Chapter 101: Chapter 101
Chapter 101 Awake
LUCIUS' POV
I woke up to a weird sound of a beeping machine.
'What the hell is that noise? More importantly, what is that noise doing in my room?' I asked myself.
I was more shocked when I saw complete darkness around me.
'Maia?' I called out, or so I thought I did.
'Welcome back, dickhead,' Lucian said.
'Huh?' I asked, confused.
'You have been out for a couple of months. We both have been, but I woke up earlier than you,' he replied.
'Out? What do you mean?' I asked.
'Did you lose your vocabulary while we were in a coma?' He asked in return.
'We were in a coma?' I exclaimed.
'Yes, genius!' He replied.
'For how long?' I asked.
'I don't know, but I have been awake for a couple of weeks,' he replied.
'Why can't I see a thing, then?' I asked.
'I don't think your eyes are open, Lucius. Try again,' he replied.
I focused on what he said and tried to open my eyes again. This time, I was successful. It took me time, though, to adjust my eyes to the light in the room.
The first thing my eyes landed on was the machines that were attached to me.
"The King Alpha is awake!" I heard a voice say.
Before I could even turn my head to see who the voice's owner was, the person was already gone.
A couple of minutes later, I heard footsteps coming.
"King Alpha, please blink your eyes if you can hear me," the pack doctor said.
I did as she asked me to and blinked my eyes.
She just started doing some tests on me when I smelt the scent that I was missing most of the time - my mate's scent.
"Hi, handsome. Welcome back. I missed you like crazy," she said excitedly.
I wanted to pull her into a hug and tell her that I missed her more, but I couldn't move nor talk.
She couldn't contain her happiness and excitement as she hugged me. I felt something wet on my face and knew that they were her tears.
"I'm sorry, Queen Luna. We need to just run some tests on the King Alpha so that we can remove the tubes and the machines connected to him," the pack doctor said.
I wanted to growl at the doctor, but I knew she had to do it. I couldn't wait to have all the wires and tubes attached to me removed so that I could do whatever the fuck I wanted- hug my mate.
After almost half an hour of waiting, they had finally removed all the wires and tubes. As soon as they were gone, I immediately pulled Maia into a hug and cuddled with her.
"I missed you so much, my Queen. You have no idea," I said as I tightened my arms around her.
"I am pretty sure that I know exactly what you are talking about," she replied.
We cuddled for hours, talking about almost everything, catching up on all the things that happened over the past six months that I was in a coma.
"So, what happened to Uriah?" I asked.
She went quiet for a couple of seconds before facing me.
"He has been in the dungeons ever since the war ended," she replied.
"What about Tatiana?" I asked.
"She is already dead. We burnt her body with the blue fire," she replied.
The blue fire was the only fire that could literally kill a witch. My grandpa used blue fire on a dead witch, so that was what we thought. It turned out that the witch was not yet dead, and when we burned her with the blue fire, she started screaming in pain. The blue fire was like wolfsbane for wolves. They could not use any of their magic when they were inside the fire.
"I want to see Uriah," I said after a couple of moments of silence.
She turned her head around and looked at me as if I grew two heads.
"Are you sure?" She asked.
"Yup. I need to talk to him. In the end, he is still my brother and is the only family I have left. He was just so young, so he must have felt scared. He needs me now more than ever. I can't abandon him now," I explained.
"I understand that you care about him, Lucius, but I also want to remind you that he almost killed you," she said.
"I know that, Maia. This is exactly why I want to talk to him. No matter how much he almost killed me and how much pain he has caused the people around me and me, I can't just abandon him. What if he regrets all of it and has changed? I have to give him the benefit of the doubt. For the sake of my family," I replied.
She let out a sigh and nodded her head.
"Okay. He's your brother, after all. No one can stand in the way between families, but you need to focus on getting all your energy back before I would even let you go to the dungeons," she said.
"I am in no rush, my Queen. Besides, I planned on spending the next couple of weeks with only you," I replied.
"I love the idea of that, but I am packed with pack meetings and council meetings next week. Also, you are still on bed rest until the doctor says so. So, no going anywhere for you, Mister," she said.
"You don't have to attend all those meetings anymore. I can do them. I am already awake," I replied.
"Did you not hear what I just said? You are on bed rest. That means not getting out of bed unless you have to go to the bathroom," she argued.
"I am so proud of you. You single-handedly fixed all the aftermath of the war and ran the pack. You are such a wonder woman," I said, complimenting her.
"Oh well, I had help. Neal and the rest of the pack were there to help me with a lot of things," she replied.
"The pack would have fallen apart if they had no one to lead them for six months. You being here gave them the strength to keep moving forward. Without you, none of what happened would have happened. You have no idea just how much my love for you increased for all the sacrifices you have made for the pack. You are such an incredible woman, and I am so blessed that the Moon Goddess gave you to me," I said.
