Chapter 44: Chapter 44
“Did you do the test I ask for?”
The doctor tries to catch up to his long strides. “Yes, it wasn’t an easy task but due to our advanced technology we were able to make it work.”
Sebastian grabs the document from her hands and take a glance through it.
“It’s your child, my king.”
His steps doesn’t falter as he hands it over to her. “How is she?”
“Stable. Her neck has been patched up and her vitals are good but…”
“But what?” He insists.
“She doesn’t seem to be speaking or reacting to anything we do. Sometimes her eyes follows us everywhere and sometimes she just stares at the wall… motionless.”
“Thank you for your time.” Sebastian grunts. He open the door to his room and walks in, closing the door in her face.
She stands there for some seconds as she holds the documents to her chest and squeal. “He’s so dreamy.”
She giggles and turns to leave.
Sebastian’s heart threatens to fail him as he closes the door behind him.
A child. Minerva is pregnant with his child and he can’t even think straight. Again, the person who caused all this problems in their lives is scooting free.
The child is not a problem to him, he can and will take care of this child as his own because it is his own.
He worries about her though. What if Minerva doesn’t let him. What if she doesn’t accept the baby. What if she never wakes up.
He imagines her laying on his bed with him stroking her ears as she giggles but that will never happen because she is… he doesn’t even know what to call the situation she is in right now. To him… it’s all his fault.
The door opens without a knock and Sebastian looks up in time just to get punched by Greyson. He barely staggers at all and he doesn’t try to act back either, even as Greyson begins to throw accuses as him.
“I heard what happened, Sebastian and it’s all your fault. Your fault that she’s pregnant.”
Sebastian looks up at him.
“Yeah,Gwen told me everything. If only we would have listened ti her and killed the fey- Grace. This wouldn’t have happened. If only she hadn’t met you… she wouldn’t be in this situation right now.”
Greyson nods to himself and leaves the room as quickly as he can.
He is right. If only she hadn’t met him then he wouldn’t hav- this wouldn’t be happening. She would have lived her life to whatever extent she wants.
He doesn’t know what moves him out of the room, towards the room she is been kept. He expects no one to be inside but when he opens the door there is a dark female seated opposite her bed, reading aloud to Minerva who has her eyes glued on the female.
“What are you doing in here?”
The female looks up from the book she is holding as Sebastian closes the door.
“What are you in doing in here?” She asks in turn as she closes the book shut. “I am reading a story, Minerva’s novel to her.”
Sebastian feels obligated to answer her question as his hand slowly leaves the door knob. “I came here to see how she is doing.”
The female hums. “Her mental state is in a complicated situation right now but I believe she will pass through this like all the challenges she has passed through before.”
“Who exactly are you because I have never seen you here before.”
“Oh yes, I have never showed myself to you before,” She stands on her feet and stretches out her arm for a handshake.
He slowly accepts it and he pulls back quickly when she presses hard on his palm.
“I was expecting a bit of a dominant handshake but that’s your choice, your thing. And I am formally known as Angel Writes but that isn’t my real name. I just like this one in this setting."
Sebastian nods, not understanding a word she is saying.
“It’s a pleasure to finally meet the famous king of the wolves.”
“It’s also a pleasure meet the female that Minerva always mutter about along with unrecognizable words. I miss even those type of words.”
“I’m sure you might not dismiss my offer of taking a seat with me.”
“For some odd reason, I am more than happy to do so.”
The female giggles as they both sit down.
“That’s just my super powers talking. I seem to have a lot super powers here.”
Sebastian turns to her as she says this, “But you’re a human.”
“Yes, a human with lot of super powers,” She laughs bitterly, “So many that she can’t count but when one of her creations makes a decision that takes a big risk on her life, she can’t do a thing because she already planned it out. She already made the path and her creation must suffer for her lack of choosing the right path. It’s awful.”
Sebastian’s eyes remains on the odd females as she looks straight at Minerva and Minerva looks straight at her.
He forces a smile. “I’m sure that the person you are talking about will forgive you. Mine won’t.”
“Why wouldn’t she? I mean, she is expecting your child. I think she will come around.” The female says and when Sebastian turns to stare at Minerva, he is shocked to find her staring at him but it’s only for a second before she closes her eyes.
“Why am I not surprised that you know about that?”
The female snickers, “Everyone in the castle knows but they respect and obey your commands. The news will not leave the castle.”
“But in a way, it has left the castle. It reached you.”
“You are right about that but I promise not to tell. I am a lady of a promise when I make one.”
“Seems to me that you hardly make promises.”
“Yes, you got that right,” She winks and lets out a heavy exhale. “It seems like Minerva has gone to sleep. Don’t panic when she does that, it’s normal, and hopefully you’ll get passed this.”
The female says. “I believe you’ll all get passed this and when you do, I’ll be here, watching.”
“You make it sound like you’re a god.” Sebastian says.
Sebastian finds himself wrinkling his nose and the female laughs.
“I know right. It will be super cool and would also be stressful.” She pouts.
“I’m sure you can handle anything that comes your way.” Sebastian frowns when he hears himself saying that.
“Yeah, how will my creations feel if I can’t handle that.” She lets out an awkward laugh as she squeezes the bottom of her dress.
“What if I can’t handle the death of all my loved ones when they were killed by an apocalypse of our greatest nightmares.”
“Wait, what?” Sebastian turns to her in disbelief and she laughs but this time a genuine one. “Did all those things happen to you?”
“Of course not. I just have a very wild imagination and it sometimes confuses people around me… in my imagination. I have never told anyone that before.”
“Then I am honored to be the first.” Sebastian says and they fall into a comfortable silence.
“I can sense your doubts about being a father. I think you’ll do great.”
“After all I’ve done,” He scoffs. “It’ll be horrible. I would be horrible, more worst than the worst father of all time and I don’t even know who that is.”
“Then take it from me when I say that you will make your own fair share of mistakes but at the end, you’ll be the best dad your kid could ever ask for.” She shrugs, “The best mate she could ever ask for.”
“You’re talking like Minerva is going to be there too…”
“Because she is,” She smiles. “I believe so. Now go bring a piece of paper for me to sign my autograph on.”
“Why would I want your autograph.”
“Everyone wants my autograph, now shoo.”
He laughs as he stands on his feet and does as she asks. When he comes back, he finds the room empty, only Minerva in sight and a paper on the place she once sat.
He picks it up and laughs when he reads what’s on it.
‘The best dad in the whole kingdom.’
“I guess she is right. I plan to be the best dad and a better mate for only you and my kid, Minerva.”
