Chapter 36: Chapter 36

Chapter 36 Surprise Visit

LUCIUS' POV

After Maia kicked me out of her room, I stormed to Pamela's room.

'I swear, I will snap her neck and send her body back to her parents in pieces,' Lucian growled.

'Calm down, Lucian. You are acting hastily and you might get the whole pack in trouble! I know you hate her now more than ever but think things through. Calm the hell down!' I spat before blocking him in the mind link.

When I arrived at her door, I gave the guards a nod and they opened the door.

"What the hell, Lucius! First, you push me away and drop me on the floor after surprising you and showering you with affection. Then, you let a random bitch enter a garden that even I was forbidden to enter and let everybody call her 'Queen Luna'. Now you dare shout at me when all I was doing was self-defense?" She asked, exasperated.

"You slapped her, yet you call that self-defense? What were you even doing on the 8th floor? Did I not tell you not to go there?" I retorted.

"Why are you defending her? Who is she? Is she the reason why you keep postponing the ceremony and why you only let me visit you under schedule? Is she?" she yelled.

"Don't change the subject, Pamela. What were you doing there? Why were you following her to the garden?" I asked, trying my best to calm down.

"Why? What's so special about that garden that I can't go there except for her?" She asked.

I let out a sigh and squeezed my head with my hand.

"You are going home first thing in the morning," I said and turned my back against her.

"I am not leaving until I get some answers! May I remind you, Lucius, that I am your chosen mate? Only I will be the Queen Luna of this pack and your mate! Unless you want a war, I can do the honor of telling my dad that the reason for the delay of the ceremony is that you are hiding a slut near your quarters!" she spat.

I growled at her, and I almost lost it. I was a few inches away from her when I regained control.

'Let me out, Lucius. She disrespected our mate! She deserves to die!' Lucian growled, throwing a fit.

'Enough, Lucian!' I shouted.

"If I see you anywhere near the 8th floor, the garden or anywhere near her, I don't care if it comes to a war. I will take you back to your pack myself! Don't test me, Pamela. We both know that all your pack has the numbers, but they don't have the strength of my warriors. Either way, you already know how this is going to end. If I were you, I would be careful." I warned her before I stormed out of the room.

I bumped into Neal on my way to the office and I immediately raised my hand.

"Not now, Neal," I said, entering my office.

"I heard what happened. Is the Queen Luna okay?" he asked.

"Yeah, but she is still mad at me, and Pamela is driving me insane," I replied.

"Why? Tell me, I might be able to help." he asked, offering to help.

"She won't leave. Lucian wants to snap her neck and I'm losing control. With the full moon coming up, I can't have both of them here," I said.

"Calm down. I'll think of something. For now, stay away from her as much as possible. The only person you should be close to is Queen Luna. No one else. I will tell the guards to keep her away from your office and from Queen Luna. I'll figure something out," he replied.

"Thanks, Neal."

I sat in my swivel chair and massaged my temples as I talked to Lucian about cooling down and everything.

For the next couple of days, I spent all my hours in the office as I buried myself with paperwork.

"I told you, let me in!" I heard a voice that I did not want to hear.

I let out a sigh and dragged myself to the door. With an annoyed look on my face, I opened the door and glared at her.

"What do you want, Pamela? I'm busy working." I asked, my voice marked with irritation.

"I came to apologize. I was just jealous the other day and I was not thinking straight," she uttered in a flirty voice.

She tried to throw herself at me, but I took a step back, which caused her to stop.

"You should go back to your room. I still have a lot of work to do," I replied, closing the door.

A foot by the door stopped it from closing. I rolled my eyes and let out an extremely annoyed sigh. I was about to snap at her when my mate's scent hit my nose. With her scent intoxicating me so quickly, I forgot about the matter I had in hand for a moment.

'Wait! Is she here?' I exclaimed in my head.

I swiftly opened the door and saw her.

"Are you deaf or are you dumb? Did he not clearly say that he was busy? Or are you just that desperate to throw yourself at somebody else's man?" Maia asked, looking all displeased at Pamela's attitude.

"Ugh! How dare you talk to me like that! Don't you know who I am?" Pamela asked.

"I don't need to know who you are. What I know is that this is enough," Maia replied with grace.

She then turned to me and looked into my eyes for a second.

"I can't believe you almost chose her in my place," Maia shook her head as she entered the office.

"I have been waiting since earlier and you even have the guts to just cut in front of me?" Pamela scoffed.

'Duh! No one makes the Queen Luna wait. No one,' I said in my head.

"Like I said, I don't care," Maia simply said and closed the door behind her.

Even me, who was holding the door, was shocked with how she reacted that I didn't even have the chance to stop the door or whatever. Well, not that I wanted to.

It took me a while to recover from what happened.

"Hi. Uhm. Is there anything you need?" I asked, trying not to stutter.

"Nothing really. I just came because she was driving me nuts. I could hear her whine all the way to my room." She complained, rubbing her temples as she sat on the couch.

"I'm sorry about that. Is there anything I can do to help?" I asked.

She let out a sigh and leaned her head on the couch.

"Will she shut up if I'm here?" She asked, without looking up.

"Uhm. I am not sure, but it's a thought," I replied.

"Well, she better shut up or I will shut her up myself." She groaned.

Her being this close to me was clouding my mind. Lucian wanted to just pin her on the wall the moment she closed the door.

'Make sure that Lady Pamela will not leave her room at all cost.' I instructed One of the guards.

"Would you like some snacks?" I asked, breaking the silence between us.

I looked up from my desk and noticed that she was just quiet. I stood up from my chair and kneeled beside her, checking if she was okay. As I listened to her breathing, I realized that she had already fallen asleep.

Carefully removing the throw pillows on the long couch, I carried her and laid her down. I took the freshly washed thin blanket from my cabinet and covered her with it.

'Make sure that the whole floor would be very quiet. I don't want any noises to be heard. Queen Luna is asleep. If she wakes up because of any noise, I will throw you all to the dungeon.' I warned the guards posted outside my office.

I went back to my seat behind the table and continued with my work.

'Can't we lie next to her?' Lucian asked.

'No, Lucian. She will definitely get mad at us if we do. Besides, we still have a lot of work to finish.'

Even though she was too far from me to my liking, I was already content knowing that she was just a couple of feet away from me. Her scent and her presence were more than enough to calm my mood and lift it up.
