Chapter 35 Baking, Visiting, and Playing

MAIA'S POV

After what happened yesterday, Lucius posted two guards outside my room and another two guards to always follow me. It started to become a nuisance because I do not prefer to be followed around.

Since I was already bored to death, I asked Emily to take me to the kitchen.

"What do you want to do in the kitchen, Queen Luna? Are you thinking of cooking something or baking?" she asked.

"Not really. I just want to see what's going on there. I am bored to death and there's nothing to see other than these rooms." I replied.

She covered her mouth as she lightly chuckled.

"As you wish, Queen Luna. I will take you to the kitchen."

"Thank you. It's about time I see something else other than the garden and this room."

With the two guards behind us, we went down to the kitchen where there were about twenty omegas cooking and cleaning.

"Queen Luna," they all greeted as they bowed their heads.

It was still amazing to see how they show me the same respect as Lucius even though I have not been fully announced yet to the whole pack as his mate or their Luna.

"I must say that you guys are amazing cooks. You never fail to amaze me with all the meals that you prepare for me," I said.

They all smiled and thanked me for my kindness when all I did was appreciate their hard work.

"Are you already done for today?" I asked.

"Yes, Queen Luna. We have already prepared the meal for lunch. Why? Do you have any special requests, or is there something you would like to eat? We can prepare it for you," the head omega asked.

"Not really. I was thinking of baking brownies. It has been quite some time since I last baked. Would you girls like to help me?" I asked.

"It would be an honor, Queen Luna. What do you need? Tell us and we will prepare it for you."

"Fantastic! Well, we will need flour, eggs, butter, sugar, cocoa powder, chocolates, and more chocolates," I answered with excitement written all over my face.

They giggled when I said chocolates twice.

"One can never go wrong with lots of chocolates," I said with a wide smile.

While they gathered the ingredients, Emily was quick to get me an apron. She insisted to help me put it on, although I could even bake without an apron. The little mess from baking never really bothered me.

Once they had brought all the ingredients, I asked them for big trays and big bowls where we could mix the batter.

"Queen Luna, if I may ask, how much brownies are we going to make?" the head omega asked.

"Enough to feed the entire pack. Can we do that?"

"We surely can, but what's the occasion, Queen Luna? Also, why brownies? What not cake?" she asked.

"There is no occasion. I just felt like wanting to do something for the entire pack. Something to let them know that they are appreciated. Why brownies, you ask? From where I grew up, cakes are the normal delicacy that they have. Be it birthday, wedding, anniversary or even just a simple gathering, there are always cakes, but you barely find brownies on any occasion. I happen to love brownies and who knows, maybe they will, too." I explained.

"That is so kind of you, Queen Luna," she said.

"Well, let's get started then. I assume we have a lot of brownies to bake. We don't have all day to waste." I added.

I had them all take a bowl and follow the steps that I was doing.

"First, we are going to melt the chocolate with the butter. Once the chocolate and the butter are melted, we will add the sugar. Be careful, the bowl will be hot. You might burn your fingers." I instructed.

I watched them as I mixed the ingredients in my bowl.

"Next, we will slowly add the eggs one by one. Make sure to mix them nicely. Then, you add the cocoa powder." I added.

They all followed as I said and slowly mixed the ingredients.

"Alright! Our last ingredient would be flour," I announced.

After a few minutes, everyone was all done with the batter.

"Alright! Now we pour them into our pans and bake them," I instructed.

Once all the pans were filled with brownie batter, they carefully put the pans in the oven. I sat on the stool as we waited for the brownies to finish.

"Tell me. How long have you girls been here? Or were you born in this pack?" I asked.

They all gathered around the table and sat.

"Most of us were born and raised here, Queen Luna. There are only a few of us that transferred here when they found out that their mates are from this pack," the head omega answered.

"How do you like it here? Please, don't hesitate to tell me. It is my duty to know if our people are being treated right or not." I asked.

"There is nothing to worry about us, Queen Luna. The King Alpha is taking good care of us. There is nothing more we could ask," another omega replied.

"I am happy to hear that, then. If there is anything you girls need or would like to suggest, my doors are always open to listen to you. Never feel shy," I said.

After a few more minutes of chatting with the girls, the brownies have finally finished baking.

"Hmm... That smells great! Let's set them on the table to cool down a bit before we cut them and place them on small containers for each family."

Once they had placed all the trays of brownies on the table, I could not help myself but to take one. When I heard giggling, I found all of them looking at me.

"Did I tell you how much I love brownies? Whenever I bake one, I have to bake at least two trays because one of them is already finished before it completely cools down." I smiled and shook my head.

"Be careful, Queen Luna. You might burn your tongue," another omega reminded.

"Don't worry! I am an expert at eating freshly baked brownies. Why don't you girls try it? Come on, it is delicious!" I suggested.

I passed the tray to Emily, who took a slice before passing it to the person next to her until everyone had a slice of brownie. I watched them as they all took a bite and tasted it.

"Wow! This is amazing, Queen Luna. I am sure that everyone in the pack would love this!" The head omega exclaimed.

"I really do hope so," I said with a hopeful smile.

"I do know so." Emily added.

I gave her a smile and thanked her.

"Well, let's cut them up and put them into the containers." I instructed.

The cutting and packing of the brownies took almost half an hour. Once we were done, I had them pack all the containers of brownies in a big bag.

"I will just change then we will head to the pack house," I stated, before m and Emily left the kitchen.

"I don't think it's wise to leave the castle without the King Alpha's permission, Queen Luna," Emily said while we were in the elevator.

"It doesn't really matter, Emily. We are not going anywhere outside the pack grounds. Besides, I have my two guards following me everywhere. I bet he already knows about my plan," I replied.

I went straight to the bathroom and washed my face while Emily prepared the dress that I would wear.

"Are you girls ready?" I asked, looking at them when we came back to the kitchen.

"Yes, Queen Luna." the head omega answered.

When we were about to leave, one of my bodyguards stopped me.

"Apologies, Queen Luna. King Alpha instructed to you to take the castle coach to the pack house." he said.

"Why can't I just walk like any normal person?" I asked.

"Queen Luna, the pack house is a little bit far from the castle. It will take us about two hours if we go by foot." Emily said.

"I see." I replied.

I let out a sigh and looked at the guard.

"What about these girls? Where are they going to ride?" I asked.

"There is a bigger coach where they will fit, Queen Luna." he answered

"Okay. I will ride with them then," I said.

"But the King Alpha especially instructed that you would ride on a separate coach, Queen Luna," he replied.

"Then tell him that I am not going to. If he wants to stop me, then try doing so."

He was frozen in his spot for a couple of seconds before he caught up with me. I watched them as they carried the bags of brownies inside the coach and took their seats. I entered the coach and sat all the way at the very end, with Emily beside me.

The ride to the pack house took us about half an hour in total. I was surprised by what I saw when I got down the coach. There were lots of trees and flowers on the sidewalk. It was a mesmerizing village.

Emily suggested we head to the pack center and give away the brownies from there. Soon, the word spread that the future Queen Luna was giving away brownies for everyone. Within minutes, we had a long line of people and kids wanting to get to taste the free brownies.

"Thank you so much, Queen Luna. May the Moon Goddess bless your kind heart," one lady said.

I smiled at her and thanked her for her wonderful words.

It took us about an hour to finish giving away all the brownies that we baked. We stayed a bit more and played with the children in the park.

"Queen Luna, the King Alpha is suggesting we go back to the castle now," one of the guards whispered in my ears.

"I understand," I replied.

I bid my goodbye to the kids before heading to the coach.

On our way back to the castle, we talked about how much fun we had and planned on doing them again next month.

I had a big smile on my face as I walked back to my room when I bumped into Pamela in the elevator. The guards stood in front of me immediately as she passed by.

"Mark my words, bitch. You can't hide forever," She spat.

I simply ignored her and entered the elevator. I was way too happy to be bothered by her childish remarks.

As soon as we got in my room, I immediately went to my painting area. I wanted to paint the beautiful park with the kids playing around before while memories of them were still fresh in my mind.
