying no, you should know that I have already done all my work until next week," he said.

"Perhaps you should take a bit of a break as well, then," I replied with a smile.

When he realized that I had already decided, he left after bidding me a good rest.

'What the hell, Maia?! What did you do that for?' Avi exclaimed, extremely mad at what I did.

'He is the King Alpha, Avi. He has a lot of work that he must finish. We must not disturb him,' I replied.

I sat by my painting area and took a brush and dipped it in the paint.

"Is everything alright, Queen Luna?" Emily asked.

I looked at her with a sad smile.

"It will be..." I simply replied.
