Chapter 46: Chapter 46
Minerva doesn’t wake up again, for up to four months. The days fly like slow wind, the people lessens and as everyone grows in months, Sebastian’s hope fades away completely.
The baby in Minerva’s womb doesn’t grow. She is pregnant, yes but the spell stops the growth of any kind, even her own growth. So she will be there… here till they find a ‘non-existing solution’ to the impossible unbreakable spell. This doesn’t stop them from looking though. It only stops him for looking.
He spends hours and days in what now turns out to be her room, just laying by her side and she sees him too, she stares as he cries at her side everyday.
No one has ever seen the wolf king cry.
He is a man of wild actions, he can’t just bend on his knees close to a bed and cry? But he does, everyday.
No one have ever seen the wolf king cry.
No one except her. It warms her heart to know that he cares for her this much but it also breaks her heart to not be able to reach out to him and tell him how sorry she is. She can’t though, all she can do is stare at him with dull eyes.
A month passes by again, a month that Sebastian never leaves his room. A month that Minerva continues to stay the same way so they decide to find another solution. Another alternative.
They try to find a way to remove the child from Minerva instead, to make it grow out of her womb but it isn’t as easy as it sounds. It is a hard task that may involve black magic, the kind of magic that can keep people’s life at risk. The kind that Davina uses.
Davina… the female that hides very well, that they can’t find. The female that caused all this. Sebastian’s hatred for the female is enough to make all the seas of the world dry up.
“Hand me the baby wrap.” Finn stretches out an arm to his mate.
“A baby wrap?” She asks, with confusion in her voice and her hands placed protectively on her huge baby bump.
“You mean a baby diaper.”
He looks up at her with a scoff. “I wasn’t born in baby mars so don’t kill me when I don’t know that. Baby diaper, please.”
She laughs as a she stands up, opening a bag by her side and when she finds what he requests for, she hands it to him. He takes it without looking and tries to place it properly on the doll he is using for ‘baby practices’.
When he succeeds, he claps in happiness, gaining Asteria’s attention as she sits back down.
“When are you leaving again?”
“Just in a few minutes. Don’t worry, I will be back before the next three days.”
“And I am going to stay here, waiting for you and my si-”
“Yeah, I know.” He stands on his feet and goes to peck her lips. “I am just worried that you’re under some kind of stress and this might be hurting our kid.”
“I am finding a way to-”
“Fix things with Minerva. I know and I am also finding a way too, my queen, but I am a hundred percent sure that your sister won’t like to see that you’re stressing yourself out.”
“Finn is right. You need to rest and besides, we should stop looking for a way to cure Minerva or remove the baby.” Sebastian drops the bomb immediately he steps into the room, making the couple looks up in shock.
“Why would you do that. We can still find a way to stop the spell. There is still time…” Asteria argues and Finn slowly turns to Sebastian.
“We have been trying that solution for months and it isn’t working. What we need to do is to find Davina and make her reverse whatever she did.” Sebastian says as he turns around to walk out of the room.
Finn and Asteria shares at glance.
“You should talk to him. We can still do this.”
“No, we can’t. He is right. Davina might be the solution that we have been searching for in months. We got so caught up in finding a cure that we forgot to check in on how the search is going.”
“She might be long gone.” She argues. “It has been months! Where are you going to start?”
“He will start anywhere and I will help out when I get back. Just try to stay rested.”
She scowls as he opens a portal and steps in, leaving her alone in the room…
“Just for another three days.” She whispers and reaches out to taker her drink on the stool and she takes a sip out of it.
* * * *
“Come on, push her in!”
The sound of Davina’s voice rings in the wide dark room and she rolls her eyes when the nightling finally does as she asks. To push ‘Gwen’ in.
“Sebastian and all the rest have been so busy becoming crybabies,” Davina pouts as she steps down the stairs slowly. “That they haven’t noticed that the princess is missing. It is a shame really.”
Davina walks into Gwen’s view and the nightling goes back into her body with a shrug of her shoulders.
“They will come to find me soon.”
“You have been saying that for the past two days,” Davina squats to look at the wolf princess who happens to be heavily pregnant. “But no one has come for you, not even the father of your child. Again, it is disappointing but I wouldn’t know much about it.”
As Davina looks away, Gwen exhales and wraps her arms around her baby bump with ignorance to the place she is right now but more focus on why she is there.
“What was that dark creature?”
Davina turns back to her as she stands on her feet and shrugs her shoulders again, making many of the ‘black creatures’ pop out immediately.
A surprised and terrified gasp leaves Gwen’s lips when sees their numbers. She is barely able to hide the fact that is scared to begin with.
Werewolves are hormonal creatures, now add that up with pregnancy hormones, that’s a ticking time bomb.
“My nightlings. My father gave them to me as one of his ‘gifts’ before he died. He was one of the few people I knew that rarely gave off gifts, that explains the shock I was in when he gave them to me. His beautiful creations handed to his successor.”
Her chin slowly lifts higher and the creatures vanish immediately, leaving a dust of black smoke as they go back into her.
“I have another name for them though.” A tea table and chair appears outside Gwen’s cell and Davina sits on the seat, while pouring the tea but she doesn’t stop talking. “The name my father gave to them doesn’t have much of a ring to it. I need something better. Do you have any suggestions or you are just staring at me like that because you need some tea?”
“No, thank you.”
Gwen forces herself to answer. She knows what will happen if she doesn’t and she is not ready to put her baby’s life in danger. What kind of mother would do that?
She has already made up her mind to follow up on Davina’s tricks till someone finds her and it has been two days. Did nobody really notice that she was gone? Sebastian or even Greyson?
Her parents would have noticed if only they were at the castle. With everything going on, Sebastian thought that it would be best if they are far away. Her brother and his cut off mindset.
“You sure you don’t want some tea? How about a wine because we can be waiting for a very long time.” Davina smiles in hopes of getting her to be scared.
“You have been saying that for the past two days,” Gwen quotes Davina’s words. “Are you sure that you aren’t slacking on your English class, dear Daviny.”
Davina’s eyes narrows at Gwen in a blast of fury. Gwen can almost imagine the steam coming out of her ears as the tea cup shatters in her hands. The look in her eyes suddenly terrifies Gwen and she lets out a nervous laugh.
“Hey, look. I was kidding. Don’t look so shocked because that’s what yo-”
Gwen lets out a scream as Davina suddenly appears in front of her with her eyes holding an emotion that she can’t understand.
“I have had enough of you little wet dog. I need to really keep you on a leech.”
Davina opens the cell door and drags Gwen out by her feet.
Her hands anxiously searches for something to hold on to but she finds none. Her top priority is to take care of her baby so she does everything possible to do that, even if it means getting bruised and battered as long her baby is safe…
Before Davina gets her to her to the destination, Gwen is already bruised. She has a little cut in her lower lip and a few bumps on her face and arms… she doesn’t want to get started on her ankle.
Davina drops her like dead weight on the chair in a confined room. The windows are closed off with huge bars, restricting light from properly entering the room.
The room is as empty as it can ever be, with a wide space. The jingling sound brings her attention to Davina who holds an excited grin on her face.
Gwen’s eyesight zooms in and out as she stares at the female who holds her head straight as she buckles Gwen’s wrists, legs and head in place.
“What are you doing?” Gwen can barely keep her eyes on Davina. She can barely focus on anything going on around her. “Please don’t do anything to my baby.”
“Oh no, honey. I would never hurt your kid, at least not yet. Maybe, when I have the rest of the gang here. For now, it is you that I am more concerned about.”
Gwen feels the trail of something sharp at the side of her face as she listens to Davina’s muse with closed eyes.
“Please don’t do anything to me.” Gwen wheezes out in fear and Davina hushes her.
“Don’t worry, darling. It won’t be painful for me at all.”
A scream rings in the air as the knife slices through it at the same time.
Davina’s hand stops mid-way and she looks down at the screaming female in confusion. “I haven’t even started yet. Would you quit the noise. You hurt my ears and my little creatures’ when you scream and you don’t want to see them when they get mad. No, you don’t. So behave.”
Gwen opens one eyes, then the other and she stops her screams. “Aren’t you going to kill me?”
“Of course not. I am going to use you to lure them here. I want a fast and guaranteed way.”
Davina drops the blade on a tray that Gwen manages to see now. She can barely move her head sideways, perhaps that why she didn’t see it.
“I had a thought of cutting out a part of your limb but you scream too much, then I thought of intercepting the fey king’s portal but again, not the result I want.”
“What do you want then? Why even come back here after five months?”
“Because,” Davina suddenly stomps on her feet. “The whole thing is in my head. I have been training for this since the day I began to walk and it may seem false but it is the truth. I had to consult an oracle to know the future so that this will go well for me and my father…”
“You keep talking about your father. What about you. What do you want?” Gwen questions as she faces the narrowed eyes of Davina.
“I want you to shut up and send a message to your uncaring boyfriend.”
“He was a one night stand, not my boyfriend and certainly not my boyfriend.”
“You said that two times.”
“I know what I said. Does that want to make you let me go?”
Davina smiles. “It wants to make me kill your kid as punishment.”
Whatever glee that Gwen is feeling immediately flees out of her in seconds. “Don’t.”
“Then don’t test me. Now, you can write the letter please.”
________
Greyson’s hands clenches tightly at his side as he grits his teeth. “No way.”
“This is a trap. You can’t just go in there without a plan.” Asteria takes the paper from him and reads what’s on it as Sebastian seethes.
“That’s my sister in there. How couldn’t I know that she is missing. Damn it!”
“What’s the plan then?”
“We will find one, just try to call Finn back and you,” Sebastian points to Greyson, “Double the guards around the castle.”
“I am not one of your commanders.”
“You are below me, remember. Now go!”
