Chapter 31: Chapter 31

Chapter 31 Busy??

MAIA'S POV

To my utter surprise, I woke up in an unfamiliar room. I was about to roll over and check where I was when an arm draped over my waist.

'Holy cow!' I exclaimed in my head.

I didn't need to turn around to see whose arm it was. The sparks that brought chills to my spine were more than enough to know who it was – Lucius.

I couldn't help but smile at the memories of last night. We watched the sunset last night and then, after a quick shower; he prepared a quick mac and cheese for dinner. Since he didn't want to let me stay outside, we made s'mores in the fireplace. It was fun.

After talking about random stuff for hours, we decided to spend the night in the Lake House. Sleeping next to him with his arms draped over me was like Heaven. Even Avi had so much fun.

Unfortunately, all good things came to an end.

"Good morning." He greeted me.

His voice sounded so sexy that if I wasn't facing the other way, I would have kissed him endlessly.

I slightly turned my head to his side and smiled.

"Morning," I replied.

He turned my body around so that I was facing him. My hands accidentally landed on his chest. The sparks and his bare chest were driving my hormones wild. I cleared my throat and forced my eyes to look somewhere else.

"Do you like what you see?" he asked as if he was even enjoying seeing me this disturbed.

I tried to move from my position, but he held me closer to his chest.

"There is nothing you should be ashamed of or be shy about. Everything you see is yours. You can stare for as long as you want. Touch it. Taste it. Do whatever you want with it because it is yours." he said.

I felt my heart somersault and heat rose to my cheeks. For once, I was thankful that my face was hidden because I was certain that it was as red as a tomato.

"Tell me. What would my Queen Luna want to have for breakfast?" he asked.

My heart skipped a beat when he called me his Queen Luna.

He slowly raised my head, so that I was looking at him.

"What do you want to eat? Do you want pancakes? Bacon and eggs? Bread?" he asked, giving me options.

"Pancakes sound nice," I replied, my voice barely a whisper.

"Your wish is my command, my Queen. Stay here while I make breakfast. I'll be right back." he said, kissing me on the nose before getting up.

He pulled the cover over my shoulder before leaving the room. I snuggled the blanket closer to me as I sniffed his lingering scent.

'I wish we could stay here forever.' Avi said.

'Forever does not exist, remember? We only have a lifetime to live. A life that we must live to the fullest.' I replied.

'See what a day at the lake house has done to you? You're turning to a poet now. This is what we need, Maia.' Avi said.

'Stop, Avi. Don't ruin the little happiness that we have.' I replied.

I ignored what she said and got out of bed. That was the only time I realized that I was wearing Lucius's t-shirt and his boxers. Since he was about 6 inches taller than me, his shirt ended up like a dress compared to my height.

I wasn't really small. Compared to other she-wolves, I was taller than the average height of 5'3. I got my height of 5'5 from my Mom who was also tall with a petite body. She had long straight hair, a complete opposite of my long curly locks. My parents' friends would always say that I was a complete half of my parents. I got my curly hair from my dad, while I got my height and body size from my mom. Even my face was a split copy of theirs.

I looked at myself in the mirror by the cabinet. Ever since he marked me, I never got the chance to stare at it. Looking at the mark now, I just noticed that it was a black wolf inside the moon. It was so mesmerizing to look at that and I did not realize Lucius was already behind me until he touched my mark.

His touching my mark gave me the feeling like I was electrocuted. It was like a million sparks shot throughout my body.

"Do you like it?" he asked.

I nodded, involuntarily leaning my head on his chest.

"We should head to the kitchen and eat before the food gets cold," he suggested.

"Okay," I replied.

He took my hand and led me to the kitchen.

"Here, take a seat," he said, pulling out a chair for me.

I sat and waited for him to sit as well.

We talked about our favorite hobbies over breakfast. I didn't know that he was the adventurous type. Before he became the King Alpha, he would always be out climbing mountains, going skydiving, and doing all the extreme activities.

A couple of hours after our breakfast, our mini-me time ended. We had to go back to the castle because he still had a lot of work to do and meetings to attend.

Although I told him that I could go back to my room on my own, he still insisted on walking me back.

"I hope you had fun," he said, standing by the bedroom door.

"I did. Thank you so much." I replied, thanking him for the quick escapade.

"We should do it again sometime and don't hesitate to tell me if you need anything or if you want to go somewhere," he said.

I smiled at him and thanked him for his offer.

"I have to go for now, but if I finish early, would you like to eat outside?" he asked.

"Sure. I would love that." I replied.

"Okay. I better go and start working then." He said.

I nodded my head and watched him leave.

As soon as he was gone, I started feeling sad and lonely. I was already missing him, even though we were just together a couple of minutes ago.

'Maia, I want to see him. I want to be near him.' Avi complained for the nth time.

'I already told you, Avi. He has work to do. Stop being a clingy wolf.' I snapped.

I was already fed up by her non-stop whining that I had to shut her up. I could also feel the pull of the mate bond and her complaining about it does not change the fact that I was getting fed up with it.

A couple of hours have passed, and I kept my mind occupied by painting, hoping it would distract me until the end of the day.

I was in the middle of painting the Lake House when I heard a knock on the door. Just by the scent, I already knew that it was Neal.

"Wow! Let me guess. You are painting the Lake House?" he asked, guessing the unfinished painting.

"How did you know?" I teased.

"So, how was your overnight picnic? Did you have fun?" he asked, wiggling his eyebrows.

I rolled my eyes and shook my head.

"Yes, we had fun, but not the same fun that's running in your head," I said.

"Relax. I'm just joking. I am glad that you two had time to hang out and just be alone." he replied.

"Me too," I added.

"Have you had your dinner already?" he asked.

"Not yet. Lucius said that if he finishes early, we'll go out to have dinner." I replied.

"Did he? Well, do you want to go and check? He might be already doing work for next week and he doesn't know. You know, he tends to lose track of time whenever he is working." he suggested.

"Sure, why not." I agreed.

I got changed real quick before following Neal to Lucius' office. The whole time we were on our way, I was thinking if Lucius would be surprised when he see me or not.

Little did I know that I was the one in for a surprise.

I felt my heart drop when Neal opened his office door. Well, Neal was right. He tended to lose track of time whenever he was working because he was way too busy.

Before anyone could have stopped me, I turned on my heels and ran to the elevator. I did not realize where I was heading. My feet led me to the room that I never thought I would go back to - the attic. Well, at least no one would think that I'd be here.

I entered the room and closed it quietly. Luckily, the bed was still there with the blanket and everything. It seemed to be cleaned because it did not have any dust on it or any foul smell at all. I laid down on the bed as I hugged the other pillow and quietly cried.

I cried that night until I fell asleep.

If only I could mend my aching heart.
