Chapter 34: Chapter 34
Chapter 34 First interaction
MAIA'S POV
For the next couple of days, I decided to get out of my room and walk around the castle.
She might know more people around, but I was pretty sure that everyone in the castle knew who the Queen was.
The guards would give me a curt nod and greet me 'Queen Luna' as I passed by them. It was for once when I did not care about being called Queen Luna.
Emily and I were on our way to the garden when I bumped into Neal in the hallway.
"Queen Luna, how was your rest last night?" he asked.
I did not need to turn around to know that Pamela was just behind us.
"Hello, Neal. I had a wonderful rest. Thank you for asking. How are you this fine morning?" I replied with a mischievous smile on my face.
"That is wonderful news, Queen Luna. I am great. May I know where you are headed to?"
"I am just going out for a walk in the garden. A fresh air with the scent of the flowers sounds perfect for a morning tea, don't you think?" I curtly smiled.
" That is an excellent choice! I should have the omegas prepare you a wonderful tea with a light snack on the side. May you have a wonderful walk around the garden, Queen Luna," he said and bowed
"Thank you," I replied before taking my leave.
I continued walking towards the elevator and waited for Emily to get inside before closing it. Once the elevator started to descend, I let out a small laugh as I thought about the short encounter I had with Neal.
"Lady Pamela must be furious right now after witnessing that conversation you had with Beta Neal," Emily commented.
"Well, she should be. She better go to Lucius and complain about it because I would love to see her frustrated," I replied with a smirk on my face.
Thoughts of her frustrated face lingered in my mind as we walked to the garden.
"Where are we going, Queen Luna?" Emily asked.
"To the garden."
"Which garden?" she asked.
I looked at her with a confused face.
"What do you mean, which garden?" I asked.
"There are three gardens around the castle Queen Luna," she replied.
"Oh, really? I did not know that!" Surprised, I turned to her.
"Well, did King Alpha tell you which garden he brought you to before?" she asked.
"He did not say, but I am certain that this is the way." I pointed at the road we took. Emily nodded and followed me.
A couple of minutes later, we finally arrived at the garden. There were two guards outside the gate.
"Good morning, Queen Luna," they greeted, opening the garden gates.
"Good morning," I greeted them back as I entered the garden.
"The King Alpha has never let anyone step foot in this garden except for those who were assigned to take care of the plants and flowers in this garden," Emily said as she entered behind me.
"What do you mean? Was this a forbidden area?" I asked and sat on one of the marble garden benches.
"It was restricted to others. Some said it was the King Alpha's favorite garden." He would come here at night and sit on one of these benches while staring at the moon. This garden had always been guarded and not even Lady Pamela had entered this place," she explained.
I sat there in complete surprise and amazement. I could not help but think about the reason why Lucius had kept this garden private.
A few minutes after our arrival, we heard a commotion at the gate of the garden. I focused my ears on the noise as I figured out what was going on.
"Let me enter this garden!" I heard Pamela instruct.
"I am sorry, Lady Pamela. This garden is a restricted area," one guard said.
"If it is restricted, then why are there people inside this garden? Besides, what is so different about this garden?" she asked.
"Only those with the King Alpha's permission can enter this garden. We were given strict orders that no one but the Queen Luna can enter this area," the other guard answered.
"Then move away because I am your Queen Luna!" she ordered.
They must have blocked the gate because I could hear commotions going on outside. Emily was about to stand up when I stopped her.
I shook my head and said, "Leave it to them."
"How dare you defy my orders? I am the Queen Luna of this pack!" she exclaimed.
A few seconds later, I heard Neal's voice.
"What is going on here?" he asked.
"Can you tell this fool who I am? They won't let me enter the garden because the only person who can enter is Queen Luna, which is me!" she complained.
"Apologies, Lady Pamela. Why don't you talk with King Alpha in regard to this concern? I am sure he can answer all your concerns. Would you like me to assist you?" he said, offering to take her to Lucius.
The thought of her being with Lucius was enough to make me want to pull her by the hair and let her eat dirt. Thankfully, Emily held my hand took me out of my anger balloon.
I smiled at her and mouthed a 'Thank you.'
"This is ridiculous!" I heard Pamela exclaimed.
A few seconds later, Pamela and Neal left. I let out a sigh and shook my head.
Just as Neal promised, an omega arrived with a cup of tea and a tray of snacks.
"Thank you," I said, smiling at her.
After she had placed the tea and the snacks on the table, I dismissed her, leaving me and Emily alone. I spent an hour in the garden until the sun started to become hotter.
Once we got back inside the castle, we went straight to my room. Emily insisted that I take a rest before lunch time so that my body could cool down from the heat of the sun.
I just got off the elevator and was about to head to my room when I saw Pamela stomped her way towards me. The next thing I felt was a different wave of pain on my left cheek when her hand crashed against it.
'Did she just slap us?' Avi asked, begging to be let out.
"How dare you slap me?" I spat, my eyes staring sharply at her.
"How dare me? How dare you flirt your way to his bed, huh? What did you have to do? Tell me! Did you suck his dick? Did you fuck him? Enlighten me!" She yelled.
"Did you really think everyone is like you? I'm sorry, but I'm not some bitch who will do anything to get the crown." I scoffed.
Trying to stay calm and getting Avi to calm down was easier said than done.
"You have the nerve to call me a bitch? Do you want another slap on your face to wake up from the truth that you are nothing but a slut?" she spat.
"If there was a slut here, it would be you. Have you ever thought for a second why everyone was calling me Queen Luna, even though you are the chosen mate? Better yet, did you ask Lucius why you were not allowed to enter that private garden?" I asked, making her furious.
"You, bitch!" she yelled.
She was about to hit me again when a growl erupted in the hallway.
"If that hand touches her, I will snap your neck and put your head on a spike!" Lucius roared and stomped his way to us.
Pamela's hand shook in fear that she could barely move it. I looked at her with a smirk plastered on my face.
"Are you okay?" Lucius asked and checked my cheek, which must be turning red by now from her previous slap.
He let out a low growl when I winced at his touch. He held my face close to his as he took a deep breath. I knew that he was inhaling my scent to help calm him and his wolf down. Seeing me get hurt pushed him and his wolf to the edge, and he was more furious than Avi.
After a few seconds, he turned to his side and ordered the guards to put Pamela away and lock her in her room.
"King Alpha," Emily called out, causing him to move his face away from mine.
I looked at Emily and saw her giving Lucius an ice pack.
"Thank you," Lucius said.
He led me back to my room and made me sit on the bed as he placed the ice pack on my red cheeks. I focused my eyes on the balcony while he was sitting in front of me.
"I'm so sorry for what happened. After what happened last night, Lucian has been very mad and wanted to snap her neck right away. If I acted hastily, it could cause a war which I don't want to happen. I know that I have a lot of explaining to do, but I am really trying my best. I just never thought it would resort to this." Lucius explained.
"Until you have an explanation for me, please leave. Deal with her in whatever way you want, but don't come to me or talk to me until you are ready to answer my questions." I spoke.
I got up from the bed and went to the balcony as I waited for him to leave.
