Chapter 100: Chapter 100

Chapter 100 Sad News

MAIA'S POV

For the past six months, we rebuilt everything affected by the war. As Queen Luna, I ensured that all the bereaved families were cared for.

While I was doing my Queen Luna duties, Neal was helping me out with Lucius' duties. It was overwhelming at first, but now I have gotten the hang of it.

"What is wrong with him? What just happened?" I asked frantically.

After Lucius's curse had been broken, he suddenly fainted.

"I don't know. We have to bring him to the hospital now!" Neal exclaimed.

Two nurses immediately arrived, carried Lucius on a stretcher, and ran him to the pack hospital.

When I saw Uriah about to follow me to the hospital, I stopped him.

"Where do you think you are going? After everything you have done in our lives, I don't want you anywhere near Lucius. I am being nice enough by not banning you right now because I will let your brother do that, but don't think that I will not dare throw you in the dungeons. After all, that is exactly where you are going," I spat.

Neal was quick enough to order the guards to take Uriah to the dungeons.

"Listen to me, Maia. I am really sorry for everything I have done. I know that I should have not just easily believed Tatiana and trusted her, but I was hurting. Lucius is the only family I have left. If something bad happens to him because of me, I would never forgive myself. I need to be there. Please," he begged.

"Well, if I were you, I would start praying for a miracle. The moment his heart stops beating, yours will stop too." I replied.

I ordered the guards to take him to the dungeons and have him extra guarded.

We spent the next couple of hours in the hospital as we waited for any news from the doctor. The waiting was the worst part of it all. I had no idea what was going on.

Four hours later, the doctor came out and broke out the news to us.

I stood up from my seat the moment I saw her.

"Queen Luna. Beta Neal," she greeted.

"How is he, doctor?" I asked impatiently.

"You might want to sit down for this, Queen Luna," the doctor said.

It was enough to give me a heart attack. Millions of bad scenarios flooded my mind as I sat down.

"We have done a complete check-up and ran the tests a couple of times just to make sure that we have the correct diagnosis. I don't know if there is any easier way to say this, Queen Luna, but King Alpha is in a coma right now. We have no definite answer on when he will wake up. It can be days, weeks, months, or years. Since his healing is taking quite slow, I assume that his wolf is either in trauma or trying to heal itself," the doctor explained.

As I sat there, my brain had a hard time processing everything she had just said.

'He is in a coma.' The phrase kept replaying in my head as if it was on repeat.

***

It had been six long months since the doctor told me that he was in a coma, and it had been six very challenging months. I had to fix everything that was affected during the war and run the pack.

After six weeks of going back and forth from the palace, the pack house, and the hospital daily, the doctor suggested a makeshift hospital in Lucius' room. This way, I did not have to keep going back and forth to the hospital.

There was not a day where I did not wish for him to wake up. I cried every single night, hoping my tears would turn into some kind of magic that would make him wake up.

As I dragged myself to the office after spending hours checking the pack house, schools, hospital, and meeting with them, I couldn't help but just lay my back on the swivel chair as I took time to collect myself.

"Maybe you should call it a day, Queen Luna. You have done a lot of things this morning, and you definitely need the rest," Neal suggested.

"You know I can't do that, Neal. I still have a long list of things to do and a bunch of meetings to attend for the next couple of days," I replied.

"If you keep pushing yourself to your limits, you will get sick. The people need you now more than ever. With that being said, you need to be in great shape, Queen Luna. Do you think the King Alpha would be pleased with how you are drowning yourself with so much work?" He asked.

With the mention of Lucius, I felt a pinch of pain in my heart. I greatly missed him. I missed talking to him, having meals with him, and just simply being with him.

I was just about to reply to Neal when Emily suddenly barged inside the office.

"Queen Luna, you have to come right away," she exclaimed, breathless as if she ran a marathon.

"Slow down, Emily. What's going on?" I asked as I tried not to panic.

"It's the King Alpha." It was all she had to say to have me running out of the office.

I did not bother taking the elevator. Instead, I ran the stairs up to his room.

"What happened?" I asked, pushing the door open.

The doctor and the nurses who were there looked at me then back to the doctor.

"The King Alpha has woken up, Queen Luna," the doctor said.

I couldn't believe my ears when she said that. I had been waiting for half a year to hear those words, and it finally happened that day.

I ran beside the bed and came face to face with my mate.

"Hi, handsome. Welcome back. I missed you like crazy," I greeted him with a huge smile on my face.

I couldn't believe that Lucius, my love, was finally awake.
