Chapter 107 Where Is The Doctor?

MAIA'S POV

The past 6 months had been a roller coaster ride. Ever since Lucius found out that I was pregnant, he had been overprotective of me. He wanted me to take a rest, and he now prohibited the things I used to do before.

FLASHBACK

"You will no longer work―not in the office or in the field. You will be relieved from all of your duties until further notice. From now on, all you have to focus on is taking a rest. You should stay away from stress as much as possible because your health and our baby's health is our priority." Lucius said.

"I am barely 2 months pregnant. Besides, I do not do any heavy lifting or strenuous activities. I can still do my duties and will do them. It's not like I am paralyzed." I argued.

"No, my love. I have already decided, and it is final." He stated before heading to his office.

My hormones and morning sickness were a pain in the ass for the first couple of weeks. I was constantly vomiting and felt dizzy.

My situation gave Lucius more reasons to even put me on bed rest.

I was getting ready to attend the graduation ceremony at the school when I started having contractions.

"Queen Luna, are you okay?" Emily asked when I suddenly sat down on the bed due to the contractions.

"Ow! I am having contractions." I managed to say as the pain got more intense by the second.

"Do you want me to call the doctor? I need to inform the King Alpha!" Emily was perturbed.

"Emily! Relax!" I exclaimed, getting her attention. I did not want her to panic.

"Right. Sorry, Queen Luna. Please tell me, what do you need?" She replied.

"You have to calm down first. These are just contractions. It's not like my water broke down already." I explained to her.

After saying that, I felt water gush down my legs.

"You mean now, Queen Luna?" She asked. Worriedness and panic were visible on her face.

I tried not to panic as I calmed myself and took deep breaths.

"Mind link the doctor. Tell her that I am in labor." I instructed.

I was about to head to my closet to get some clothes when Emily stopped me.

"Where do you think you are going, Queen Luna?" She asked.

"I am going to my closet to change clothes. I look like I peed on my dress." I replied.

"Stay here, Queen Luna. You don't need to move; I will get it for you. You just need to stay where you are." She said.

While waiting for Emily to get my clothes, I tried to reach Lucius through the mind link.

'Where are you, love? My water broke, and I am in labor.' I asked as calmly as possible.

A couple of seconds passed, and I did not get any response from Lucius, so I tried to reach out to Neal.

'Neal, where are you? Are you with Lucius?' I asked.

'Yes, Queen Luna. What happened? Is everything okay?' He replied and asked.

'I was trying to reach him, but I think he blocked everyone on his mind link.' I answered.

'Oh. We were busy planning for the expansion. Is there anything you want to tell me? Is there something you need?' He asked.

'Please tell him that my water broke, and I am in labor.' I said.

'Oh shit! We are on our way, Queen Luna.' He replied.

A couple of seconds later, Emily brought a new dress, but she looked worried.

"Why are you so worried? What is wrong, Emily?" I asked.

"Queen Luna, we have quite a problem." She said, her voice filled with disquietude and hesitation.

"Why? What happened?" I asked.

"The doctor is out of town. She would not make it in time to deliver your baby." She replied.

I tried my best not to panic, but the situation made me anxious.

How about my baby? How was I supposed to give birth without a doctor?

Lucius came running with Neal behind him before I even had the chance to ask Emily if any other doctors were available.

"Love, I am sorry. Are you alright? How are you feeling? Wait! Where is the doctor? Why are you still sitting down?" Lucius impatiently asked when he saw me.

"Hmm... The doctor is out of town." I mumbled as another wave of contractions hit me.

"What?! Why is she out of town? Find another doctor, Neal. Hurry!" He exclaimed.

Neal was clever and did not need to be told twice. Upon hearing what Lucius said, he quickly left and tried to find another doctor.

A couple of minutes passed before Neal came back.

"King Alpha, we have a problem," Neal said upon entering the room.

"What is it?" Lucius asked.

"Unfortunately, there are no available doctors or midwives around. They are all in a seminar and won't make it in time to deliver the baby." Neal replied.

"Shit! Then find someone who can!" Lucius growled.

"Hey, relax. I will be fine." I managed to say those words while experiencing contractions.

"What do we do, King Alpha?" I heard Emily ask.

"Hmm... Ask anybody from the pack if someone knows how to deliver a baby. Go! Hurry!" Lucius ordered Emily.

After Lucius' instruction, Emily and Neal left the room to find anyone who could help me. I did not know how many minutes had passed since they left, but when another contraction hit me, I could not help but scream. It was excruciating.

"Lucius, it hurts! Please tell them to hurry! It hurts!" I screamed.

"I am sorry, Love. Tell me how I can help, and I will do my best" He tried to comfort me.

"I feel like I am going into labor soon, Lucius. I am scared, and I don't know what to do." I said while crying.

"Don't worry. We will find someone, and you will be fine." He reassured me.

After what felt like an eternity, Neal and Emily returned with a girl. I hoped that woman knew how to deliver a baby.

"Who is she? Is she a doctor or a midwife?" Lucius asked.

"Neither, but she claimed she could help," Neal answered.

"King Alpha. Queen Luna. I am the doctor's distant relative. I am the hybrid that you have approved to join the pack. If you allow me, I would love to help Queen Luna. I can lessen her pain until my aunt gets here to deliver the baby safely." She explained.

"What are you going to do? And what is your name?" Lucius asked.

"My name is Trinna Warner. I am a half-witch and a half-werewolf. I know a couple of spells that can ease the pain. Let me help her." She replied.

I knew that Lucius was hesitating with the look on his face. Given the fact that she was half-witch, it gave him a lot of reason to doubt.

"No! I will not let you touch my wife. You are not a doctor. How am I going to be sure that you are not going to hurt her?" He exclaimed.

"But... I am not like what you think. I only know basic spells because I was never taught to do them. Besides, I have nothing against you or Queen Luna to possibly hurt either of you. I am just trying to help Queen Luna, King Alpha." She explained.

Their interrogation was interrupted when I screamed because of another wave of contractions that hit me.

"Aarrgghh! Lucius, just let her help. It hurts too much, and I cannot take it anymore. Please, let her." I begged him as I screamed in pain.

I did not know what would happen next. The last thing I heard was "Okay" before I lost consciousness.
